Prayer Warrior details the central role prayer plays in spiritual warfare, and how everyone is called to engage in this ongoing battle. Omartian ensures each message and discussion has solid biblical backing, and there are helpful prayers at the end of each chapter and most of the final chapter. The book does not draw on many examples to illustrate the principles in practice, which I felt might have further enhanced the book. I also found it a little difficult to reconcile the seemingly conflicting ideas of viewing the infliction of sinful acts as the Enemy's attack rather than an attack by the person committing it; while at the same time praying for the evil these persons inflict on God's people to be visited upon themselves. I formed this view because if the former is true, it effectively makes the perpetrators victims themselves of the Enemy, victims for whom I feel we should also be praying. Otherwise a worthwhile read on prayer as an important tool in spiritual warfare.

I was given a digital copy of this book by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I won this book free through Goodreads First Read. I have several books of Stormie Omartian and I love them all. Her prayers are so inspiring. Sometimes you just don't know what to say when praying, but by reading her books, she gives you the right words to say. The book of Prayer Warrior is a great book, it is very inspirational, encouraging, and will help you get back on track. I hope to get to read some of her others book in the near future. I recommend this book to anybody that is going through trials and tribulation or just need some inspiration.

If you have not read any of the other prayer books by this author, Stormie Omartian, this particular book is a great one to start with. If you have read some of her other books you know what you getting into! There are a lot of helpful tips on how to become a better prayer warrior. From whom we as Christians are fighting against every day to how to use prayer in that fight. Once you know what you are up against your prayers can be more specific and therefore more helpful to your spirit. Although I do not always agree with ideas she has about ways to pray or things to say in the prayers, I do think that prayer changes things. That said this book gives you some great ideas on improving your prayer life as you deal with the complications of the day. I gave this book 4/5 stars. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a more intense prayer life.

I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

2.5 stars. While it's obvious that the author is very passionate about prayer, I disagree with a basic theological assumption that she builds upon, namely the authority of the believer, a core belief held by Charismatics. She attributes far too much power and authority to the praying believer. The battle is too much about us. Her statement, "The only reason the world enjoys whatever peace and blessing it does is because godly men and women are praying." (p. 17) gave me pause. What about God's common grace, His benevolence? He showers blessings on the just and the unjust because He is a gracious God. My prayers, or the lack thereof, will not stay His hand. He is sovereign, not my prayers.
Omartian's theology makes us the lynchpin in the battle between God and Satan. It's all on us and we'd better get it right. I don't believe that's correct.
So, while I found this book to be an inspiration to get down to business and pray more, my focus will remain on God as the sovereign One who rules over all things. Glory to His name!

I've read many of Omartian's books, and loved them, but this is her best yet. Clear writing and full of Scripture, this is a book that has spurred me on to a deeper level of prayer.

Based on solid, Biblical principals, and written in an easy-to-read manner, "Prayer Warrior" is just what you've been looking for, to guide you in your prayer life and challenge you at the same time! As with her prior books, Stormie writes from her soul, openly sharing from her own past and from what she's learned in her own Christian journey. I greatly appreciate the way that she draws from so many Bible passages and people's lives from the Bible, so that she's not just offering "Stormie's guide to prayer", but is actually uncovering the truths contained in the Word about the power of prayer to do battle in the world around us. I also love the prayers that she includes in her book, a section at the end of each chapter entitled "Prayer for the Prayer Warrior" that focuses on applying the truths contained in that chapter to your own life. Ultimately, Stormie encourages us to see that we are called to partner with God in prayer, by releasing his power on earth, encouraging us that "as you invite the Holy Spirit to lead you, your prayers will always be alive. Your prayer life will continue to be exciting as you feel His presence leading you". I've talked to many people who feel like prayer at times can be nothing but work, but Stormie reminds us to rely on God's power to enable us to join Him in prayer, and she's absolutely right! I know that even when I haven't felt like praying, that when I just start anyway and ask Him to be present, the Holy Spirit is always there and giving me the strength and joy to warrior with Him. I love that Stormie even notes that she doesn't want us just to READ about prayer, but to get out there and get praying! Excellent advice indeed.

I found "Prayer Warrior" to be a wonderful addition to the arsenal of prayer books available to readers today. I award it a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars, and encourage you to pick up a copy of your own. You'll be glad you did!

I was immediately on-board with this book because I realized I didn't need to become a prayer warrior, I already was: "A prayer warrior has a heart of compassion for suffering people and bad situations, and desires to do something to make a difference." (p. 16) Omartian begins with the reality of spiritual warfare and in each chapter teaches us how to war against it through prayer (e.g., Know Your Commander, Put on Your Protective Armor Each Morning, Identify the Immediate Battlefield.) I led this study in a small group of mature Christian women and we had wonderful discussions, but it would also be effective on your own. We found we did not need the accompanying study guide--we had plenty to consider with the book alone. In the back are 20 prayers to help you pray, (e.g. Pray for a Covering of Protection, Pray for Racial Unity, Pray for your Leaders, Pray for a Clean and Humble Spirit.) My favorite parts of the book were her personal stories and illustrations.

