In 1066 England, triplet sisters Christiana, Eva, and Marina use the special powers they were born with to fight off the invading Norman army. But the conquerors prevail, and Christiana, now a spoil of war, must marry the Norman commander Roland.
Both Christiana and Roland are used to being in charge. Can two headstrong people from different cultures find a way to live as husband and wife? And even as they try, a far more sinister threat approaches, one with designs on all the sisters ...
Morganna Mayfair is a pen name of writer Kirsten Osbourne for her paranormal romance. Morganna has been writing all her life, but just forayed into the publishing world in 2011, and her life has been forever changed. She lives in Texas with her husband, son, and a menage of pets that make her crazy. She can't wait to share her stories with you!
Still reading this, but had to comment, from someone with a degree in European medieval history, especially Britain and Celtic history. I love how Kirsten accurately portrays the attitudes of marriage in this book. Women used their strengths and abilities from within the bounds of marriage, whether they loved their husband or not. While there were definitely abusive husbands, the majority provided for their wives and treated them kindly. Wives in return took care of many things, more than just cooking and cleaning and children. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
Roland and Christina/mental message receiver and sender. A great start to the series! Loved how she has her own will but knew when to concede, which is true strength. Their story has a very complete and satisfying HEA!.
I read this book in 2017 and enjoyed it, although I would have liked a few phrases and words of the time the story was set in rather than being "perfect modern English." It is, after all, set in Medieval England, and its two main characters are Christiana, an English Nobel woman, and Roland, a Norman Lord of the conquering army. That said, the story is unusual and imaginative and easily grabbed my attention, so I also decided to listen to the audio version. The audio version is narrated by Alison Phoenix who did a good job of bringing the characters to life.
Christiana is the eldest of three sisters, each of whom holds a special power Christiana's is telepathy her younger sisters have the power of healing and illusion and in the battle to come these powers will be needed. Since birth, they have been told that they must practice with their gifts and be ready to use them as they are the key to defeating a great evil which will befall England. After the defeat of Harold at Hastings Roldand, a second son with no hope of inheriting land of his own, is gifted Christiana as his bride by William and will thus become master of her estate. With him are his younger brother and his friend since childhood and an army of 200 men.
Christiana isn't happy about this situation but knows she must wed him to ensure her, her sisters and everyone within the Manor's safety. Fortunately she and Roland soon develop feelings for each other and when he learns of the powers held by the three sisters he is at first sceptical of them but soon becomes accepting of them.
As the evil moves closer to them their powers will be needed, I look forward to listening to the next book to find out how their battle with the Resistance will go.
I love the Seven Sons series by Kirsten and Amelia Adams. I love the prequel series The McClains. I have read them all at least twice. THEN, I was told about the Thrice Blessed series, which is the prequel of the prequel. Conquered, the first book of the trilogy introduces the three women of power, triplets whose family was gifted by God with powers that have the locals fearing they are witches. Set in 1066, Christiana and her sisters try unsuccessfully to hold off the Norman conquerors whose leader, Roland, was gifted the land and the hand of Christiana in marriage. Roland turns out to be the only man Christiana could ever love.
Loved the narration of Alison Phoenix, who brings the medieval life to your ears. The mystery, romance, heat and magic all come to your ears.
We meet triplet sisters who need to learn how to master their powers a gift from God to defeat evil. The locals believe them to be witches. The time is 1066, Christiana and her sisters try unsuccessfully to hold off the Norman conquerors. The leader Roland, was gifted the land and the hand of Christiana in marriage. Roland and match turns out to be one of love.
Good start to a new series! I listened to the audio book -it was a pretty light and easy listen. The narrator has a pleasant voice and is easy to listen to. This story focuses on the eldest of 3 sisters and her conquering hero. The sister all have special powers (though not witches!) that assist their family and people and cause some confusion with the H. I enjoyed both the H and h and could understand their perspectives. This book starts to set up the stories for the other two sisters.
I have read other books by this author, so I thought I knew what to expect. I almost stopped because the dialog is stilted and the writing is stiff, but I decided to give it a chance. What I did not expect is for it to have explicit sex in it. I have discontinued reading because of that and now know to be very cautious before reading other books by this author
Listened to the audiobook. I really enjoyed the narrator she gave amazing life to the story. She reeled me in and hooked me.
The story was ok. It felt a little slow in some places but entertaining. There’s some spice and a bit of mystery in the air. A world of hidden magic, honor, and a looming darkness.
When the Normans turn up at Christiana and her sisters home, the dye is cast and Christiana and the new Lord of the manner are married the next day. Although the marriage is of to a shaky start they are both honor bound to make it work. I enjoyed the plot and the characters, the paranormal element was the icing on the cake. Alison Phoenix does and excellent job with the narration
This is a wonderful story about a sent of triplets who are destined to save the world. Christiana is the oldest sister. She marries Roland, a Norman conquerer. Can she/they defeat the evil coming for them and survive to get their HEA? Listen to this audiobook and find your answers. Excellent narration from Alison Phoenix. She did an amazing job bringing the characters to life.
A gorgeous Norman conqueror demands the beautiful and mysteriously powerful bride promised by his King. Add in two additional sisters with powers of their own and an unknown evil nemesis, how can you lose?
I really have enjoyed reading Conquered, book 1! Can't wait to read the next two! Three sisters, descending from the Druids, falling in love with their Norman conquerors... Absolute blissful reading!
I can’t wait to read more in this series. This book hooked me and kept me reading from beginning to end! Roland and Christiana are fantastic characters!
This audiobook was easy listening and done very well. The narrator brought this story to life about an eldest sister of 3 finding love in her handsome hero. Very good story and good audiobook.
Christiana is one of three triplet sister with magical powers. Roland comes in and forces her to marry him. This story flowed well and I didn't want to put it down. I can't wait for the next book!
