Waiting for Mercy

Rate this book
What do you do when you’ve been to hell and back, literally? For Mercy, it meant the beginning of the end for everything. Love, Happiness, Life. When the people important to her are thrown into danger and she is forced to choose who to save, what will Mercy do? When the demon within her has its own agenda, going to new lengths to fulfill it, how will she cope? And when a new nemesis arrives, with a sole focus to take what belongs to her, how will she survive? Some situations make you stronger, some make you weak. She used to run from confrontation but the need to uncover secrets will harden her resolve to make new choices. In the end, someone else will suffer the consequences. Who will be burned by her very existence? And what will become of everything she holds dear? Mercy’s life wasn’t easy before and things aren’t getting easier now.

I received a free book in exchange for an unbiased, honest review. My thoughts are my own.

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways? Flynn-1000, Luke-1000, Sebastian-1000... and Paul to a lesser extent.

Just like the first one, I LOVED IT! 5♥'s, Nay- I'm going to other reviews to steal hearts and give 6♥'s... 7♥'s even if I get a few minutes alone with Flynn, or Luke, or Sebastian. I'm not picky, and all I'll need is a few minutes.

I am still loving the use of the SAT words that precede each chapter and the almost "Where's Waldo" task of looking for the word used in the chapter. I scoff at other books and their puny love triangle... bring on the love pentagram Baby! Well... I'd actually be happy with a square (I know many like Paul, but he's just kind of 'meh' to me.)

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book (yes, shouty caps and all!)

"No one should be that good looking."

And oh my goodness... the scene in the cafeteria. Oh, my.... my, my, my. I didn't know if I wanted to laugh, or swoon, or glare, or beg to BE Mercy even through her uncomfortable moments! It was witty, engaging, entertaining, surprising, frustrating... for a succubus story, it's way tamer than you'd expect but still charmingly drool-worthy to keep an adult panting for more. And the revelations in this one, oh I think I wanted to (in equal amounts) verbally slap and kiss all my favorite guys in this book. Maybe a good physical slap, too... haven't decided if it lands on the butt or the face.

"You're like a dictionary, you add meaning to me life."

"If beauty were time, you'd be eternity."

"For a moment I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Now I see that I am very much alive, and heaven has been brought to me."

I just cannot say enough how much I love this series. I sucked down that book like it was a cold sweet iced tea on a hot July day. Shannon, write faster! I NEED more Mercy! I simply MUST have more! Please? I'm trying to wait, but don't make me beg... again.

Waiting for Mercy is the second book in the Cambion series. Mercy is a half demon succubus, with a succubus mother and a human father. This makes her a cambion. Her mother recently married David, an incubus and now they live in his house with him and his son Flynn. Flynn is HOT. Mercy's mother, David and Flynn have to feed from the lust of humans to survive, but for some reason, Mercy doesn't have to, although she can still drain a human's life force with her kiss. She's not sure why she's different, her mother keeps a lot from her about what she is and Mercy is not the type to push for it.

Mercy is a really likeable protag. She is surrounded by amazingly hot guys who all seem to be interested in her. Luke is her nephilim on/off boyfriend who is completely in love with her and she's in love with him. Flynn, seems attracted to Mercy but she thinks its just because he can't have her. He can have any girl at school he wants, and does, to keep himself fed. Sebastian is a pure demon who Mercy met in the first book, Beg for Mercy. He is now living with them and Mercy is not sure exactly why. He also seems to be attracted to Mercy. And Paul, Mercy's first human boyfriend, whom she nearly killed with her kiss because she didn't know what she was. All of these guys are awesome. Its kind of like a love pentagon, and I find myself rooting for whichever guy she's with at the time. I just can't decide who I like best.

Shannon has created a bunch of awesome characters and together they all make for a really entertaining read. There is a lot going on in this book and I loved all the action, suspense and interaction between all the characters. I really like Shannon's writing style and this books flows along so well. I couldn't bear to put it out of my hands. It's great to start to enjoy a book from the first page on. The world that Shannon has created seems to be one where anything exists. In this we have the existence of demons, vampires, werewolves/shapeshifters, elves and fae.

The ending of this was awesome....and cruel. We end on a major cliffhanger. I finished this book over 24 hours ago and I still can't stop thinking about it. This is shaping up to be an absolutely amazing series. I know I will be reading both of these books again soon as its a while since I read Beg for Mercy and I want to go back and read them both again, together. I cannot wait until the next book comes out. These books are extremely cheap on Amazon and I just urge you all to take a chance. Don't miss out on a great series.

Oh my gosh, I am way excited for this book to be out!!!

Update: April 2012
Flynn...my goodness I seriously love him to pieces. But that ending has me all messed up! It can't end like that, it just can't. I am hoping the next book gets here a-sap because I have to know what happens.

