Boring, but completely gorgeous. That was my first impression of him. My next two thoughts were ‘pompous ass’ and ‘cocky jerk.’ And, I had the glorious pleasure of sharing a table with him for the entire night. He didn't speak, didn't grunt….he just nodded and stared. If I weren't taking my bosses place at this dinner, I’d have found another place to sit and escape Rylan Daniels.

‘Absolutely beautiful’ was what I thought when I found her at my table at the Ad Execs quarterly dinner. She wore a black strapless dress and exuded confidence from every part of her. I nodded to her, but didn't speak. I really didn't have much to say anyway.
I couldn't quit staring and had to excuse myself at one point to stand across the room and watch her. It was a strange, unwelcome feeling I was having about this stunning woman.

It had been five years….five years since Kristen…..and I still couldn't move on. That kind of hurt you just don’t get over so easily and I wasn't even sure that I wanted to get over it. But, here I was, completely intrigued and unable to stop thinking about Jen Bailey.

Another freebie bites the dust.

It started off good. I mean, I liked the unrequited element that's just suggested in the blurb, which is why I one-clicked in the first place. But then Jen happened. Jen is the heroine and she's a runner.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Date not going well?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Jen getting upset because she thought she saw and heard something she doesn't like?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

No matter what the situation was, Jen just solves her problem by running.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

It got old after a while. And you know when the heroine does this, you know you're in for a lot of unnecessary angst that adds nothing to the story except to annoy the shit out of you.

Unfortunately, that's not even the biggest problem of this book for me. The author's writing style totally didn't work for me. Both Jen and Raylan's POV sound awfully the same, I had to constantly check the beginning of the chapter to know whose POV it was I'm reading. Not only that, this book was just riddled with errors, continuity problems, grammar and spelling mistakes (grown instead of groan), etc. A thorough run-through with a decent proofreader wouldn't hurt, you know.

Just saying.

Grown woman who constantly runs away....like ditching friends in restaurants because she's "too upset". Decides guy # 1 is an ass, but she at least twice after deciding that agrees to meet him but blows him off, then to ask him to come rescue her in another country.
gets with guy # 2 almost immediately after # 1, to run away from him many times because she's "upset"
how this girl even still has friends let alone 2 men wanting her is too impossible to even swallow.
ends up falling in love with #2 to find out she's a carbon copy of his dead wife....but somehow this is ok with her.

for whatever reason this was on my kindle and I decided "might as well read it" - waste of my time.

This was a quite enjoyable read. Hutton’s solid storyline took many twists and turns that I would never have imagined. She developed her world in a natural yet visual manner, allowing the reader to know what was going on and where it was. By merging different worlds together she gives you a great deal to think about. Hutton also takes her audience on an emotional rollercoaster. The variety of different aspects of life that the author touches on is quite breathtaking. That said, although talking some difficult subjects throughout, Hutton keeps her writing light, making this a quick, breezy read.

The main characters in this novel were very well developed. I appreciated how the author showed how strong yet vulnerable her characters were. The supporting cast, although small, filled out the story perfectly. My only question about the characters is this: what in the world is up with Jack? He flips sides so many times throughout that you can’t quite figure out what he’s going to say or do next or what his end game is.

Please note that I received this novel free of charge from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this story. The characters really pull you in and have you rooting for them. I would have given this book all 5 stars, but I would have liked to get more insight on Jen and how her past shaped her. I also would have also liked more character details (looks & style of each character) and more description on scenery details. I found myself filling in the gaps and painting my own picture on what the characters and their environments looked like. With that being said this was a heartwarming love story that will make you laugh, cry, and just plain love.

This was the second time I have read and enjoyed this book very much. I gave this a 5 star cause it is just that. A review that I read said that no background was given and I agree I wish the book had more depth. The sex was steamy and the connection was wild between the two electrifying. It's a good read but note that if your looking for like a previous review said background of the two then by pass this book but all in all I really liked this book

Ok, here we go! I’m going to try and put all the feelings I have for this book into words, its never easy. Especially with this one! Stunningly Beautiful would have to sum it up, if that were my only choice but lucky for us I get to add so much more!

