If you are reading this review for the apex answer, do not read this book. You can practice these methods, however, as you engross yourself in to God's Holy Word. You will hear. You will hear.

I read close to 40% of this book before deleting it. It wasn't what I was looking for and felt that I wasn't getting much out of it.

The book's main focus is two-way journaling in which the author claims we can 'hear God's voice.' This is very similar to automatic writing in which you simply listen to what is being said and writing down what you hear. To accomplish this you use a meditative process to allow an entity to write through you. While journaling is good in order to record what God is doing in your life, can we expect God to respond to us every time we sit down to write? The Bible says that God's ways are not our ways. God speaks to us in many ways including through music, difficulties in our lives and in our suffering. There are many errors in this book that are not biblical. Please do some research and look for yourself to see if what the author says is true compared to what God says in his Word.

Does God still speak to man today? The book addresses the question. Mark Virkler addresses a crucial issue for modern Christian stuck in rationalistic and humanistic approaches to Christianity. But is the a supernatural element to God's relationship to man still valid today? In very practical ways, Virkler addresses these issues using the Bible and His charismatic perspective. I admit, his teachings have challenged my views, but in so doing, it has challenged me to rethink my approach to God on the relational side. If you choose to read the book, take it in bit-size chucks as you do, and allow it to sink in slowly.

This book had the biggest and best impact on my prayer life. It is a purely biblical and safe approach to entering into a conversational relationship with God. It is NOT new-agey... I believe it is HOW God longs to be in relationship with all of us.
Definately read.. and try it for yourself!

While sometimes tediously analytical in it's approach, I appreciate the approach to hearing God's voice through dreams, visual images and journaling. A friend lent me the corresponding DVD's and I actually enjoyed them more than the book.

A wonderful book explaining how to listen to our Heavenly Father. He wants to talk to us, we just need to listen. A very practical book. I read this as part of a class at Christian Leadership University.