This is by far one of my favorite book series. By far! I hate love triangles, so good thing this is not a 3 man love triangle but a 5 man love triangle ha ha. Must be nice to have that many boys after you. Although I would worry about breaking hearts...

Anywho, this book is funny, sexy, and down right action packed. If you are looking for a fun book to read go pick up the first book if you haven't already and then read Waiting for Mercy. You will not regret, and if you do, too bad!

This was me hanging on for dear life after finishing this book! Oh Shannon, how you tease us with this cliffhanger!!! I know that I have no choice but to wait for the next book, but, I am really struggling here! So, can you please help a lady from a ledge??

If you are not familiar with this series, you can check out my review of Beg For Mercy".

Mercy- I love Mercy. I think she is a well-developed character and even though she has so many swoony boys after her, I can't help but be in awe at the way she handles herself. She really tries to keep her succubus under control, even though, sometimes McKayla just comes right on out without prior notice.

Sebastian- I was NOT a big fan of Sebastian in the last book. He just kept "popping" up all over the place and I did not trust him at all! In this book, I thought he seemed pretty sweet. Not, that I want him to be with Mercy. I think there is so much more to Sebastian than we have seen so far and I hope all is revealed in the next book!

Luke- Luke is a great guy, but, I still do not feel he is right for Mercy. He makes a change in his personality around the end of the book and he seems to become more bad a$$. It made my eyebrows shoot up and take a little more notice to him. Something is cooking with him and I am not sure what yet, but, I do like the attitude change!

Flynn- This brings me to last, but definitely not least, Flynn. Oh Flynn, if I were Mercy, I would have jumped your bones ages ago!!! Flynn has got to be my favorite out of all the boys and I am really crossing my fingers that Mercy & Flynn will be together at the end! There is so much chemistry between the two and I do think that Flynn really loves her. As for right now, I know everything will be all right and am pretending that the ending of this book never happened!  Read the book and you will find out exactly what I am talking about!

I really loved this book and cannot wait for the next one. I encourage all of you to check out this series. Where else can you find a succubus, an incubus, an angel and some demons all wrapped up and trying to live life peacefully? I can guarantee that you will not be disappointed!

Holy Freakin' WOW!!! Pure awesomeness from Shannon Dermott!! I loved book one in this series but the author has really outdone herself with book two!!

Shannon Dermott does the whole multiple love interest thing so well. I never at any stage get tired of Mercy and all her guys!! Usually when I read a story that has more than one love interest, I'm decided straight up who I would choose. But there is something so amazingly appealing about all of these male characters that I just don't want any of them to end up hurt or to have their hearts broken!! I think I would still have Mercy be with Luke, but boy, if Flynn isn't making me question that!! And then there is Sebastian and Paul. And all four of them are so different!!

So, let's talk about these characters a little bit....
MERCY: Let me just say how damn lucky Mercy is!! The amount of incredibly hot and gorgeous guys she has after her is enough to make my head spin, but damn if I'm not jealous!! I really felt that Mercy came into her own in this book. She really matured and grew. And I really looked forward to her use of each SAT word throughout the book.
PAUL: I don't have the same intense affections for him as I do the other characters, but as Mercy's friend, I like him!
SEBASTIAN: He's been there to save and rescue Mercy many times. He's given advice and I really think that his feelings for Mercy are genuine. And I love that accent.
FLYNN: Hot and delicious!! The incredibly sexed up Flynn has a soft, sweet and caring inner core all wrapped up in this sexy outer layer!! When him and Mercy are together that's exactly want I want!!
LUKE: And when Mercy is with Luke, that is exactly what I want!! And he is the one that Mercy loves. I feel so sorry for him sometimes. It can't be easy dating Mercy. Luke is sweet and loyal and towards the end of the book we see a bit of a difference in him that I absolutely loved!!

Waiting For mercy is action packed with a whole range of supernatural beings. We have Angels, Demon's, half demon's, shifters, Fae, Succubus, Incubus and even a vampire... You name it, this book has it going on!! There is always something happening to keep you completely engrossed in the story. The authors writing style is wonderfully easy to read and incredibly free flowing and smooth.

And what about that cliffhanger of an ending!!! Far out!! How am I possibly going to wait for book three? I am the most impatient person ever!! A huge thank you to Shannon Dermott for writing one of my favourite series. Go read it and make it one of yours!!

OMG, IT'S A CLIFFHANGER ENDING. Dammit :(.

While it's still good, like the first book, I feel like there were a TON of grammatical and spelling errors. A ton of it. Lots and lots. I wasn't sure what to expect with this book (in terms of plot) and I'm still confused as ever. I really want to know what she is, and I still have NO clue of the secret that her mom holds.

