I love Rafe and Zoe together, their connection was intense from the start. Their strength of character and love of the outdoors complement each other and force them to test their emotional boundaries throughout the story. This is an amazing start to what will be a fantastic series. I can’t wait to read the next story in this series!!

A very satisfying read with a lot of action, drama, and sassy bantering between Zoe and Rafe. From the very beginning of this book the suspenseful and adrenaline inducing storyline grabbed my attention. Zoe witnesses the activists who bomb the ski resort she is training at and she ends up in protective custody and turned over to Rafe from Mountain Ops.
Rafe is expecting a low risk assignment to escort a witness to the FBI when he walks out of the small town police department with Zoe, bullets start flying and they end up in the run in the snowy mountains.
The storyline moves fast and is very entertaining. I only wish the storyline would have included a few additional and specific scenes. The storyline jumps from Zoe being safe and contemplating her future and then the next chapter is am epilogue talking about her results the Olympics. I would have really enjoyed seeing Zoe competing especially since the book opens with Zoe flying down the mountain on training runs.

I loved the Xtreme Ops series and was excited to see this author was now going to have her characters take on the Cascade Mountains. This was a fantastic story of survival while on the run from activists willing to kill to promote their beliefs. Rafe is the team leader for the Mountain Ops team and feels love and family can never be a part of his future based on his past. He is a survivalist, into extreme sports and is at home being a part of the great outdoors. Zoe's only dream is to be make the Olympic Alpine Ski Team, but time is running out for her due to her age. Rafe and Zoe are wonderful together as they traverse the dangerous conditions trying to avoid the killers, the wildlife and the winter hazards. Great beginning to a new series.

Going for the win
Rafe and Zoe. I think Rafe is one of my favorite literary names because anytime there is a Rafe the story is going to be full of action packed and steamy scenes. Cora played a good role in the book and we saw a newish character in Tripp, but the others were mainly just referenced. The loss of a teammate was surprising, especially with the secret. The danger was a surprise and not really the focus of the story. The descriptions of the weather and mountain was colorful and made a scary situation sound lovely. I flew through the story and can’t wait for Tripps story and hope it covers whatever the issue is for him to keep looking at emails and reports!

What a great start to a new series, Rafe is put in charge of a newly formed group. All skilled men at home in mountainous areas.
Zoe is a champion skier, coming back to the lodge she witnesses something that could get her killed. Rafe is sent to transport her, only circumstances has them on the run. Only someone experienced in this environment could traverse this terrain. Days went by as they escaped bullets and baddies.
This was one exciting book from start to finish, I can't wait for the next one.

Wow, this story certainly started with a bang and continued this theme all the way through. Rafe is put in charge of a black ops team and his first job is to protect a young woman from being harmed after she witnesses a bombing, however their path to safety is fraught with danger. They soon discover a very hot sexual attraction which can’t be denied. A great story for the start of a new series, loved it.

OMG. Non-stop action from the first page. Rafe and Zoe are on the run from extremists that bombed the resort that Zoe was practicing for Olympic trials.
Will Rafe be able to keep Zoe safe and get her to the FBI to tell them what and who she saw?
Ms. Petrova, you have another hit on your hands. I was unable to put it down until the end. I can't wait for the next one.

Sergeant Rafe Sheppard is a trained Marine and is excited to join the Operation Freedom Flag Mountain Ops team. He is chosen to be the leader of their unit. They are being sent into the mountains to fight terrorism.
Zoe Brady is 30 and training hard because she has one last chance to medal for the US Alpine Ski team. This is probably her last chance to go to the Olympics. She and her coach Vic are at Montague Mountain Resort. It’s almost dark but Zoe wants one more run down the mountain. Vic goes inside and tells her to meet him for some hot chocolate after her final run of the day. As Zoe is heading into the resort, she sees four men in snow camo come around the corner, jump into a SUV and take off. One of the men stares right into Zoe’s eyes. A second later, the walls shake and there’s an explosion.
Rafe takes the rookie, Jack Richmond with him on assignment to toughen him up. Their assignment is to pick up Zoe at the local police station and keep her safe until handing her over to the FBI. Leaving the police station, they are ambushed and Richmond is shot in the chest and dies. Rafe grabs Zoe, throws her into the SUV and tries to take off. The check engine light and other warning lights go off. Rafe runs the SUV into a snow bank. He and Zoe try to hide it as much as possible.
Rafe grabs the 3 packs and starts up the mountain with Zoe. Rafe is confused by the feelings he is having about Zoe. She’s beautiful and resilient which is a dangerous combination for his lust. Zoe distracts herself from the danger and thought so the explosion by staring at Rafe’s gorgeous body.
Can Rafe keep Zoe safe until his team can find them? Will they keep their lust for each other at bay? Will Zoe get her chance for an Olympic Gold Medal?
Another cool book from Em Petrova. I can’t wait to read more about the MT Ops team.

