About the author

Heinrich Christian Wilhelm Busch was an influential German caricaturist, painter, and poet who is famed for his satirical picture stories with rhymed texts.

After initially studying mechanical engineering and then art in Düsseldorf, Antwerp, and Munich, he turned to drawing caricatures. One of his first picture stories, Max and Moritz (published in 1865), was an immediate success and has achieved the status of a popular classic and perennial bestseller.

A nice childhood classic I simply had to read again! Humoristic and a little dark sometimes, the many tales I didn't remember will surely stay in my mind for quite a while now. I hope that the generations to come will still be listening to and reading Wilhelm Busch stories.

A German comic from the early 1900s. Some of the stories were interesting, but many were just gross. I know I also didn't understand or pick up on many of the colloquialisms.