There are so many questions that you'll be asking and you will most definitely be trying to figure out which guy she should end up with.

As for me, I'll stick to my original guy - Flynn. FLYNN PLEASE! Even if she loves Luke, I am still hoping for a miraculous happily ever after with her and Flynn.

I knew if I read Waiting for Mercy I would hate myself. I read the first in the Cambion Series about 6 months ago. This book blew my mind.

I am a big vampire Paranormal girl. Were's are ok, however I do not read demon books. Why I picked Beg for Mercy to read I have no idea but I am glad I did. I have never been so confused about which hero a girl should choose. Yeah sure there are times the heroine can go either way and you won't be too disappointed. With Mercy I can say with the first book yes Luke is the perfect choice. Flynn is way too uhmmm slutty. Yes he is an incubus but a girl would be crazy to be with him right? Paul well he is loyal but not loyal enough. When I think of him I think of a child that threw away a toy but seeing someone else have it he wants it back. Now. Sebastian is just OMG. Sorry no words can describe him better. Even with all that it was Luke that was perfect in every way.

Now after all this time to read book 2 Waiting for Mercy I tried to say no. There are so many books on my TBR list I should wait. I knew if I read it I would have to put up with a long wait for the next book. I did manage to wait 2 weeks after buying it to read. So yes even with Mother's Day I could not put it down. Not even 24 hours to finish. I am out of breath, feel like I ran 20 miles, and wanting to sleep until next book comes out to avoid the wait. There were so many twists and turns I was on the edge the whole book. I was happy, sad, angry, curious, disappointed, disgusted, awed, worried, shocked, need I say more. I am so in love with all the characters. Now who should Mercy be with? Okay, so I still like Luke but damn Flynn sure is a very close second. Knowing he would be best for her does not take away from Luke. I am so conflicted. I am thinking why not both? Oops sorry not a real choice. I need the next book. Knowing that Flynn is close to dying and Mercy is giving herself to save him is killing me.
If you want a book that makes you feel more emotions then you knew you could even feel in a space of a minute this is the series to do it. All I can say now is please Shannon hurry with the next book.

Waiting for Mercy was EXCEPTIONAL!!

I’d been waiting for this book for months and it was totally worth the wait! Mercy is such an endearing heroine you can’t help but root for her the whole way through. Luke. . . I am SOOOO very much in love with Luke, he’s patient, sweet, gorgeous and oh by the way – an angel. Flynn is Mercy’s step-brother, Luke’s best friend, and has a thing for Mercy that keeps getting in the way – he’s part Demon. Then there’s Sebastian – he seems to have a soft spot for Mercy and he – wait for it – is a full blown demon. The cast of potential love interests wouldn’t be complete without a good friend that’s been all googly-eyed for Mercy since Jr. High – Paul. Of all the guys, Paul was the one I wanted to reach through my Kindle and choke.

The plot is well developed, the writing is exceptional and the story is heartwarming. Truly an exceptional story. I cannot wait for Shannon’s third installment to this series!!!! My only complaint is, SHANNON – YOU NEED TO WRITE FASTER!!!

It's not often an author can get a love square so right (I'm discounting Paul as I don't see him as an option for mercy) but Shannon Dermott has this down to a tee. Normally I'm rolling my eyes and getting frustrated with love shapes but this one just works and I would not be unhappy whoever mercy chooses. Okay, I would rather she pick Flynn but Luke is a very close second and Seb would do as well.

I had high expectations after finishing Beg for Mercy and Waiting for Mercy didn't disappoint, it was fast paced, never boring and I liked all the characters except maybe Paul but that's more because I have had enough of the 'best friend wanting more' that seems to be all over YA recently. I liked that we got to see more of Sebastian in this one, he opened up and he really is an interesting character.

The Ending!! Who would have guessed? I certainly didn't, I normally hate cliff hangers but again, this one works.

I think I have found another author to add to my fave list, I cannot wait for book 3, will have to content myself with the novella No Mercy until then.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, Beg for Mercy, so I couldn't wait to read this one. Not typically a fan of love triangles, the first book caught me by surprise at how torn I was not just between 2 guys, but 4 of them!! Right?!! Well, it got even harder in this one and I felt like a yo-yo. I thought I had decided, but then BAM!! Something happens and I am so confused again. I can only imagine how much more difficult it is for Mercy herself when her succubus is determined to come out and take over control. Talk about some awkward moments when that happens. Okay so moving on from all the craziness of the boy situation, there is a lot that happens in this book. We find out a lot of things and also get thrown some more questions. It had me hooked and I read this rather quickly!!

