New Hampshire historian Floyd W. Ramsey delves into the White Mountain region's fascinating and colorful past in this collection of 18 stories chronicling notable people and events over the past two centuries. Ramsey looks back at the lives of such legendary historical figures as homesteader Dolly Copp and lumber baron James. E. Henry. He also recounts many of the region's most notable and sobering occurrences, such as the tragic Willey Slide of 1826 and the spectacular January 1942 crash of a World War Two bomber on the slopes of New Hampshire's Mount Waternomee.
