The final orders of General Andrew Criswell’s career just arrived from Earth Star Alliance command. It’s a seemingly simple task; go to an auction and win. The item for sale: interstellar supremacy.
In the 25th century, humanity has run out of the rare element that drives all starflight. A massive new source has been discovered and its location immediately hijacked by a soulless corporate monopoly that demands their cut of the action. They invite the three most powerful political factions in the known Universe to an auction that promises complete domination over the galaxy’s most valuable resource.
With a mighty strider war machine commanded by his daughter, Criswell travels to the outer rim of explored space to represent the Alliance. Can he win the war on the bidding floor, or will the issue be settled on the battlefield? Only one faction can be victorious.
Whilst there were some interesting moments, the overall pace seemed slow. I find it quite extraordinary that so many people could be duped so easily. Perhaps the next book will be faster paced. The general certainly needs some luck going his way.
