A lot of books out there write about the fantasy part of sex. This book actually gives a bit of the reality of sex. Jacey and Dominic are faced with the option to join their neighbourhood swingers. I realize the average person would never do such a thing. However, this book gives insight into Jacey's decision whether to join or not. The thought process she goes through is real, and that's what I really liked about this book. The should I/shouldn't I dilemna are thoughts that we would go through if ever confronted with a situation like this. I also liked the fact that even though the average person wouldn't partake in a swingers night, the book makes you think "hmmm, who on my street could I have sex with and experience absolutely no guilt or suffer any repercussions"? Admit it, there's at least one person deep down you've secretly thought about:)
Making Friends by Anna Ellis is book one in the Husbands and Wives series that is what everyone who reads these books really wanted Desperate Housewives to be.
When Jacey and Dominic move into their new home, they are surprised by the emptiness of the neighborhood. All the other homes were quiet. For Jacey that is fine, she is not the most social of people. Having left her career behind, she is by all accounts a genius, but as such, does not relate to other people well. But Dominic is her opposite in this, a school teacher whose personality wins his friends everywhere. With a young toddler at home, time for Jacey and Dominic to share alone are few so when they find themselves interrupted on a morning they have just put their baby to rest, Jacey is a little annoyed to find several women at her door. The neighbors have come home and decided to visit the newcomers. It seems that the neighborhood had taken a group vacation together. Jacey finds this odd but quickly becomes part of the group. Soon she finds herself and Dominic invited to one of the neighborhood's Saturday night parties. Jacey is expecting a barbecue of sorts but is informed that the neighborhood's Saturday night parties are entirely something different. They are key parties. House keys are placed into a bowl and chosen by one of the wives or the husbands. Whoever belongs to the keys, goes with the one who has chosen. Wives and Husbands are exchanged for a night of passion and sex. Sometimes it is more than that, sometimes threesomes are in involved as one of the wives joins another couple. Are Jacey and Dominic ready for this? Is this the spark their marriage is craving and once taken, can they find their way back from this path?
What Jacey finds is that she has a talent for this life and what Dominic finds, is that he loves to hear about his young wife's adventures.
This tale could easily become one of hundreds of women's erotica that could be lost in the pile of cheap thrills and fast times. But Anna Ellis does what so many erotica writers simply seem to miss. She creates characters that the reader relates to and cares about. Not only Jacey and Dominic but the entire neighborhood. All couples have issues and all find a different excitement and release in their arrangement.
Jacey is an intriguing character. She finds the arrangement strange and with so many possible dangers to her relationship to Dominic. But what she finds is that the new arrangement has opened up a fresh excitement for herself and Dominic. Her desires and adventures only feed her husband's voyeuristic side and fantasies.
Overall, what this book is, is exactly what erotica should be. Sensuous, exciting and fun.
A light but interesting start to the story. It’s not a standalone and needs the follow-up books to build on this introduction.
This book is from the wife’s perspective, and although she and her husband make it to the neighbourhood key party, we only read the wife’s experience. And I felt the mystery was diminished when the hostess picked the pairing rather than letting the bowl of keys decide.
I’m pushing on to book 2 as I’ve bought the full series. Hopefully I’ll know more by the end of book 2 🤗
Our couple moves into a new neighborhood and is welcomed with open arms and, it seems, open beds.
This is the first book in a new (to me) series about an entire neighborhood of swingers. We discover this situation along with our couple and watch as they navigate this unexpected thing, trying to figure out if they want to participate. The story is very well written, with well developed and realistic characters. Their reactions and thought processes are understandable and I found myself flipping pages to see what they would decide (although if they decided to abstain it wouldn't be much of a series, now would it?)
As a set up for the series, we were not treated to as much steamy action as one might expect, but I was okay with this. Rather than force the action, we get a realistic build and it just makes me want to roll straight into the next book.
Highly recommended.