Mercy has already been through a lot and she is about to go through a whole lot more. I don't know how she manages to keep any sort of normalcy to her life, but somehow she does... for the most part. She seems to be getting better at controlling her succubus, but sometimes it bests her. She is also all sorts of confused about the boy situation. She really loves Luke, (and so do I!!) but there's also feelings there for Paul, Sebastian, and Flynn. Yeah, I know, that's a lot to take in. I don't really think that she had a while lot of character growth in this book, but I do really like Mercy. I also really feel bad for her. I just wish she would smarten up a bit and stop trying to keep things hidden to spare peoples feelings. If she would just tell people the truth right away it would save a whole lot of drama.

Okay, so this is where I will get into the romance thing. I think that she and Luke should be together, but there are also reasons why it's a bad idea. I can't go into it much because I don't want to spoil anything from the first book. Then there is Flynn, who should be a good match for her and everyone else seems to think so too. I like him, I really do, but I don't think they should be together. Now there's Sebastian. I don't even know what to say about him. I keep thinking he's bad news, then getting proven wrong only to go back to not knowing again. I am still really confused about him even when his intentions are good. The only one I don't want her with is Paul. I think he is an amazing best friend, and he should stay just that.

Have I confused you enough? It's not really that confusing if you've read the book, but this is a hard review to write. So secrets are starting to be uncovered, and that just makes things a bit harder. Mercy is angry that her mother won't tell her everything about what is going on with her. She feels so helpless against her inner demon, and it seems that her succubus is getting harder to contain. It has a natural urge to come out around certain individuals, which just makes her confusing love life much more complicated. Besides having 4 boys lusting after her, her best friends have their own situations going on that Mercy needs to help with. Then with all the boys acting dumb and going off to need saving, this makes for one heck of a ride!!

I thought this was a great follow up to Beg for Mercy and I like where the story went. I am happy with the new information that was given and curious about the lingering questions we are left with at the end. The whole love circle thingy continues, and even not being a fan of love triangles, I am really enjoying this one. Yes, it's frustrating at times, but I totally get it!! I really hope that in the next book Mercy gets the answers she is looking for and can keep her succubus in check!! The way this book ended has me bouncing in my seat wanting the next one. I need to know what happens next!!

Noooo! Shannon Dermott, you cannot do this to me!! On the inside I am crying my eyes out because this book ends, in typical Dermott fashion, with a cliffhanger. And a very tortuous one at that.

For me, Book 2 is where this series really picked up. The first book I had my doubts about - and no it wasn't just the frustratingly bad editing (which I'm afraid continued, though to a lesser extent) in this book. This book definitely explored the paranormal side of things a lot more - Mercy stops being such a 'docile little human', and starts fighting for her life. Literally.

Mercy is sick of being in the dark about everything and she (eventually) sets out to get answers. For example, why is Sebastian living with her? What is she? Why has her succubus learned to talk? Why is Flynn being so bipolar? The last bit, I was just kidding. Not really; he is seriously bipolar.

But a warning. If you've read Begging for Mercy, then you'll know to expect more of the love pentagram in Waiting for Mercy. And if you weren't a big fan of the pentagram, you should know that at least 50% of this book is made up of Mercy running between each of the four guys in her fan club. She loves Luke but she feels like she owes Paul more, and she is in lust with Sebastian and Flynn. And that isn't even taking into account her succubus' feelings.

The love pentagram was EXTREMELY frustrating at times, but the book's saving grace was that the pentagram was done well. Shannon Dermott said on her blog that it's possible for someone to love and be loved by more than one person, and Mercy demonstrates that. You can't blame her for loving something different in each of our tortured heroes. It's frustrating for me because even though its obvious who her heart ultimately belongs to, she still makes some REALLY stupid decisions. And so do the boys.

Mercy is a pretty jealous creature, which is ironic considering she has the hearts of 4 guys in her hands. And the green-eyed monster has her doing stupid things in this book. See, when Mercy is jealous or pissed off (eg when she catches Luke kissing/dancing with [anonymous skank's name]) she reacts by trying to make Luke jealous. She either runs off with another guy (Mr Future Doctor) or makes out with the closest creep (Kevin). And Luke and Flynn are just as bad, Luke for having sex with other girls while Mercy and him are broken up and Flynn for throwing his girl toys at Mercy at every turn while hinting that he is in love with her. I want to like the guy, but really, he is not making it easy.

But enough of a boy rant. This book was good. And although the book spent way too long focussing on the tortured emotions of Mercy as she deals with her breakup with Luke, there are some really enjoyable moments that come out of this. Eg Valentines Day. This was gloriously mortifying. There was laughter among the tears and groans of frustration, at least for me. In addition, the effort Shannon put into making us like each character made sense towards the end.