Rafe Sheppard has recently been put in charge of a new team, a division of Homeland Security, the Mountain Ops. This former Marine is well suited for this challenging position. He is a thrill junkie and the Cascade Mountains will be just like home to him. Zoe Brady, thirty years old, is practicing in the Cascade Mountains for her last chance at an Olympic Gold. She is vying for a spot on the US Alpine Ski Team. She is pushing herself hard on the slopes. Zoe wants one more pass tonight, and that may have saved her life. As she reaches the lodge it explodes. Zoe watches as several guys make their escape. They are the ones responsible for the explosion and one is staring her right into her eyes. There are various homeland terrorist groups setting up camp in these isolated Mountains and this murderous group now wants the eyewitness dead. Zoe is in terrible danger.
The action starts almost immediately and from then to the end it is “on the edge of your seat” danger. Zoe is in amazing physical condition allowing her to stay right up with Rafe. He is impressed and very attracted to her. These two were made for each other. I loved their building attraction and the fact Zoe was not a weakling in any way. Rafe is a tough guy who has gentle feelings. He shows his soft side by appreciating nature and the scenery surrounding him. Zoe is in love with this bossy gentle giant. Rafe is in love with this strong caring beautiful lady. AWESOME STORY with wonderful characters! I received an advanced copy of this story from Booksprout and these are my thoughts. Linda

I enjoyed this first in series of the MtOps, (love that series label too).
Zoe is practicing to make the Olympics one final time, before she's too old to compete, when all h*ll breaks lose at the ski resort. She's the only witness who saw the bombers. The newly formed MtOps team gets called in to escort her to the FBI. Rafe, and his pick of Richmond, figure this is a low level risk assignment so those two go alone with the others on standby.
They're headed up the mountain when the risk becomes major as in being shot at and chased, it stays pretty intense throughout their journey.
I didn't know a tent could be pitched on the side of a mountain, and I give Zoe five stars for hanging in there, literally and figuratively. Her and Rafe's chemistry is sizzlin' even in the frigid temps, and while they're trying to stay safe from the bombers.
Thank goodness for happy endings, this was a heck of ride for these two. I loved how it ended. Now waiting for the next journey in this series!
(On a side note: Richmond was a newbie, rather an unknown. I was shocked with what happened. It and the resulting explanation felt very realistic, and sad. I feel the conclusion was left open, maybe to be explained later in the series, or dropped.

Wow!!!! Author Em Petrova sure knows how to start a new series off with a bang! I've got a serious girl crush! Zoe is strong, independent, gutsy, bad arse, determined, and most definitely F-I-E-R-C-E! Rafe is the perfect complement to her strong personality. He knows when to be "bossy" and when to let her shine and excel. Their story was beyond entertaining to watch unfold.

Rafe Sheppard chosen to head an elite military group Operation Freedom Flag Mountain Ops to fight domestic terrorism in the upper US Rocky Mountains finally felt like his military career had paid off. He was doing what he really loved. He enjoyed the outdoors, that area of the Rocky Mountains, and extreme sports. All things that would pay off big time in this new position. Early on he was assigned to protect and escort a witness, Zoe Brady from the bombing of an up scale resort to the FBI which he thought would be a walk in the park, but he lost a man as soon as they walked out the door of the police station. Rafe had Zoe managed to take off in a SUV but did not make it far, before it quit, and they had to start cross country to meet the FBI. Zoe had been at the resort training for the US Olympics Ski Team so she was in top physical condition to make the trek across the snow/ice covered mountain. The weather nor the terrain were forgiving in any aspect with the possibility of a terrorist behind every tree or outcropping. Plenty of reasons for Zoe to loose her composure, but Rafe soon learned that she had a depth to her that he had under estimated her as a person. They soon learned that they had more in common than they realized. Enjoy this fabulous action packed, suspense filled, romance, thrill seeking, live or die novel.

This is the 1st book in the MT OPS series featuring the fast-paced action-packed steamy romance between Rafe and Zoe. Rafe is a former Marine who is thrilled when he is tasked to be the leader of the new Mountain OPS due to his love of extreme sports. All of the men on the team will be carefully selected to fight foreign &domestic terrorism and they'll be all over the country with Rafe being in the Cascade Mountains. Their first assignment is to protect Zoe a very talented skier who's training really hard for the US Alpine Ski Team it's her last chance. Everything changes when Zoe witnesses a bombing and she's put under Rafe's protection and Rafe has to stop the evil supremacist who has very bad intentions all while keeping Zoe safe and the chemistry between them is HOT! I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this fast-paced action-packed steamy romance to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book and I'm looking forward to the next book in this exciting series.

