Pride #1-2 & 6-7

Pride Bundle #2

Rate this book
In The Mane Event, Shelly Laurenston introduced a whole new breed of heroes--sexy, shape-shifting hunks who redefine the term Alpha male. Now, in The Beast In Him, one gorgeous lone wolf is about to meet his match. . .

Some things are so worth waiting for. Like the moment when Jessica Ward "accidentally" bumps into Bobby Ray Smith and shows him just how far she's come since high school. Back then, Jess's gangly limbs and bruised heart turned to jelly any time Smitty's "all the better to ravish you with" body came near her. So, some things haven't changed. Except now Jess is a success on her own terms. And she can enjoy a romp--or twenty--with a big, bad wolf and walk away. Easy.

Mace Llewellyn. Brendon Shaw. Two tall, gorgeous, sexy alpha heroes who are 100% male--with a little something extra. Lion-shifters, to be exact, who can unleash every woman's animal side and still look good--make that spectacular--in a suit. . .and even better out of it. . .

NYPD cop Desiree "Dez" MacDermot knows she's changed a lot since she palled around with her childhood buddy, Mace. But it's fair to say that Mace has changed even more. It isn't just those too-sexy gold eyes, or the six-four, built-like-a-Navy Seal body. It's something in the way he sniffs her neck and purrs, making her entire body tingle. . . Meanwhile, for Tennessean Ronnie Lee Reed, New York City is the place where any girl--even one who runs with a Pack--can redefine herself. First order of business: find a mate, settle down, and stop using men for sex. Even big, gorgeous, lion shifter men like Brendon Shaw. But she needn't worry, because now that Brendon's set his sights on her, the predator in him is ready to pounce and never let go. . .

Seeing is deceiving. And Ric Van Holtz, the wolfishly sexy hero of Shelly Laurenston’s sizzling, wildly entertaining new tale, is nothing you expect-and everything you want…

When it comes to following her instincts, former Marine Dee-Ann Smith never holds back. And this deadly member of a shifter protection group will do anything to prove one of her own kind is having hybrids captured for dogfights. Trouble is, her too-cute rich-boy boss Ric Van Holtz insists on helping out. And his crazy-like-a-fox smarts and charming persistence are making it real hard for Dee to keep her heart safe….

He's big, burly, and way smarter than your average shapeshifting bear. He's also about to get trapped by own his game. . .

Lou Crushek is a reasonable, mellow, easygoing kind of guy. But once someone starts killing the scumbags he works so hard to bust, that really gets under his fur. Especially when that someone is a curvy she-tiger with a skill set that's turning Crush's lone-bear world upside down--and bringing his passion out of hibernation. . .

For anyone who hasn't read Laurenston's shifter books, this is an odd collection from this series. The books aren't in the order of the Pride books at all. They are some of my favorite books from this author, so I was happy, but just a warning to series newbies.

The Pride Stories and the Pack stories are as fantastic as the Lora Leigh's Breeds Series. If you like Lora Leigh you will love, love, love Shelly Laurenston. I like these books because they are not in a political conflict with the government. The conflicts and resolutions are more real everyday type drama and the passion is fantastic. I have actually read this series three times I enjoyed them so much. I pull them out once every six months to reread them.I love all of the Smith Clan especially Dee Ann and Jessica and BobbyRay's story in the beast in him was so heart warming, funny and compassionate. The packs and the pack politics are so entertaining and Jessieann Ward was such a great alpha female I could not put the book down. The entire series leaves me happy and content everytime I read it. I hope Shelly Laurenston will continue to work on it when she finishes her other projects.

Low life quarrelsome characters

The first story was good. The second pretty good. By the third I was getting annoyed and I thought I just didn’t like the couple much. But by the fourth I realized why I was still annoyed: I felt like I was watching a Jerry Springer family fight. I get that the shifters are part animal but the punching in the face just got old especially with women! Then the descriptions of eating seal blubber and other bloody details about food consumption was just over the top. Was this supposed to be funny? The romance was negligible and the sex descriptive and bordering on bondage. The animal nature of the shifters lacked input from their human side. I have limped through the four book volume from the library but still haven’t finished it. However, the amoral, violent, and quarrelsome characters are just not in my future.

