I am a contributor featured in this book. My story is how we as a family came together to help my mother with her seizures. The other amazing stories range anywhere from a newly wed couple who's life was changed by a TBI to sports related TBI and even a soldier. The stories are amazing because they are true. It's the kind of book that people need to read to understand patience, hope, and above all understanding of their fellow humans. In this book I read a story about a girl who was very smart but after a TBI had trouble counting change and an unkind man called her stupid. No one knows what another person lives with and people with TBI look perfectly normal. The stories made me cry. The pain is so close to home but also totally unique to the people who had the courage to tell their stories. I am so proud to have my own story surrounded by the stories of such remarkable people. Chicken Soup has created yet another book that will jerk your heart and emotions. I can't even express what this book has to say because there is so much covered within its pages. I guess what Chicken Soup really gives us is a way to connect with similar people and above all to mankind.
This was a wonderful book! I’m definitely keeping my copy to refer to later as it is a great reference for TBI survivors and their friends or family members. It is, just as the cover says, 101 great stories of hope, healing and hard work. These factors (hope, healing and hard work) are so crucial after TBI and any traumatic or troubling experience in life I will continue to use this book for a reference in my career helping others recover from TBI or other experiences and personally. I’m very thankful that I discovered this book while working for NeuroRestorative KY!
TBI stories for survivors and those that suppport them
This book contains real stories about this devastating injury that doctors tend to give a poor prognosis but time and time again the marvelous of the brain finds a way. As a survivor myself, I was able to regain most of my favorites but was not believed when I tried to apply for disability. One doctor even suggested that I was "exaggerating" my symptoms. It was good to see that my symptoms were.validated by others who struggled just as I did.
I highly recommend this book be read by everyone. I have received many reports about how eye opening it is, about the hidden plight of TBI survivors and those who relate to them! Definitely read!

As a TBI survivor, I could definitely relate to many of these experiences. Life after TBI is definitely a new normal. It helps to read these experiences because it helps us to understand that we are not alone in living with these issues we face every day.
Good book - especially when it comes to learning more about brain injuries. I felt like some of the stories are a bit repetitive, but then again, the main struggles in a brain injury are the same for everyone.
This is a good book for friends, families, and workers with people with Traumatic Brain Injury--as well as the patients themselves. It tells from various points of view, stories and advice on handling this life difficulty.
All the 5’s! What a magnificent book. I found myself nodding and smiling and sighing. Not until a TBI is part of your world can you truly appreciate the resilience of spirit in this book of short stories. Like these marvelous people, my youngest son is a miracle.
