A free sampler containing the outrageous first chapters from Frankie’s three books My Shit Life So Far, Work! Consume! Die! and Scotland’s Jesus. Perfect for when you want to feel deeply offended.
MY SHIT LIFE SO 'I don't think anyone can have written an autobiography without at some point thinking "Why would anyone want to know this shit?" I've always read them thinking "I don't want to know where Steve Tyler grew up, just tell me how many groupies he f**ked!"'
So begins Frankie's outrageous, laugh-out loud, cynical rant on life as he knows it.
WORK! CONSUME DIE!: Stand-up comedy's favourite pessimist, Frankie Boyle, offers his laugh-out-loud, cynical rant on life as he knows it. He describes your reality as viewed through a bloodshot eye pressed against a shit-smeared telescope, focused on hell.
SCOTLAND’S Reading Scotland's Jesus should be like being called into the living room by your child shouting that they see a little red dot on the head of a TV newscaster, then riding the white hot bullet through the propaganda circuitry of his or her exploding brain.
Francis Martin Patrick "Frankie" Boyle is a Scottish comedian and writer, well known for his pessimistic, often controversial sense of humour. He was a permanent panellist on Mock the Week for seven series and has made guest appearances on several popular panel shows including Have I Got News for You, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Would I Lie to You?, You Have Been Watching, Never Mind the Buzzcocks (as guest host and team captain when Phill Jupitus was unavailable for recording), and Argumental, as well as writing for Jimmy Carr's Distraction and Sean Lock's TV Heaven, Telly Hell.
Frankie Boyle is a true anarchist - tackling subjects that no one dares to speak of in such a way that it makes you laugh hysterically! Very intelligently written .
Probably one of the most polarizing comedians around today, so it is understandable that anyone with snowflake tendencies will like-as-not not like even these Contaminated Samples, but Frankie Boyle hits my eclectic funny bone time and again with his fearless , dark and sometimes brutal humour. Enjoyed these a lot, although they do frequently relate to British political references and other global current affairs which both date, and may also make some of the jokes less accessible to certain audiences, particularly as time passes.
There's no mistaking who wrote it. It comes with Mr Boyle's trademark turn of phrase and plenty of laugh out loud moments. I especially enjoyed the last part, which had a lot more heart than I was expecting.
Sharp wit. Offensive and yet a frighteningly accurate perspective of the world and the people in it. Laugh out loud humour. I can't tell you how much I loved his writing. Hilarious, in a cynical, vicious way that razor sharp.
This was a compilation of the starting points of his actual books. I was hoping for so much more from his writing. Sadly I was disappointed and will not be seeking out the complete books.