I've completely screwed up the reading order of this series because of the fact I bought 4 books as part of a bundle pack assuming they were in correct reading order. Will never make that mistake again, there's nothing more that I hate than reading a series out of order!
As for the series LOVE IT!!!
Shelly is an amazing and talented writer who has a talent for making you fall in love with her characters.

Loved this introduction to the Pride series. I laughed and enjoyed each one of the 4 stories. My only issue was that it went from books 1 and 2 to books 6 and 7. It spoiled some of the relationships I haven't read yet (although now I must go back and read Blayne's story and Sissy's etc.). Ms. Laurenston writes an entertaining series which I will have to read in its entirety.

Super good

Whether you like your comedy with a side order of romance or your romance with laugh- out-loud, wacky humor, this series is worth a read. There are shifters aplenty of all shapes and sizes and steamy romance and bad ass fights. Plenty of action of all varieties populated with engaging and entertaining characters. Laurenston has a rare talent.

Laurenston has an interesting and very steamy take on shifters. What I enjoy most is just how well the characters have integrated their human and their beast sides. I really enjoy the way the author has created a shifter society which intersects but is yet separate from contemporary modern society. So intriguing - I keep looking to see if I can find places like Smithville around home.

Old favorites

I've read these books multiple times and have them in print & ebook form. Shelly Laurenston is one of my favorite authors and an auto buy for me. I enjoy her books and read them multiple times. She's a fun read with strong kick ass females and the alpha males who adore them and don't stand in their way while they kick said ass. Love it!

The first time I read the Magnus pack, which are the first 3 books in this shifter series, I got annoyed that I didn't get to hear more about this hardcore biker pack, this tough chick I'd just gotten to know. After the 2nd and the 3rd book, I was won over, but didn't know how I felt about the books, generally have a plot which is all about mating.
Have read them all, the whole shebang of her shifter series, it' s become a universe I come back to now and again. Each book is revisiting with people we already know from the other books, and them intertwining, with friendships and mates. -And sex..alot of it.
What keeps me hangin though, is the characthers of the story, who I think are well described, each with a personality you get to know well, and laugh at and with as they 'check in', in the other books.

My favorites are the ice and honey prone bears..

The Beast in Him was a great read. I could almost hear the southern twang in Bobby Ray's voice. I love reading stories where the main lady is a strong independent woman. At first I didn't think Jessi Ann was that kind of character, but she develops into one. This story had really well developed characters. Now on to The Mane Event.
I just finished The Mane Event. This was a great story, but the book was in the wrong order. The Mane Event should have gone before The Beast in Him. I just started Big Bad Beast and it picks up about 3/4 of the way through The Mane Event. Once you get past the books being in the wrong order, the writing was great. I love reading Shelly Laurenston books.

This is my first Shelly Laurenston book and I thoroughly enjoyed the read! All the characters, both human & shifters, were very distinct and loveable. There were times I found myself 'lion' around rereading certain parts because they were just so 'dog' gone funny. From the accents to the family/friendship bonds it was a total go. I cannot wait for my next Laurenston read.

I give it 4 snaps & a chuckle

You cannot go wrong with this author and her books.
I love books by this author. I have read this PRIDE series so many times and still enjoy them immensely.
A fantastic series that is also a very entertaining read. See separate reviews for these books.
I just really wish Ms Laurenston would put them into a proper book bundle in correct order. Not sure why this bundle is split like this.

Buy this book.

Launceston is a fantastic author. Once you finish one book you want to continue reading. With this 4 book pack you now can. There's only one problem with this book. It finally ends, and that's a bummer.
