So I Was Thinking About Adoption... is written specifically for women considering adoption for their children, has received much media attention. It is now considered the finest book of it's kind and is available nationwide.

Additionally, Mardie has written The Healthcare Professionals Adoption Guide, geared toward educating doctors, nurses, social workers, and anyone working with women in the healthcare industry. Many times, these professionals are working directly with women who are making the difficult decisions about their child's future, yet there is little training to bring them up-to-date on the best practices in open adoption. This guide, along with the opportunity for in-service trainings has made a huge difference with adoption education for healthcare professionals.

*While many of us desire to be parents, I believe it is a far fewer number who are called by God to love and nurture a child who is not biologically ours. It is God who calls these parents to adoption. ~And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me. Matthew 18:5

*Adoption is not only about building a family, but is also building the family of Christ. Just as we are adopted into God’s family, so, too, are we called as Christians to help these children and expand Christ’s territory. Adopting a child into our lives, our hearts, and His heavenly kingdom is actively changing a life for our lifetime and for eternity.

*Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6
Step by step, task by task, day by day, you are being led by Him. Don’t let finances stop you from finding the child God has meant for you. (I do believe the Lord doesn’t allow us more than we can handle.) If He has provided the desire, He will provide the means, as well.

* Adoption is a matter of the heart…He know your heart and desires for being a parent.
A child deserves to have parents who love and cherish him as the most precious gift on earth.

* Ladies, He is calling you to be more than you are and to love a child born outside of your womb, yet inside of your heart.
“Trust in His guidance and His plans for you. And never forget that there is a baby for you!”

I really enjoyed this book. This was my first book to read about adoption so I don't have any comparisons but I enjoyed how there were stories as well as info. about adoption - it made it enjoyable to read. I also thought the author gave very unbiased info - she layed out the pros/cons (although she didn't refer to them as that) of international adoption and state/interstate adoptions. She had mentioned good points about international adoption that most people wouldn't think about (until researching) and I really liked how she expressed the importance of getting to know a child's culture/home country as well because I think that's important too. I just really enjoyed this book - even though we aren't looking to adopt for quite some time and will adopt an older child, I still liked the book a lot!

Called to Adoption is the #1 resource for those dreaming of adopting! It's to-the-point, and easy for all to read. I found the step-by-step format that Caldwell used to be very beneficial...everything I was wondering about adopting was included in this book, as well as answers to questions I hadn't yet thought of! As a Christian, I also appreciated the biblical passages and references that were used throughout the book. I recommend Called to Adoption to anyone who is getting started in their adoption journey!

This book was provided to us by Lifetime Adoption, an adoption facilitator. I really enjoyed the personal stories woven throughout the book. It includes good information about the different types of adoption and different paths adoptive parents might take.

There are not many audiobooks on adoption. This is the book I started with for knowledge on the topic. A lot of good info, but the book has some statements that are just common sense. The author also has some stories about families that adopted that could be good examples for those considering.

Some of the chapters were good, but mostly I found myself reading hoping it would get better. It did not fit where I am at I guess. I hope it is useful to other people considering adoption.

The call I've known

I have known my calling to adopt since a very young age. I never knew why. I simply felt it was I was suppose to do. Later in life through God I understood and a felted my calling. This book supports the call to adoption. If adoption is your calling from God you will fail. God is your greatest supporter.

Best most informative book I have read on the how tos of adoption! Just know that EVERYTHING you read will be biased towards the method of adoption they represent. We went a different route but it laid out the options AND the fears and answered them with bible verses. SOOO good.
