Refugee From Roswell

Rate this book
1987. Three generations of women. The same boyfriend. Helen in her 60s. Amy in her 40s. Tricia in her 20s. And their boyfriend, Joe. Who never ages.

Helen and Amy have compared notes and have a theory. Each, in their 20s, fell in love with Joe. Now young Tricia did the same. And the inevitable moment has come when Joe breaks up with her. He has to because he never ages.

They watch the moment from a nearby table at an outdoor cafe. And when it's over, they go to a tearful Tricia and offer her sympathy -- and a very unworldly theory about what just happened.

˃˃˃ Observing humans for 40 years

Joe, they suggest, is an alien. Maybe a refugee from the crash at Roswell in the summer of 1947. It makes as much sense as anything else.

They have photographs to show Tricia of their own time with him as young women.

As hard as this is to believe, Tricia goes to the library to research what happened at Roswell. Her friend Susan thinks she's nuts. But Tricia has a special reason to find out the truth -- she's pregnant. Is the father an alien?

"will keep you glued to the pages"
˃˃˃ Take a stellar safari to Earth! Observe primitive humanoids close up!

Joe is, indeed, an alien scientist who survived Roswell. Now he's visited by George, an ambitious entrepreneur from his home planet. A group of intergalactic businessmen want to turn Earth into a destination resort for high-rolling inter-planetary vacationers.

From Joe's reports home, Earth sounds like the perfect example of primitive humanoid life forms.

Humans pay adults to play children's games much more than they pay teachers to educate their children! Humans let families live in cardboard boxes on the street! Humans don't trust science!

What is more proof of primitive behavior than this?

˃˃˃ Joe to the rescue

But Joe has grown a soft spot in his heart for humans. He doesn't want to see Earth turned into a zoo. And he comes up with an idea that, with the help of Tricia and others, might throw a wrench into George's plans.

But will it work?