My advice: stick it out, it's worth it. Cos when the action hit in the final quarter, the big "OH SHIT" expression on my face didn't leave. I didn't realise how invested I was in all of the characters until Mercy was forced to choose between saving Luke or Flynn, and then forced to choose between her loyalty and love. Goddamn. I may not have been blown away by the Cambion series after reading Book 1, but I am invested in it now.

This book starts at least two months in the future from where Beg for Mercy left off. We know this because of Mercy's comment very early in the book of beginning self-defense classes 2 months earlier. Right away we are jumped back into the love tangle between Mercy and 3 of the 4 very scrumptious guys. And sure enough, as I felt last book I immediately wanted each guy (well 3 of the 4) to win her heart. For those who haven't read book 1 yet, let me introduce you to the guys.

Flynn - "the resident bad boy", "pure lust on a stick", "faux Mohawk styled in that sexy messy hair perfection look", "looked like a walking ad of high fashion", "arrogant", "winter blue eyes", "pure lust", "dark hipper version of Abercromie and Fitch". Flynn is an Incubus.

Luke - "tousle of golden curls", "beautiful face", "sun kissed skin and blonde head full of curls", "poster boy for Hollister". Luke is Nephilim.

Sebastian - "voice that carried a hint of Scottish lilt", "tall, dark-haired, and dazzling", "wickedly handsome and terribly tempting", "delicious sin", "blue eyes", "dark hair". Sebastian is full demon.

Described of all three "They were each stunning in their own way."

and then there is...
Paul - "confident", "handsome". Paul is human. He just doesn't compare the way the other 3 do, but none-the-less, he is the 4th boy trying to gain Mercy's affections.

Favorite quotes:

On cheese-y valentine lines:
Flynn - "Do you have a Band-Aid? I just scraped my knee falling for you." "You're like a dictionary; you add meaning to my life."

Luke - "If I had to choose between breathing or loving you, I would say "I love you" with my last breath."

Sebastian - "If a thousand painters worked for a thousand years, they could not create a work of art as beautiful as you."

Additional favorite quotes trying to remain spoiler free:

"I don't think I've ever seen two people so unhappy apart."

"My love for...was far different and all encompassing."

"I stared after the boy that stole my heart for the second time."

"...in my heart, he felt like he could be my forever."

"Maybe I want you to lose control..."

"Yes, hapless you...with a harem of hot guys following you like puppy dogs."

"...you have to realize your value if all of us are patiently waiting for you to make up your mind..."

"Your envious heart and jealous nature conflict with what you call yourself."

"Elves like the Keebler kind. I mean I like their cookies, but was he for real."

"Yeah, that's right Luke is candy hearts, love sonnets, and roses. I'm edible body lotion and lost panties..."

"You're hot and cold is going to have me catching pneumonia."

Seriously I think I could quote the entire book! There are so many fabulous lines and moments that I could've listed but not wanting to give anything away these are my top fave spoiler free quotes.

This is the kind of book I like to get lost in. The kind that is gut wrenching, hot and steamy! The kind that leaves you sleep deprived after finishing at 10:00 because you can't get the characters off your mind (true story)! It's wickedly good!! It's not often I rate book 2 in a series higher than book 1 but this book BLEW ME AWAY! And the ending...oh no she did not...well, you just have to read to find out!

I do believe I have a new favorite series! And book 3 comes out when?!?!? Tomorrow is seriously too long of a wait.

5 stars!!!

This book was just as amazing as the previous installment. It totally blew me off my feet!!! And I need some time to breathe before I write a decent review. But oh, my! WHAT A MARVELOUS CLIFFHANGER!!!

So, now that I'm back on track and my mind's actually functioning, I can sit down and write a good review of this awesome book. First of all, I want to say that I loved the character growth that I saw in this second installment of the Cambion Series. I was wondering if I would get to see my favorite characters mature. I did, and I am happy for it. Secondly, I really loved the new info that was revealed concerning Mercy, though it wasn't nearly enough for my curiosity and thirst to be quenched. *sigh* Oh well, next book should do it!
And there was this one scene, the one on Valentine's day, which was so totally cheesy, I was laughing wholeheartedly while reading! I'm sure you all will enjoy this book!

Book weaknesses:
Well, I'm really sad to say this but the massive amount of grammar mistakes, missing punctuation, substitutions and such, kind of bore down on me. Also, lots of verbs were wrongly placed in present tense, when the entire novel was in past tense. It was quite confusing, figuring out what happened when.

Book strengths:
Again, I will mention the character development. Especially the growth we see in Mercy. There were some battles that were quite intense. There was passion that totally blew me off. And there were secrets revealed. Still, the mystery of Mercy remains. Who is she? What is she? It's quite weird that even her mom didn't know the answer to those questions.