Oh wow, super racy! Romance novels seem to have a spectrum ... this would be in the more moderate end to me. I enjoyed Jacey and Dom, I often feel romance novels don't highlight the love and sexual desire amongst married couples really well. It's always about the singles! Keep in mind this book does get pretty graphic and risque and treads into mental fantasy territory....which I am finding most erotic romance does and that is what makes it kinda fun. So depending on how far out you are willing to go on the spectrum will determine if you will enjoy this story or not.
Love love love this series! The story is great. Very eye opening. I wanna run the show like Tia and live like Jacey. Be understanding and open like Dom. Forgiving like Page, and experienced like Declan and Natalie! Loving like Wendy. Adventurous like Melissa and Mahak, and fun like Jackson. Keep writing stories like these. I wanna move to honeysuckle court yall!!!!! I'm so jealous!
I loved it! I'm calling it gentle erotica, not much kink but lots of couple lovin'! It sets the story up for lots of sexy stuff to come and you'll never look at your neighbours the same way!

This is the story of Jacey and Dominick who move to the suburbs and discover their neighbors are “extreamily” close! And want Jacey and Dominick to be part of “the group”. Truly erotic and makes you think!

I received a free copy of this book however all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own. I loved this! As you would expect, it's a steamy read - but let's face it, that's what we expect and hope for isn't it?! 😉
They have moved into a new place and everyone seems very friendly. They make friends quickly but they are soon to discover they all like to swing. Will they join in? How much fun will they have? See how much

So it seems a little clichéd, however there was something rather naughty but interesting about this book. The story follows Jacey and Dominic who are a mischievous couple in their own right. With two children and having just moved from the bustling city they are finding very little time to ‘get it on’ so to speak. Quick sparks of passion created through coded sentences mean that the two are all too frequently reminded how their life used to be before the appearance of two tiny bundles of tiring joy. Upon the beginning of their new life in the suburbs, the two find themselves becoming the fascination of the neighbourhood clique. Intrigued by the interest of their new highly attractive neighbours the two find that the intrigue isn’t only a friendly one but a lusty one also. However Jacey has a secret; she finds herself weakening in the presence of the ever-helpful handyman to the neighbourhood Joe. Will he be at the gathering or will she find herself in the hands of another man from the neighbourhood?
Okay, so for starters, don’t get the wrong idea about this book. When I started getting into it I was worried it was going to become cheap and a little over the top but it’s handled incredibly well. It has a desperate housewives feel about it, the idea that you never know what could be happening behind the perfectly painted front doors and manicured front lawns of your friendly neighbourhood residents. Each perfectly happy with their own lives but secretly wanting something more. In terms of characterisation, despite it being a relatively short book, the characters are well built up and have a lot of characteristics to them. Jacey is considerate and thoughtful but harbours a mischievous and bold sexual desire. Dominic is a doting father and all round sweet and dependable male but given the chance he’s just as intrigued. The best way to explain it is that it is written incredibly well in a palatable way that doesn’t make it seem either sleazy or unbelievable.
I also liked the introduction of the relationship that began to grown between Jacey and Joe because her relationship with Dominic is so strong and honest that it was interesting to follow her feelings of being intrigued by the dishy male (and he sounds pretty hot.) It’s something I’m sure will be discussed in the books to come and I’m interested to see how it will play out. I also found it interesting how Jacey during the Saturday night ‘party’ (cough, cough, nudge, nudge, wink, wink,) is suddenly struck with such strong feelings of jealously when she sees her supposedly darling husband finding himself in the arms of another woman. It added a hypocritical aspect to Jacey’s supposed crush which helps to add more of an interweaving sub-plot to the short novel.
The only negatives I can really comment on are firstly the title of the book, it’s just not particularly exciting or intriguing and I like the stylised front covers and the way they change throughout the series but the titles don’t make me want to read them. The only second thing which I am sure will be discussed is more into the description of the ladies of the neighbourhood clique; I think they could have been described and given strong personality types but it’s a short book so maybe I’m expecting a little too much too early on. Overall I actually really enjoyed this; a little naughty and lusty but a perfect quick read for someone just starting or intrigued by erotically natured books.

I have mixed feelings here. But I like the couple and would like to know more. At the same time, I'm afraid that if I keep reading the series, the things I've like most about them are the ones that I will start to hate.
I don't know, I'm confused. :)
