Ratchet, Hot Rod, The Decepticon Justice Division, and Grimlock all take turns on the center stage as the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons transitions into a new phase.
What I like about the series Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye is that it is basically a Star Trek comicbook with giant robots. In fact, the crew of the Lost Light feels like Star Trek characters.
Rodimus - He's the J.J. Abrams Kirk; he's cocky, appears to temperamental to be in charge but surprisingly capable and clever. Ultra Magnus - As the resident cop or "Duly Appointed Enforcer of the Tyrest Accord" is as unyielding to protocol as Spock was and like the Vulcan is beginning to change. Ratcher - A crochety old doctor? Definitely Bones McCoy. Rung - As the ship's counselor, he's a Deanna Troi but definitely less sexy. Cyclomus - A spiritually devout former Decepticon; he reminds me of Worf, because of his martial prowess.
There's a lot more comparison and analogies I can name but the point is that I enjoyed this digital collection because of the Star Trek vibe.
When I first read this, I was ready to give this a five, but with another reading, I realized that although this more than a four, it's really less than a five but close. It's maybe a 4.75.
I liked this because I liked following these minor Decepticons. The only problem is there are a lot of new characters here and it's kind of hard to mentally keep track of them all, along with what is going on. Some of them look a lot alike. The story bounces around a lot too. It's good but a little bit disjointed to me. I've read all the comics so far and I really don't remember what happened to Grimlock, or him being captured. So when he shows up here, I'm a bit confused as to what is going on. But still, good art, good characters, good story. Recommended.