We got to do a tour on this book a little over a week ago, and even though we wish we could read every book that crosses our path we can’t! We try really hard but with everything in both of our lives its just not possible. All that being said I’m so glad I didn’t miss this one.

So lets get to what you all want to know about. Loving her as I said was a beautiful story!

"What you see, isn’t always what you get"

At first glace Jen seems like a confident, successful woman. I have to say that it isn’t until her first date with Jack that you realize Jen has her own set of issues! And is kinda strange in her own right, and Jack well he's just a type all his own. Then you meet Rylan, the arrogant SOB at first glance he is impassive & pompous. It isn’t until you get to know him that you realize exactly why he behaves the way that he does. Tormented by old ghosts he doesn’t think he can move forward, even though everything inside him is screaming for him to do it.

"You awakened my soul the moment you looked at me with your beautiful eyes"

Finally realizing he can do this they take a step and begin to learn to love and live! Its only then that Rylan is remind of the things that haunt him when they are brought to the surface. And even though he wasn’t trying to hide things that’s the way it appears. Can secrets really tear people apart when they aren’t meant to? Can Rylan learn how to live with his past and make a future for himself with Jen. And can Jen learn that sometimes moving forward doesn’t always look like you think it should?

There are 3 things I can tell you about this book.

You Will Laugh!
You Will Cry!
You Will LOVE It!

Hold on for an emotional rollercoaster ride! This wonderful read will leave you breathless and smiling. I love how perfectly everything came together after a difficult journey. The epilogue was phenomenal and exactly what I hoped for. Jen and Rylan are magnificent and clearly meant to find one another.

She needed to understand me and what all my hang ups were, but I wasn’t sure how to handle it. She was so self-assured and confident and I was a mess of emotion, loaded with an enormous amount of baggage.

Rylan Daniels is the best type of damaged and flawed hero. He is full of pain and grief over a past loss. Rylan hasn’t allowed happiness to seep into his life since that tragic day five years ago. Jen Bailey isn’t sure what to think of the dark and moody stranger sitting across the dinner table but he sure is gorgeous. It was fantastic to read from both points of view since their story begins with mixed feelings. This definitely made the story interesting and intriguing for me.

“You have no idea what you’ve awakened in me, Jen. I’m not sure I can really explain it right now, but you have brought me back to life and I feel like I can’t get enough of you.”

Jen and Rylan slowly give in to their incredible attraction but it isn’t easy. The past plagues their present and causes plenty of problems. Jen knows what she wants and Rylan is ready to try again. Their inner strength made me so happy. After years of dealing alone, it can be difficult to allow others to see your scars. Their journey is a bumpy road that might come to a dead end. How much are they willing to fight for their happy ending?

The quality of writing was great, the storyline was interesting, and the characters were dynamic. I appreciated the importance of the secondary characters and their role in the leads’ lives. I am thrilled CM Hutton pointed me toward her novel and I thoroughly enjoyed this romantic tale. I highly recommend you grab Rylan and Jen’s novel today!

This was a very cute 3.5 star read for me.

Highlights of this book all revolved around Rylan - this attractive alpha male who comes to life upon meeting Jen, is a genuine likeable guy with a sensitive side whose past commitment to his late wife has essentially caused him to run through the motions the last 5 years.

What was missing? Author was a bit brief on the details - like descriptions (what do Jen and Rylan look like? Clothing, coloring, etc.), what was Jen's background that made her distrust relationships? What was Kristen "diagnosed"? How long until she passed? They meet at a work event but never is the nature of their professions discussed. Reasonable questions that jarred the reader a bit and created gaps in between the story developments.

Also bit puzzled about the character Jack plays, like a 180 takes place later in the novel, makes me question Jen's judgment throughout the novel cause just not logical at times.

But a cute relationship and steamy sex, so redeeming qualities and a pretty likeable plot, just nothing too surprising and missing a few bits to increase its potential in my opinion.

