These four chapters offer what one has come to expect from the series. It is not as deep or emotive as the genre standard Solo Leveling—but delivers a shallower shonen adventure. Most non-admires will have fallen off by this part of the franchise and thus don’t mind the repetitious ventures. The timeline continues to accelerate around rebirther Jooheon which one would think would ruin his advantage but doesn’t seem to slow down his progress. It’s unpredictable in nature as readers are never privy to the plan beforehand and get sudden reveals of off-screen shenanigans which block nefarious actions against our protagonist. Fight scenes are the focus of many pages. Most of the time these are fun themed moments but on occasion it can be difficult to figure out specific actions. For example, War and Bankruptcy were exploding buildings but baffling never injured each other during their confrontation. This is balanced by a comedic take on minion interactions, Pavlovian training of an Egyptian deity, and a self-reflection where Jooheon struggles to grow a fan base. I too wish our main character was more loveable rogue but it’s clearly a darker male revenge fantasy.