There was this one thing that I kind of thought was a drawback. I'm talking about the slow pace of the first hundred or so pages. But then again, the book is called WAITING, so I guess it fits, and I won't count it as a weakness. After all the author knows what's best for her characters :)

Characters:

*Mercy - In the beginning, she was the same kind of girl she was in book one: she didn't push for answers, she didn't get interested in anyone but herself and the boys around her. But then things changed, and she matured. She asked questions, and she tried to help however she could when her friends needed her.

*Luke - he was the same sweet boy as before. Yeah, he was going out, but nothing serious at all. His heart was all for Mercy. Which wasn't the best idea really.

*Flynn - I must say he's my favorite character of them all. He's straight forward, he's strong in his feelings, and he knows what he wants. Sure, he's seduced more girls than anyone else, but he's hasn't really done it out of bad feelings. I keep on wondering whether he'd need all those other girls if Mercy and him ended up together...

*Sebastian - yum yum! But still, he's a full blooded demon, and you've got no idea who his pappy is. Anyway, he's still caring and completely devoted to Mercy. Perhaps he loves her? Who knows what a soulless demon actually feels though?

Well, what are you waiting for? Go grab the book and read, read, read it! :)))

i hve mix feelings about this book. i love it but at times i just wish i wasnt reading it. its really hard to put down and i finised it in about 1 day. i gotta say on my first review i was harsh but i just dont like the way the book is going to far. in my mind i do have a character that i think would be perfect for mercy but who know.. i will first start by saying the bad things then the good. Mercy is the dummest slowest character i had to read. Its like shes stuck in her little bubble and doesnt see the shit that goes around her. reading this book i was quite frustrated because she doesnt know anything but she doesnt pursue to learn shit she jst waits for shit to be handed to her. its annoying how no one tellls her crap either its like wtff is your problem! shes constantly paraded by guys its like her pussy cant be that good.even though we know shes a virgin. its annoying. im not saying the book its bad because its not. but at some point you jst wish Mercy would pick someone who has been there for her and is right for like flynn. i dont understand why luke changes but it mkes me wish he didnt wasnt in the story because i want mercy to end with flynn not only because they are the same kind but because they need eacother and arre good for eachother. Also, i think that its essentially her moms fault that she doesnt know who she is and what she can do. i think the author shud have started to incorpurate those details now because when the third books come u kinda just dont want to read anymore.also, theres alot of other supernaturalthings going on and its jst too much considering we dont know much of what meercy is since everyones not so sure shes jst a sucubus/human.
the good parts are the humor & sarcasm in the book.. i love it. i come to love sebastian and flynn because they are funny. i really hope she ends up wiht flynn because i feel bad when he says that there aint love for their kind which makes you want for him to be happy. most characters arent flat and they add more meaning to the story. i like the fact that mercy does come clean to her feelings for flyyn and all the other guys because its frustrating that she keeps saying that she doesnt feel anything for them.
i get the ffeling that luke isnt good anymore by the way he started talking and acting. im quite shocked by the end of the book! saying shock is an understatement. i totally adore him and i dont want him to die becasue hes done so many things for mercy. i hope for the next book shit gets cleared up and we get a good ending.

This novel is the second one of The Cambions series. The author gifted me a kindle version of this novel and all I can say is that I can't wait to read the third book.

In this book – like in the previous one – there're everything we love in YA books such as mysterious – tons, cute and hot boys – several, and an universe that you can't help youself but find it compelling.

So, I'm still team Flynn. I love his sense of humor and his demeanor. In fact, even if we know more about him, he's still quite mysterious and complexe.

But, Luke is more and more interesting. His story with Mercy sure is enthralling and thrilling because of her inner demon. We're still in the fog with them and it's probably why Luke is not boring even if he is always the first one to forgive and do often if not always the right things.

Now Paul. He's not my favorite character, but I deeply want to read more about him in the third book. I can't write about him more or else I would spoil you, but this character makes me quite curious now.

And finally Sebastian. He's still the more complexe of all the guys hovering over Mercy. I love his dark side, even more with this crazy end that'll bring again another dynamic in the next installment. I'm not that surprised, but I like where it's going with him.

Also, all the little stories beside the main one, somehow, bring more life in the book. It's not a one track story with two or three mysteries. No, this series is full of colourful characters, full of emotions, full of mysteries and possibilities.

I can't wait to know more about Mercy. The author is really good to give some hints but still let the readers in the dark, craving to know more while building up theories.

And I can't believe this end! What is that?! I think it's one of the worst – in a good way – cliffhanger I ever read and yet it's so good to be at the mercy of Shannon Dermott's series. I think I'll obssess over it until I have a date for the publication of the third book. I'm not kidding!

