Dark Ranger is the first book in the Many Kingdoms trilogy, a familiar fairytale world of monsters and wizards, evil and magic. Garrett is a Ranger of the Light, a sworn guardian of the natural world and its inhabitants. His duty is to root out evil and destroy it before it can destroy the land he cherishes, but he finds it difficult to identify that evil in himself. His heart is broken by the brutal murder of his beloved, and his thirst for revenge leaves him vulnerable to the manipulation of the blood-wizard, Scythe. Fellow rangers Wren and Nolan are determined to reclaim their friend's soul and bring him back to the Light. They are aided by a wandering dwarf and a wild fairy who longs for humanity. But as the companions discover, even magic can't save someone who doesn't want to be saved.
I grew up in Waukegan, Illinois and upstate New York. My earliest memories are of re-imagining favorite cartoons on paper and inventing my own. I have a husband, three kids, and a ridiculous number of pets. I read adventure fantasy, horror, science-fiction, or anything else that takes me away from it all. I hope that my stories can do for others what they have done for me.
My father reads books on my kindle account. He wants to share his opinions without have the pesky task of actually typing this himself. Imagine someone who looks like Santa Claus speaking to you. So I present his review:
Nice easy read. Typical Lord of the rings fantasy. Enjoyed it, liked the characters, pretty much a YA type read. A 3-4 star rating.
This book was not for me. I just had a very hard time getting interested in and staying invested in the story. I finished it though, for my book challenge, but will not be picking up any more of the series.
If this story sounds like something that would interest you, give it a try, you might enjoy it, it does sound like a neat concept.
Dark ranger, light ranger, fairies, magic. These and more. Great story with enough surprises ttc keep you guessing and characters as varied as the surroundings. Really fed my imagination.
I could not actually finish this book. It was a bit weird for me. It started off interesting enough, but I figured it out pretty quickly....so I gave up.