The wonderful thing about this author is that no matter what "theme" her new series decides to explore, there will be danger, excitement, a sexy hero, a beautiful woman in danger and so much hot, sexual chemistry that the pages want to catch fire. Rafe Shepherd has dedicated his life to protecting others through his career in one area of the military or another and now he has been tasked to be the leader of the Moutain Ops team. Zoe has set her sights on winning the Gold Medal in skiing, but her quest is thrown off course when she witnesses men bombing the ski resort she is training at. Rafe has been tasked to protect her and get her safely to the FBI so she can provide the details she witnessed in hopes of bring the terrorists to justice. This was supposed to be an easy task, but Rafe quickly finds that he must use all his talents to keep Zoe safe and while doing that, he finds that he also finds the woman who he didn't know he was looking for. Exceptional start to a great new series and I can't wait until book two is released.

Rafe and Zoe
This was a fantastic start to a new Ops series. It was full of adventure and suspense and romance. I have loved all the Ops series and I love that they all start with a man who thinks a happily ever after isn’t in the works for him.
Rafe is the leader of the new Mountain Ops team. This was a fantastic start to a new Ops series. It was full of adventure and suspense and romance. I have loved all the Ops series and I love that they all start with a man who thinks a happily ever after isn’t in the works for him.

Right out of the gate two wins - Start of a new series (grab it now, don't be left behind) and a new OPS series! I absolutely loved all the Extreme OPS, then intrigue and suspense were great so when Em Petrova decided to carry the series to the mountains I was on board. Mountains, Snow, Alpha OPs guys, suspense, Yes!!! This pulled me in when Rafe gets called to the commanders, sigh. I was so excited with him when he learns about the new OPS Teams. We meet Zoe racing down the hill in her practice attempt to make the Olympic Team. After witnessing a bombing she is held at the police station to wait for the FBI. Lucky Rafe gets to escort her. There is non stop action, both from being on the run and the bedroom scenes minus the bedroom. One of the extreme camping scenes had me backing up. I think I would have let the bad guy catch me. Page turner that delivers on suspense, intrigue and xxxx steam. Great new beginning. Thank you for the arc! Mountain Protector is book one of the MT OPS series. Wow - what a start to a series! Fantastic! Fast paced, action packed, overflowing off the charts red hot chemistry. Rafe a former Marine is promoted as leader of a new Mountain OPS division, he has come up in the ranks, worked hard and he’s well trained in foreign and domestic terrorism especially in the Mountain Ranges during all the seasons. This OP assignment involves a thirty year old female Zoe a skier who is in the Cascade Mountains training for what is to be her last chance at a Gold Medal for the US Alpine Ski Team up until she witnesses a bombing and the perpetrators leaving the scene, they see her as well! Rafe, along with his team are tasked with keeping Zoe safe and delivering her quickly and safely to the FBI. Hang on tight this story has lots of steamy chemistry with the pages full of anger, danger, angst, anxiety. A must read! Can’t wait for book Two. Tired, unable to reach on her coach, Zoe had anxiously waited at the police station for hours, she was fussy when extreme ops team leader Rafe Sheppard and recruit Richmond get to the police station. They’re her transport from the police station to a safe house to await the FBI.
During the short walk from the door to their ruck, Richmond’s gunned down and they barely make it to the now damaged truck. Rafe has no choice but to take Zoe across the mountains on foot. Luckily, they have backpacks of equipment and Zoe was used to snow because before long, four men have tracked them. Rafe doesn’t hesitate to polish his combat skills to take out the quartet. Rafe and Zoe get along and grow close since, unfortunately, they aren’t the only team hunting them on the mountain as snow and sleet move in.