I won this book through Goodreads. It is not a book that you sit down and read from beginning to end. I've read and re-read lots of parts of it, skipped parts, come back to them and will continue to read, learn and grow spiritually from this book. If you are looking for a way to increase the power of your prayer life this is a "MUST READ" for you. I carry this with me and when I have a few minutes, pick it up, find a highlighted part and re-read it. Great reminder of how we should be living our life and especially praying our way to victory.

Powerful book...it's very important to know that as a Christian we cannot sit on the sidelines...we must all be in the fight. This book is a great reminder of that and offers applications to get in there. Christians are not perfect and sometimes we feel we exhibit a holier-than-thou attitude when in fact we need just as much help as the non-faithful. I loved this book and have started my training as a prayer warrior!

This is the second time I have read this book. I read it straight through once and the second time I read it more slowly taking time to let each chapter sink in. This book inspired me to pray, informed me how to pray, and motivated me to pray. It is very practical as are all of Stormie's books but I think this is one of her best. I highly recommend it to every Christian whether you are new to prayer or are a long-time prayer warrior.

The book addresses the importance of prayer and strongly emphasizes that everything must be prayed for. The author is however too authoritative in putting her message across, to the dislike of others like me. She softens up a bit towards the end and I could relate to the examples she was giving. The prayer examples she gives at the end are profound.

The book started out as gripping for me and I thought the author covered good grounds like sins in our lives hindering prayers and a few other topics. There are appendix at the back for prayers which are compiled and helpful.

As usual, Stormie Omartian does a wonderful job of presenting the material for a Bible Study in a manner that is easy to understand, mindful, and hits right where we need to be hit spiritually. PRAYER WARRIOR is definitely worth any believer's time. May we all pray our way to victory....

Stormie Omartian is a New Age-influenced, false teaching-influenced, therapized woman with some issues. She has very little understanding of the Bible and Holy Spirit. What she says on repentance and forgiveness is good, but where is Jesus? She believes things such as 1)praying will empower or give you power 2)His voice speaks to our heart 3) don't miss out on good things, God has your best interests in mind 4) good health, success, easy life free of temptation, world peace, saving people are acceptable topics to pray to God 5) give God your burden 6) God will lift you above your difficult situations 7) you can limit God in disobedience 8) prayer is about your "needs" and feelings and opinions 9) God measure your prayers by how important they are to you 10) results from prayers take time 11) He will give you a new life you will enjoy so much that you won't want to travel back in your mind to the old one 12) loving God is easier than loving man 13) flow of the Holy Spirit will carry us wherever WE need to go 14) the devil hates it when you quote the Bible 15) the devil can't be around praise 16) just stop listening to negative thoughts 17) praise and reading the Bible is magic against negative feelings. Go watch Hardcore Christianity on Youtube. 1) Godhead has all the power, not the asker 2) He speaks to us through scriptures and His testimony first most, not feelings and experience 3) focus on self, not on missing out on God 4) all of those are earthly and Satanic and not according to scripture 5) you need to take up Jesus' burden 6) God will never let you rise above your circumstances in a New Age manner. He will go through it with you. Jesus came to suffer. He is Immanuel, God with us. 7) God is not limited, He just doesn't do certain things when there's unrepented sin 8) go to Lord's Prayer. Some of your needs are Satanic, of the flesh. It's God who must be glorified. 9) God measures your prayers by whether they are according to His Will 10) Daniel 10:12-13 11) John 16:33 12) 1 John 4:20, 1 John 3:10 13) Acts 1:8, John 3:8 14) The devil loves to spread false doctrine and distort the Word. You must quote the Bible with faith and understanding to defeat him. Be a serious student of the Bible 15) the devil was the worship leader. He is leading you away from Christ with music from Hillsong, Bethel, Jesus Culture, Lauren Daigle, etc. 16) watch Hardcore Christianity on Youtube. You must fight facts and lies with the Truth of the Word of God. You can't ignore them. 17) There are seriously mentally ill Christians. They are that way because of demons, and those must be cast out. Jesus called deliverance "the children's bread."

Learn how to become the intercessor that God wants you to become

The first time I saw this book in a bookstore, I was wondering: what is a prayer warrior? And, what are the skills, abilities, required to become one?

This book will teach you that you as Christians are called to become a prayer warrior, you are already at war, and the only way to win against the enemy of our souls is to accept your calling and prepared.

This book will help you to become an effective prayer warrior.

This book was very helpful and has encouraged me to become a prayer warrior. It has a lot of good information but it can be an overload if done all at once. For me personally, I found chapters 8-11 the most useful. And I love that chapter 12 has different types of prayers you can pray for different situations. Took me a while to read, but totally worth it!

This is another valuable resource. It is the first of Stormie's books that I have read This is really solid instruction for the Christian. The author wants every Christian to pray and she gives extensive information. The book is packed full. Each chapter ends with a prayer. the final chapter contains a list of twenty specific prayers the reader can use.

All of Omartian's prayer books are good and this is no exception. Each chapter deals with a different part of our relationship with God, His character and how we should trust him and who He is to direct our prayers. I recommend this book as I would recommend all her books.
