Brilliant book and proof people do not change and nor do there desires and fears regardless of time period. Guy who wrote this was a genius and so glad he did. The idea of reading history books written 200+ years ago is amazing. It gives such great angles on things and it in a way is so fresh and preserved in the book. I loved when he talked about his conversations with people in the market place, aged in their 80s and 90s, so born in the mid 1600s. To me this book is quite literally a paper time machine for a City few people really know the history of and few people probably have a care for.