Rylan! If there is a man I can love more than Rylan then it is a lie because, OMG this man is beautiful! I fell in love with him from the beginning and cried with him through all of the sadness and heartache in his life and I rooted for him and Jennifer. I knew they had to be together and wouldn't take no for an answer. Rylan's past was horrible and I broke down crying a few times. But the ending was absolutely amazing and I know that he is happy with Jennifer. I loved this book and although I didn't support all of what Jennifer did I learned to look past it. Some of her choices were horrible and I knew she was giving Rylan a hard time but some part of me understood. We never really got to know her past and I would have like more of her past.

I enjoyed this book. Rylan was a difficult man to figure out, but once you did my heart just broke for him. I really did not learn much about Jens past and I really wish I would have learned more because I think that not knowing took a little bit away from the book. I did however LOVE the surprise of the epilogue. Just a quick wonderful read.

I totally ugly cried while reading this book. I don't usually admit to that. Lol. Ry and Jenn's story was so moving and beautiful. Reconnecting with someone after a heartbreaking loss can be very difficult. CM Hutton told their story beautifully. Thank you so much for this amazing story!!!

Tis book had some promise at the beginning. I was confused about the romance with Jack and how far it went, but I could live with that. When this book became a one-star for me was when the heroine ran away because of the slightest negative emotion. Because of the unhealthy way she dealt with her feelings and the borderline pubescent way of seeing the world around her. A man stops himself in going too far and tries to be a gentleman, and the heroine gets offended and conclude he’s a jerk? I have discovered zero healthy grownups in this book.

At first I was really drawn into this one. In the first chapter we get Jen's POV. She describes her first impression of Rylan:

I noticed him walking toward my table with his impassive face and stiff body language. I was hoping he would pass on by because as good looking as he was, he looked like a total ass and I didn’t want to be stuck with a pompous jerk for the evening. But, as luck would have it, he sat down directly across from me with barely a nod of acknowledgement. Wow, how did this guy get a job in marketing? What does he sell….sticks to shove up assholes?

In the second chapter Rylan describes how he saw Jen:
She was incredibly beautiful. /.../ When I found her sitting at the same table and she looked straight at me, I froze not knowing what to say. /.../ I sat quietly most of the night, as usual. I rarely saw the need in mindless, meaningless conversation anymore. It served no purpose to me, even though I did enjoy listening to it. It occupied my mind and kept me focused on the present…on life.

... and I was hooked.

Unfortunately, I didn't find the rest of the book as captivating as the first two chapters.

First of all, we get some sort of version insta-love with these two and I do NOT like insta-love. Fortunately, it wasn't the kind where the two see each other and fall head over heels in love with each other in seconds, but nevertheless.

Secondly, the plot moved kind of fast and slow at the same time. How is that possible? Their relationship moved like this:

description

in a matter of days. OK, OK, it took them two friggin' weeks.

Although their relationship (physically) moved superfast despite the facts that:
-
-
- Jen and Rylan really didn't speak with each other about stuff

I felt that practically nothing changed. All that remained was the physical attraction and lust.

Thirdly, I felt that the first two chapters were the strongest in the book. If the author had continued in the same way, I probably would've given it a higher rating. But bear in mind, that 2.5 stars actually is not a bad rating.

**SHANYN’S REVIEW**

“You make me want to feel again. I know that may not make much sense to you, but you make me want to be alive.”

Jen is a sweet and beautiful woman, who has a hard time trusting. She wants to find love, but doesn’t take rejection well, so she’s had a hard time finding it. Rylan is a quiet and handsome man, who has a past that he can’t get over.

Jen and Rylan had me rooting for them through the whole book. They meet at a business dinner, but after one dance, they both move on. They can’t seem to stop thinking about each other though. When Rylan tries to help Jen, that is when their story begins.

“There was something about Jen Bailey that had my attention. It was unnerving and not welcomed.”

