Born the son of a wealthy philanthropist, Griffiths was orphaned by crime at a formative age, and subsequently raised by the family's kindly butler.
Nursing a bone-deep rage at the loss of his parents, Griffiths invested his inherited billions into extensive combat training and the development of sophisticated technology which he now uses to bring justice to the streets of -
No, wait. That's Batman. Sheesh. I always do this.
I was born in Wales, and lost myself in books as soon as I discovered them. That kid who hangs out in the library. Yeah, that was me.
I never wanted to be anything other than a writer/superhero and eventually I moved to London, finding work as a journalist and editor, before turning to writing horror and science fiction, and being continually amazed that people actually read it.
Not really into zombie stories but I read the first book, Panic and it was good enough to get me to read book 2 since I had purchased it some time ago but never read it. Since I already had it, I read it. Book 2 was good enough to order book 3, Psychosis. I just ordered the remaining 3 books in the series as we are now getting seriously interested. Lots of characters to keep track of. Lots of going back to unnecessary back stories but lots of action and the author does an exceptional job of describing what is happening. Jake was a little difficult to figure out...actually, I still haven't figured him out. The characters are well written and interesting and the plot, though pretty incredible, moves along logically, if hard to believe. I like this author. Ready to start book 4.
The series is now introducing new concepts which is moving the plot on at a faster pace, which is great. We have some new sinister characters, and some new nicer ones too. With the survivors learning what makes the zombies tick, there are some thrilling scenes in this book. I don't think it could stand alone because even though I'm following the series, there are scenes where I get a little lost in the plot as we flit from different groups of survivors. Overall, I'm loving it.
The author did a fantastic job of moving between characters and their psychotic tendencies. I wondered how often he lost track while writing. On to Mutations!!
Why is it that in nearly any story like this, there’s a parent trying to find their child, and despite probably one-in-a-million chances, they always manage to find each other? At least there’s plenty of tension to Claire’s story; it quickens the pacing nicely. But the plot arc is so familiar that it was a given how it would end. I do love that eight-year-old Claire uses her experience playing Tetris to find her way out of a bad spot.
The Infected are starting to communicate with each other using humming noises, and now they’re developing purposeful herds. There isn’t much about how or why this is happening, but it’s a nice difference from most other similar tales. We find out that even animals are infected–a rat bit Jason, but nothing happens with that. If the infection is zoonotic, shouldn’t we see it passing to humans from animals in addition to passing to animals from humans? We do see interesting variations on the infected, such as a woman who appears outwardly normal but, following a bite from one of the Infected, can ‘feel’ where they are.
Jake is a horrific character. He is straight-out evil. He’s a rapist and killer who’s now been given something like the abilities of the Infected–another truly stupid call on the part of the cabal of bad guys. The story certainly doesn’t assume any intelligence on the part of powerful and wealthy people, which makes it hard to understand how they got to the point they’re at. We’re talking about thousands of people secreted away on nearly twenty bases around the world. That had to take some serious smarts to set up, particularly since with that many people involved it shouldn’t have been able to remain a secret before the world went to Hell.
There are some very good metaphors and similes that struck me as fresh and original. I wish there’d been more of that quality of writing in this installment.
Third book of the series. Following right along in the series. Michael is still on the mission of finding his daughter. Other survivors join up with him and it is a constant battle to stay ahead of the zombies. These zombies are capable of thinking and working out ways to get to humans. They are evolving...
This is part of a sentence that is so grossly awful and descriptive, I just have to share right now! "The creatures moved like freshly squeezed acne spurting up and into the loft...."
Keep on reading, please!! I found no other sentences like this through our the rest of this third book.
We learn in this book that one of the people who created this zombie business changed part of the code to his own advantage and that change is beginning to rear it's ugly head.
Now, on to book 4. I hope to finish the 5th and 6th books in this series in the week to come.
This is the 3rd book in the series and the second I have read. This book picks up where the other one left off. Some survivors are going to look for Michael's daughter. The character in the second book meets them so really the second book is not necessary to the series. We learn the bigwigs have a huge underground bunker (of course) just waiting for Wildfire to end. They are realizing Victor screwed it up for them so no end is in sight.(smacked of Resident evil )Why I loved it so much!!!A insane man has been transformed into a sort of hybrid..Does the child ever get found? Is she alive? If U like Zombie thrillers this Is one series U must read!!!now on to the next one...
This is book 3 of the 4 part series. Again, we are treated to new characters worthy of the primary characters we met in book 1. This book is significant in that we meet the true Jake. This is when the book steps up the horror aspect significantly. The story continues to intrigue me, a non-horror genre reader. Really looking forward to book 4.
I recommend this series for the shear quality of the story and writing. Save some money and buy the 4 part "boxed" ebook set.
I got this book as a gift from the Author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is the 3rd book in the series and it getting better and better, it had me at the edge of my seat, I read way past my bedtime. I would recommend to read the first 2 books before getting started on this one though. I love the characters and I feel like I am going on this journey with them, the storyline is great and different form the normal Zombie genre. I can't wait to see what will happen next.
This series has eaten up my weekend and I still have several books to go. Excellent at throwing in twists with enough clues to keep all the changing characters straight. My only complaint is that I wish the author knew the correct uses of "comprise" ... Pulls me out of the story every time she uses it incorrectly. Well, now I'm off down the rabbit hole to Mutation. I'm grateful that the later releases are a little longer. See ya.
Another great part to the series. My only small complaint is not getting to know the characters as much as they deserve. Maybe because the chapters are too short? These are wonderful people to get to live through and I don't feel like they've been given the right amount of personal attention. Other than that one little suggestion, Wildfire is a fantastic series!
Third in the series, Psychosis has all your favorite main characters with their well developed with backgrounds established in books 1 & 2. New problems, evolution in the original crisis, and an expanding character field to play with, all come together to make this a series to stick with!!
Hello, this story is getting better with every book. Mr. Griffiths is a great story teller. Suped up FREAKS, secret bad guys and some good people just trying to make it, what's not to like. Damn fine stuff. Thanks.
As I continue to read this series, K.R. Griffiths writing, story line, and characters get more defined. He is letting you get to know the people in the books, which to me gets you more involved in story. I first thought with book one that it was just an ok book about zombies, but now it's getting into a twisted government experiment that gets worse by a psycho. They group is trying to survive i
