I enjoyed this book, wish it had been a bit longer but it was fast paced and straight to the point. Makes you think what can I do better. I read the book in about an hour which is why I wish it had been longer

I believe there is a very strong logical evidence this entire story is made up. When someone tells you about their experience and then "backs it up" by throwing in a few Bible verses, you should already be careful, but that's not the most important reason I think this story never happened - which is that "God" in this book does and makes some things that make no sense and contradict each other. I do believe in afterlife but please don't try to find out how it looks from this book!

Odd little story about a guy who got stung by some box jellyfish in 1982 - one sting should have killed him but he got stung by 5. Wouldn't you know it - it did kill him. He briefly met Jesus who gave him an option of going back into his body. He didn't want to but remembered his mom who would be sad and didn't know he'd accepted Jesus like 10 seconds before he died. He goes back to his body. He survives the jellyfish. He becomes a Christian. He seems to have a nice family now. The end.

I sincerely believe in God.

I had a near death experience and saw and felt the loving light. Ian's description is so accurate and a wonderful story of God's love for us all.

Wonderful story

I found Ian's experience to be fascinating. I prayed before I read the book that God would protect me from evil and bless me with discernment so that I might know truth from fiction. I believed every word I read, but for me there is one sure way to know if a person has truly been changed by their experience, and I don't believe that anyone could see the Lord and not be changed. To confirm that what I had read was true, I went to the products page. It was there that I read that Ian does not make money by selling his story. That was the last thing I needed for me to know that Ian is a man of his word and that His experience was real. I have never died, but I did "hear" God's voice and have a conversation with Him. Some of the things Ian experienced when communicating with Him were similar to what I experienced. In my experience I found that God has a wonderful sense of humor and He delights in His children just as we do in ours. I highly recommend this book and I pray that it strengthens your faith..

Inspiring

This was a random read that I bought as a “perhaps”. I am interested in NDE and reincarnation, and thought this might be interesting. What I did not expect was a well written story by a contemporary from my own background- who was astonished by his own experience. To my own astonishment this short essay resonated, and apart from a few blips ( I just could not get my head around the demons, angry natives yes, demons, no.) is comforting and seems to jigsaw with every other experience of the same type. So, if everyone who dies, experiences approximately the same thing, does that not throw up some wonderful questions & awe inspiring conclusions? Read it yourself, as I am not going to force my opinion onto anyone. I was just happier in myself for reading it.

This book was another art of God,blessing those who do not believe, so that they can find Jesus; those who already believe, and are getting closer to Him; and those who have had similar stories happen to them, so that they can rejoice with the Lord. I was intrigued when the author mentioned the demons at night wanting to haunt him and scare him - and this shows a great lesson: Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9). The enemy was wanting to snatch his soul back but nothing will prevail against God almighty. Loved it !!

I enjoy these more when the writer merely expresses his or her entire experience without having the need to prove to the reader that it’s “scriptural”. I want to study genuine experiences, which this one no doubt is, but I want the writer to cease feeling the need to have “it fit” the fundamentalist Christian “tests”. The whole point to me is to study the “mystery” not prove an already in existence biblical narrative. I wish these accounts would stop trying so hard to cross all the t’s and dot the i’s.

Eye opening

I read this account with the hope that it may shed some light on my experiences. Incredible as they are, Ian's encounters with Jesus and the demonic are similar to my own. I have even had encounters that were shared by people who described themselves as sceptics. They have grudgingly shifted their viewpoints since. It's undeniable that there is more to life than we know. It is important to discover the truth and to prepare ourselves for what comes next.

I have doubts

This claims he was both in heaven and hell? I can't recommend this little booklet for it seems "theologically flippant". The author needs to read their Bible thoroughly to see who qualifies for heaven and hell. The mere idea of a person visiting both realms is dubious. However it would probably sell books.

Young Christian rememberances.

Married pakeha (NZ white boy) is born again into his childhood religion. Now a preacher, which now supports his wife and kids. Lively creation of the 24 year old surfing adventures ended with medical hallucinations, Bible related & referenced. Exciting story for Christians.

Excellent inspiring uplifting a book everyone should read Christians and

non-Christians especially. I love reading books on NDE these people die for the main purpose to tell the world about Heaven and Jesus and how much Jesus loves us and wants us to accept Him as our Lord and Savior

Very relatable, it rings true and I've seen some of it

Great backup from Scripture. So much hope and truth revealed in Ian's story. Note the profound influence of a praying parent on a sinner's salvation experience and escape from condemnation . Jesus is the one clear path to a meaningful life and deliverance from darkness. He is the way, the truth, and the light.

Just ok

First off I am a believer in heaven , hell and God above . I’ve read many books about out of body travels , but this one seemed a bit hard to swallow - as in the whole creole demon thing . The story became a bit difficult to believe ( for me ),at that point .

Great Read

Wish the book was longer! The story was compelling and hard to put down. Encouraging for anyone who thinks they know someone "unreachable" for Christ. Is anything to difficult for God?

More to Life than just this life

Ian's story is engaging, frightening, and wonderful. His descriptions are so vivid, it's like living through each moment with him.

Thank you, Ian, for writing your testimony.

If you do not know Christ as your savior, read this account

Of a man who was literally shocked into knowing Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour while swimming in the ocean. Then consider him seriously at length.

Ok

What struck me as most important in this story was - tell people how to call out to God when in need; you never know whose eternal soul it will save.
The story itself is amazing. The stuff he went through unimaginable. The outcome, awesome. A good basic book on the subject.

awe inspiring

Reading Ian’s story inspired me. The complete turn around in his life and the testimony of how real hell and demons are in a world where they are commercialized in movies should bring all of us to stop and reconsider the path our life is on. A must read for all.

Quick read about the author's NDE. Seems legitimate though I didn't like his preaching at the end of the book. Though I suppose it might help some.

Surfing my way to heaven and back

Too much traveling around to famous surfing places rather than telling of his changed life after his experience meeting God.
