With one accusation, army officer Cassidy Matthews's name, reputation-and life-are on the line. A Special Forces soldier insists that Cassy's Fort Bragg-based unit is smuggling drugs. And the accuser? It's Cassy's handsome, stubborn ex-husband, Major Shane Logan. Shane knows Cassy is innocent, which is why he's sure she's being set up to take the fall. Proving it, though, means working together…and trying to ignore the feelings they still share. The closer they get-to the truth and each other-the more the danger grows from a ruthless criminal who'll stop at nothing to destroy them both.

This was one of the better ones; perhaps in the top ten of the over 100 I have read. Both protagonists were allowed to be strong, and neither needed "rescuing" by the other.
I wonder if this series has editors. The book had a glaring error any good editor would have caught.
Such a great story!! I read it so quickly, couldn't put it down. This is one of the best LIS I've ever read. I'm definitely going to find more of this author's books.
I really liked the fact that the resolution of the book was Shane and Cassy realizing that their reunion was part of God's perfect timing. The divorced couple had to work through misunderstandings and anger, but the themes of trust and protection were handled brilliantly throughout. The stakes of the investigation they found themselves entangled in were vital without being overly dramatic. It's a romance novel, but it's a well-conceived and well-written one.
Love this author and this book! I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed watching the characters struggle through their past and depend on the Lord through their trials. Shane and Cassidy were divorced but had never talked through what happened. Shane heard some intel about drug smuggling and was investigating it when he came upon Cassidy. They had to fight through their hurt and anger while fighting an unknown adversary.
This book is full of mystery and suspense, and I had not completely figured it out until close to the end. It's also about second chances, and looking to God for fulfillment and purpose, and trusting in His perfect will and plan for our lives. Well written and great characters!
I love this book! I am reading it for research purposes so I can write my manuscript for nanowrimo. I love Jodie Bailey and her writing style. Always makes me giggle from time to time.
Didn't improve. A few nice suspenseful moments were completely ruined by soap opera insipidness. Too much lip pressing--apparently the writer struggles with varying facial expressions. He pressed his lips together and then she pressed her lips together, and then Anderson pressed his lips together while Shane was pressing his lips together just as Jackson burst in, his lips pressed together.
Way too much 'oh, how I wanted to take her in my arms, but she'd never have it.' I realize any writer who wants to write for this series is chained to a formula, but you don't revel in it so long that you let all the air out of the plot and suspense, only to have to build it up again later. This wasn't one of the best reads I've seen in LI Suspense. At least it wasn't yet another story about a woman who owns a bed and breakfast/floral shop/cafe/bistro. Where's all the single Christian women who cashier at the grocery store or work the line at a factory? We're out here, unfashionable though we may be.
Debut author, Jodie Bailey is going to become a household name. Her romantic suspense started out with a bang and grabbed me by throat, hanging on all the way through.
Her characters were real. Flawed. Fun. And brave.
If you enjoy reading romance, you'll definitely want to read this one. The hero and heroine are divorced but the chemistry sizzles on every page. They made me laugh, cry and most importantly...hope.
This story isn't packed with just action, military style, and romance. It's full of grace, mercy, forgiveness, and redemption.
It's written from a Christian faith-based view, but it isn't done in a preachy way.
Jodie has style and quick-wit. To me, that's icing on the cake. I enjoyed every delicious bite.
Fear, trust, hate, regrets, forgiveness and faith. Freefall is a book with many layers. I seemed to get lost, found, confused and aware all at the same time. Cassidy and Shane will have you totally enthralled with the peril they are put into. Not seeing each other for ten years….then being thrown together for a common good. Everyone needs a hero, but not the person you think………our hero is God.
I’d like to thank Jodie Bailey for sending me a copy of her book to read and review.
As far as the Love Inspired Suspense stories go, Jodie Bailey has been one of the best I've found. I thoroughly enjoyed the story. It moved along at a great pace and the author did an excellent job of making multiple characters look suspicious, so I honestly had no idea how the story would turn out. I liked having a strong female main character. Great read for those who enjoy suspense that will keep you guessing.
A friend of a friend wrote this book and its great! I love that it is tied to the military without being overly army. I love the mystery and it has just enough romance woven into the story. I also really enjoyed the Christian beliefs and faith that was sprinkled. I can't wait to read the others by this fellow army spouse!
This was a very good story with plenty of action and kept me guessing as to what was going on. A very nice job done by this author. I enjoyed the book. I think you will too. A quick read.
Love Inspired Suspense Set in Fort Bragg Cassidy and her ex-husband, both in the military, have to solve a drug smuggling mystery that Cassidy is being framed for.