Rafe Sheppard was part of the Mountain Ops team being recruited from his Marine unit. He grew up as an outdoorsman and loved the mountains, so being assigned to the Cascades in Washington State was like coming home to him. Zoe Brady was an Alpine skier who was training for her final run at making the Olympics for the Alpine Ski Team. On getting back from her final run at a resort in the Cascades, she sees team of men in camo ski suits on an ATV, and then an explosion hits the lodge...mayhem ensues with her being the only witness. Tasked with picking Zoe up to meet with FBI to go over what she saw and to get descriptions of the men involved, Rafe and the team rookie Jack head to the town nearest resort to pick up Zoe from Sheriff's Department...and that's when the task became a FUBAR with Zoe and Rafe on foot being tracked by the killers for an edge-of-your seat ride through the Cascades...I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Mountain Protector: MT Ops Book 1 series by Em Petrova is a hot, instant-love romance between Zoe Brady, an Olympic hopeful, and Rafe Alan Sheppard, a military black Ops leader affiliated with Homeland Security. Zoe inadvertently witnessed terrorists set off a bomb that killed and injured people. They saw her and are after her. Rafe, thinking his assignment is going to be an easy one, is supposed to deliver her to the FBI so that she can give them a statement. Rafe and Zoe are attacked, and it becomes his mission to protect her. As they hide from the bad guys and tackle the dangerous winter environment, they both have personal reasons for not wanting to fall in love; however, they do so rather quickly. The story is good, and the convoluted mystery and suspense keep readers’ attention to the end; however, there were areas that would have been better with more explanation and detail, especially, Rafe’s support of her Olympic endeavors. It was a quick and interesting read.

I’ve found that anytime I see Em Petrova’s name on a romantic suspense series I’m guaranteed a fun fast read. This one is no different. Rafe is the leader of a spec ops team attached to Homeland Security to counter domestic terrorism. Zoe is a skier training for the next Olympic Games, probably her last due to her age. She witnesses a group speeding away from a ski lodge right before it’s rocked by explosions. Rafe is assigned to pick her up and deliver her to the FBI for protection since she was seen by the terrorists. Gunmen attack them, killing Rafe’s teammate and sending them into the snowy mountains to escape.
Fast paced and action packed, this book didn’t disappoint. Can’t wait for the next one in the series.

Rafe has many demons, but rescuing Zoe and keeping her safe as they run makes him realise he wants more, he wants everything....with her!
Zoe goes from an exhilarating high to terrifying, run for your life low. Rafe provides safety but her also sends her pulse skittering wildly....even when running for her life! Rafe and Zoe are very steamy together, but they also click on a soul deep level, they both have baggage but for the first time they find they can share that baggage with someone else and ease the load. This is a great beginning of a new series of books. When a ski resort is bombed and there is only one witness to describe the bombers, Rafe Sheppard and his team are sent to retrieve the witness for the FBI. Zoe Brady is the witness and Rafe has an immediate attraction to Zoe. Things go from bad to worse as Rafe looses his partner and Rafe and Zoe have to go on the run through the mountains in the middle of winter to try to survive the terrorists and hope that his team can find them and get them out alive. There are lots of twists and turns as these two begin to fall in love and make the best they can with what they survive with. Neither one expects love to surface in blinding snowstorms and neither know how to deal with it. Lots of twists and turns with this read and has you just waiting for the next book in the series. A really good read.

Then the lodge blows up and she sees the car driving past and the man sees her, too. Rafe is with a new special ops team, Mountain Ops, he's called to escort Zoe to the FBI. On the way, they are attacked. Now they are on the run through the mountains in the winter. They start to have an attraction that neither one needs or wants but it can't be denied. Will Rafe be able to keep his promise of getting Zoe to safety? What will happen to their budding relationship once that happens? Em Petrova is a fantastic writer of this kind of action/romance book. I've enjoyed several series of hers and this new one is going to be great, too. I'm already looking forward to the next book.

This is the first book in the MT Ops series. I love all the Ops series so reading this one was an automatic yes please can't put it down. MT Ops is based in the Cascade Mountains and just like all the other Ops teams these guys are the best of the best and were recruited to the team for their special skills. Rafe is the teams leader. He takes the rookie member of the team on what he believes will be an easy, quick mission to take a witness to their FBI contacts. Unfortunately things go sideways quickly and Rafe and Zoe find themselves running for their lives. Their bickering soon turns to attraction that neither of them can resist. Steamy, page turning, couldn't put it down. I can't wait to get my hands on book two.

I really enjoyed this suspense romance story . It's full of adrenaline packed action and the characters are fantastic Zoe is the perfect match to Rafe . While Zoe Brady is skiing at Montague Mountain Resort she runs across terrorists that set a bomb at the resort . Sergeant Rafe Sheppard is leader of Operation Freedom Flag Mountain Ops . He's sent to protect Zoe and deliver her to the FBI . Nothing is ever as easy as it seems . Before they get very far things go south . they find themselves fighting for their lives in the deadly terrain of the mountains . They also find feelings the neither expected . This is definitely a Sensational Suspense Romance . I highly recommend taking the time to read .