So, I'm team Flynn until the end even if I love all the characters, I adore Mercy and I'm in love with this series and Shannon Dermott's writing style which conveys emotions and pictures in my head.

A must read!

Of course the book was great without a doubt. It captivated me completely and I read it almost in one breath. The ending? Sb wants to kill me ! I couldn’t sleep half night. Thought that I have to wait 5 mths is not helping.

Again, her idea with SAT words is brilliant. This is what I was looking for. English isn’t my first language and I am happy I can learn sth more and enjoy in the same time.

There was danger, fights and adventure - all things that made a good novel. However more than anything I was taken by Flynn. The boy was almost to hot to handle.

Flynn, of course is my favorite. It is impossible to resist his charm and lid bad boy. In fact, since the beginning, Mercy did not give him even a chance. I hope that there is still opportunity for them…. And Meggie? Really? I hope that in the next book there will be no more flirts between them. Meggie is a sweet with Brent and let it be.

Sebastian, I sincerely do not buy his spell.
Paul , sorry for wording but WTF ?

Luke, perfect golden boy? I have mixed feelings. He gives up sth for Mercy but what for? I understand that the book has to carry some message that love overcomes all… that we should fight for it and never give up. But still…. Eh, anyway, I have a feeling that Luke is not such a good boy how he seem to be, like he is hiding something. Maybe I'm wrong and look for something that is not in order to find reasons for which Mercy should not be with him. Maybe in the next book we will find more. Luke was always sweet and carrying but at the end we see the change.. will he become bad boy as well? Nah, Flynn will be my favorite anyway. I do not know why but in real life we all definitely would fall more for him that for Flynn, with books it is always different.

I hope the author does not resolve the love mess by killing someone. Somehow I always hope thinks will end up differently that it is written. After all, it's not my book, the author has the right to do it, so no complaining. I believe the best is yet to come in future books and I can't wait to read them. Enjoy reading everyone, I'm sure you will love this story.

Ps. Sorry for mistakes.

For those people who knew me and my books, they know that I'm a fangirl over really good book series and stuff. Percy Jackson! Delirium! Graceling! Divergent! Legend! Omg! Yeah. So I actually consider adding the Cambion series to my book list. It's that good.

Since I'm so bad at reviewing, I'll just warn you first hand this is more of my opinions instead of my summary.

In this book, there was literally too much Ohmygawd scenes for me too even remember. Seriously. You should see all my highlights and notes. Literally all notes say Ohmygawd in them.

Remember on the Beg for Mercy review, I said I was on Team Luke and I will change my answer since I already read this book before I did the Beg for Mercy review.

Pretty much Paul is ruled out. He is just Mercy's best friend. Not exactly hot compared to Flynn and Luke and Sebastian. I'm still hoping Mercy would end up with Luke since he was the perfect golden boy. He could clam people down and forgive them. The perfect perfect! But at the end he changed a bit. I really hope he would change back to how he normally is. The perfect boy. And there is also Flynn to consider. He's no longer a total jackass and plus, he made up a big part of the cliffhanger. Flynn is actually looking pretty hot now. So really I don't know.

In my heart is probably the old Luke. The golden angel, if he would ever come back. :(

So yes. I guess it ends here. And really though. Nothing can be compared to Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver (Delirium #1)'s cliffhanger if you know what I mean. If you don't, you should totally read that too.

Right now, I just want the third book to come out right now! The ending. I need to read it! An I also hope it's a trilogy because any more of those can't help but read books, I'm going broke.

I'm going to have to reread this book because so much happened and I meant to write my review and now I can't remember what I meant to say!

I know I loved it just like I did the first. This is still one of my favorite series.

I remember thinking that I can't understand why everyone loves Flynn so much when Luke is just so darn amazing. Sebastian really surprised me in this book and we see a lot of him. I was very sad about what seems to be happening at the end. I'm so confused and I hope things don't stay that way!! (Yes, I'm talking about relations with a boy but not saying which).

Some of the situations Mercy finds herself in are down right comical, even if they seem like they would only happen in a story, and I really enjoyed them. Some situations I wasn't expecting at all. I like how most of the time she is in this normal world but small paranormal happenings and other times she's in a completely fantastical place.

After I reread, I'm sure I'll be adding more! I just know we need more questions answered. So, on that note, where is the next one?! :)

This was a very exciting sequel! Actually, it was a total mess, but I loved it. The boys were so great, all of them. Let's see: I got more disappointed in Luke -- which didn't really surprise me --, wanted to shake and smack Sebastian around some more (although he was cool, too), and fell for Flynn all over again. The only thing to do was having pity for Mercy, because it didn't really matter which way she turned -- it would've been fucked up one way or another. I mean it. Things were bound to get out of hand, and they did. Big time, and it's very ugly. I just hope they can somehow get it all fixed in the last installment, although I already see characters dying... which is not good at all, not even in my heroic imagination. Especially with that cliffhanger lying around. Gah, need to know how it ends, and fast!!

