"Pentadic Striations" explores this medium with an emphasis on patterns of five and a series of rhythmic modulations connecting sections of the work. Player I plays 4 high tom-toms, 3 cowbells, triangle, and vibraphone. Player II plays 4 roto toms, 3 suspended cymbals, 3 brake drums, bass drum, and marimba. Player III plays 4 low tom-toms, bongos, 3 alm glocken, and crotales (one octave). Player IV plays 4 timpani, 5 temple blocks, and 3 Chinese cymbals.