Rylan and Jen both have emotional pasts. Neither can come to tell each other about it, which causes a lot of miscommunication between them. I found myself yelling at my book numerous times….”JUST SAY WHAT YOU FEEL!!!”, but I couldn’t put the book down! Their story had me pulled in, and I didn’t want to stop reading. Just when I thought they had finally figured it out, and gotten it together, I would be thrown again. My heart hurt for both Jen and Rylan numerous times, they both have hard times in their past, but I kept hoping they would find their way back to each other.

“It was a long time ago, but the wounds feel pretty fresh when I deal with anything that makes me feel insecure or too vulnerable.”

When they both finally tell the truth, and figure out their own feelings, will they be able to move on from the past? And will it be together? I couldn’t stop asking myself this question multiple times through the book.

“She didn’t deserve the burden of my past, but God help me, I couldn’t stop thinking about her….wanting her.”

This book had me on a roller coaster of emotions…..smiling for how sweet they could be together, yelling at my kindle for their damn stubbornness, and then crying for both Rylan and Jen. I absolutely loved reading their story.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Rylan and Jen seem like a perfect match, they work in the same field, they are young and gorgeous, and they are attracted to each other, eventually. Jen’s first impression of him is that he’s boring, but she figures out he’s far from it soon enough. They also both happen to have a few issues when it comes to relationships, plus friends or family that are keen on seeing them happy again.

I just loved Rylan. He might have had his issues, but the boy was there to listen to great advice when give to him and he did all he could to make Jen feel wanted. Yes, he did not blurt out all his secrets the moment they got closer to each other, true. He might have done some dumb things, as some men do when they decide women need their space, but all in all, he saw her, he wanted her, and he went for it.

Jen… well, Jen has her scars, I get it. Abandonment issues, trust issues, you name it. But she is also the picture of what’s wrong with women. The standard “nothing’s wrong” reply, although the poor guy keeps asking, and the pressure. You’ve spend about two days with him, you want him to spill all his secrets? Also, you haven’t shared yours yet. So, how is this fair? Did I hate how she acted? Yes. Am I guilty of the same trespassing? Maybe :)

Jen comes off as a bit childish. Well, when it comes to relationships, cause when it comes to work, she’s brilliant, just like Rylan. Also, she has a tendency not to learn her lessons. Apart from all that, Jen and Ry are great together, when they don’t let BS interfere.

I might have had my issues with Jen, but that does not mean this was not a fun read! It has his funny touches, its emotional moments, its steamy exploits, and those times when you want to throw your Kindle at the characters. I think all that makes for a great mix. I personally am not completely engaged if I don’t properly relate to the female MC, but Ry more than made up for it.

This is a short fast paced love story filled with love, loss, pain, true friends and more that will keep you intrigued until the very end.

Jen has had a rough time with men. She's trying to stay away from them; however while having to attend a function for her boss, Michael she meets the mysterious/sexy Rylan Daniels.
She thinks immediately, "Wow, how did this guy get a job in marketing? What does he sell... sticks to shove up assholes?" ( I was laughing out loud at that part) bahaha
However, there's something about him that draws her to him.

Rylan is blown away the moment he sees Jen at the function. He doesn't know what to say. He's not used to this- not in 5 years. He's confused, wants her and wants to leave her alone.

I loved all the characters in this book. I loved Jen's ability to make Jack and Rylan laugh and her funny sense of humor. But I did hate that she always, always ran. She's lucky to have 2 guys in her life who care about her. I also enjoyed seeing her spunky-kinky side as well. It was silly to watch!

Rylan I loved his kindness to Jen. He really cared about her and never wanted to hurt her. I did get upset with him a few times, but still fell in love with him and felt sad and sorry for him as well. He truly is a devoted and loyal man, any woman would be delighted to have him in her life.

Jack I liked, but was upset with him as well. He was an interesting character and the redeems himself in my eyes. He was a nice guy, despite his craziness but turned out to be a nice person and glad Jen meets him.

The true devotion, love, sexiness, pain and sadness captured my heart. I was saddened, extremely happy, sad, angry and then happy again! And that ending... WOW! I loved, loved, loved it!! Just a beautiful ending to this fabulous story!

Will definitely be reading more from this author in the future!

5 stars from me!