Area Scan: Flow: 4/5 -- Vocab: 3/5 -- Plot: 3.5/5 -- Heroes: 4/5 -- Villains: 4/5 -- Romance: 3.5/5 -- Smut: 3.5/5 -- Drama: 4/5 -- Action: 4/5 -- Suspense: 3/5 -- Humor: 4/5

Amazing installment in the awesome series! I need the third book immediately - with such a cliffhanger even a saint may lose patience! Gripping plot, romantic super-tension, some secrets revealed and more new secrets, relationships drama - all the factors, that make the book unputdownable! Most of all I loved the scene with roses and professings of love on the Valentine's Day- that was really hilarious! I liked to see Luke with the backbone and Flynn's words to Mercy in the last chapter were just perfect!I was moved by Paul's birthday gifts and 80% of Sebastian's actions were adorable. There are many unresolved situations and this fact suggests, that the third installment will be exciting and eventful - can't wait! Highly recommended series!!!

Holy cliffhanger ending! I'm going to be biting my nails until the next one comes out.

I love the concept. I'm all for stories about angels and that sort of thing, but honestly I love the succubus angle. Kind of like having a bad guy be the hero. Totally all for that. Also, the fact that the book is set right around where I live, and mentions a hot restaurant in my adoptive hometown (shout out to Volt!) had me so giddy when I read it. I could totally picture my family sitting down with Mercy to watch Top Chef.

All the men around Mercy...wow. Luke is totally sweet, and Paul I want to smack around. Sebastian, no matter what is still a mystery to me. And Flynn...oh, I am totally Team Flynn.

Ok, going to go bite my nails until the next one is out.

I'm not into love triangles let alone four or more, but I understand in this book. Normally I'd say I'm team Luke, but in all honesty I'm all Flynn. Always have been. There is just something about him. Maybe its his badassness! Luke was just too much of a pushover for me when it came to Mercy. I still think he's a great guy just not the one meant to be with Mercy. And lets face... All girls love bad boys! I hope in the next book there are more steamy scenes between Mercy and Flynn. And hopefully she finally lets go of Luke. Please Please hurry with the next book Shannon!!! I can't wait much longer to read the rest.

This book has a killer of an ending!! I can not believe I am going to have to wait to find out what happens. Sure I can guess but that is not the same.

I love this series! I love the guys in it that are impossible to choose between. This book had a lot of action and fighting to keep you reading. Some secrets were revealed and some were answered, and some new ones came out. My only complaint is that a few things tended to be repeated, like the party Flynn was throwing and why was mentioned more than once within a few pages. There were a lot of editing issues too. I cannot wait for the next book, and hope Shannon writes fast!

Ahhh finally.. I just finished and wow....

It was amazing i was totally hooked to each page. I was laughing like an idiot and then saying what the f**k..

How can someone say they didn't like it would really amaze me. Shannon Dermott again, did a good job to keep the reader curious and wanting for more. New things keep popping up and hence there was not once i got bored.

I loved Mercy's character she really changed compared in the first book and my it was exactly what she needed so. And Girls prepare to be swoon over by those guys if you want some bad ass guys you will have it or some good guys too..As for romance, thrillers and fun there is nothing amiss.

I really enjoyed this book. I think the 2nd book in a series is so important. It's somewhat easy to hook a reader in to the first book but to hold that attention is difficult with the 2nd. I can not wait for the 3rd book to come out. The cliffhanger at the end of this book definitely leaves you wanting to know what happens next. The love triangle, or square is probably more accurate, does get complicated but I think that it is true to Mercy's character and what she is. It makes sense that she would be pulled in several directions it's in her nature.

That cliffhanger is killing me! This book is better than the first. That's not always true in series books, but I think the story moved along at a smoother pace than book one and the characters are more familiar. Plus there is more going on plot wise for sure! I really like all the guys, but I'm hoping that Mercy ends up with Luke. He's really hot, he's half angel, but he's still kind of a bad boy too!

This book defiantly leaves you on the edge of your seat waiting for the next installment! < spoiler alert> most of the book I felt like crying because I wanted to to work out so bad for Mercy and Luke. I felt like something was keeping them apart either physically or mentally. I love Luke and I want the good guy to win this time :) Shannon is an amzing writer and I can't wait to read Angel of Mercy! The whole series is defiantly worth reading atleast once!
