One part biography, one part prayer book, The Life and Prayers of Saint Michael the Archangel is an essential book for any Christian. Saint Michael is the Defender of the Faith and of our Church. As Christians we pray each day that he stands with us through this life and beyond. Saint Michael the Archangel is the most revered archangel within the Church throughout history and today but his pre-eminence transcends the history of the Christian Church. Saint Michael’s role extends far beyond the war with the enemy here on Earth; it embraces every single member of the Church. His venerated name is invoked on a daily basis for protection, for healing, for consolation and by the dying as they make their final journey to God’s Eternal Kingdom, seeking to avoid the desolation of Purgatory.
A wonderful devotional to a most powerful help-meet in all our trials.
Since this little book met all my needs, satisfying my desire to know more of St. Michael and providing prayers to say to this powerful protector, I personally gave this little book the highest rating I could provide.
Simply put, 5 stars! 👍🏾🙏🏽He is the king of all Archangels. I will add this devotion to my daily atomic habit to Jesus every morning. To echo what Juanita stated in her review, A wonderful devotional to a most powerful help-meet in all our daily trials and repetitive sins that we as humans consciously commit.
This book provides the reader a great deal of information about St. Michael and all the areas that we can ask for his protection. Well written and very enlightening.
It was a pretty good read, but I am not really impressed. It was more prayer and less resource material of Michael. But I accepted from the Bible we don't really know much about him. It's great to know how I find him in the sainted scripts. It is a great help in my resource.
I am sorry that the Catholic Church puts so much emphasis on devotion to anyone other than Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. There is nowhere in the holy scriptures that we are taught to pray to angels or to the mother of Christ. Jesus, in The Lord’s prayer taught us to pray to God the Father. Nowhere are we taught to pray to angels or to the mother of the Lord. To do so is to follow man-made doctrines. Please stick to the patterns given in the Holy Scriptures.
This was a very short read, but as someone who is really just coming to learn more about my Catholic faith and the Catholic faith in general I enjoyed it. I learned some things I didn’t know and it’s made me realize how important praying fo Saint Michael is. I am very fascinated and drawn to the lives of the Saints. Informative, interesting and all around a simple, good read... I will be reading more about Saint Michael.
A very competently organized collection of all historical references to St. Michael the Archangel, along with helpful prayers, hymns and litanies. I especially liked the Angelic Crown - chaplet of St. Michael - a series of nine salutations presented to a nun in 1751 that Michael said he would like to be honored with. Some of the spacing is a little weird, though.
We are engaged in spiritual warfare and we need to be more aware of the battle around us and better equipped to bear our load in this warfare but always trusting in Jesus.
This book is an example of our Catholic faith. Reading this book really makes me feel much better and reminds me that God will help us through the tough times. It gives a great history about St Michael in the bible.
Very well written. Brings to mind, we are all in need of Saint Michaels protection daily. It has a great Novena & prayers in the last part of the book. The prayers are worth the book alone.
The edition I have is poorly formatted and it really interrupted the flow of the book. I also found the organization to be weird. But what really bothered me was the fact that Archangel was misspelled on the cover.
A Beautiful short read on Archangel Michael. I loved the prayers in the last section. I also learned a few things I didn’t know. Recommend to anyone who loves him!
First, a confession. I picked this up primarily because of the Michael references in the series, Supernatural and how prominently he is featured in seasons 1-5. I thought it would be interesting to pick up the background, but really I learned very little in addition to what they present in the show.
I always find it interesting to read reviews, especially when they are so divergent from your own. I don't know exactly what the 5-star reviewers saw in this book. It is, as one reviewer put it "well intentioned" - but it's a random collection of references to Michael in various places (none are cited though maybe that's because I read the Kindle version?) in a seemingly random order.
I can't say I didn't like it (the 1 star alt-tag meaning), but it wasn't particularly good either. Unless you just want the collection of prayers at the end of the book - then maybe it would fit the bill. It is short though so a quick read.
A great overview of Saint Michael's history and importance. I feel I will be invoking him often. The book also includes some beautiful poetry, as well as the Saint Michael prayer. In recent years, this has fallen into disuse but it's a fitting prayer for bad times. Saint Michael the Archangel, pray for us, and protect us.
Short book but very informative and interesting. Found out more about st michael the archangel and then have various prayers I can use when stuck for words. A great inspiration for these troubling times.
Excellent information on perhaps th greatest Saint
Thru Sunday school, catechism and other religious studies I have always been interested in the many Saints, their historical background, what they represent and who honor them.
I'd recommend it to anyone who has ever been moved or felt the guiding, loving presence. I have always found that following the prayers bring a peaceful aura around my heart.
