Stimulating, interesting, and diverse set of articles explore design thinking for business. Traditional analytic approaches are great for optimizing a business and understanding competitive position. But to carve out a truly novel business takes more than an original idea. Many articles flesh out specific situations where a radical design was created to solve a problem. Some of the interesting concepts included the use of iteration and the scientific method in a business context. The importance of disconfirming results and reacting to understand how to create objective value. The articles are short so it is easy to pick away at the book a little at a time. They are uneven, you are unlikely to like all of them. But several of them are very insightful and help reconcile creative and analytic thinking about business.
Perhaps the most influential reading experience of my career, with true insights and practical tools for not only thinking like a designer, but becoming one. Every problem I face now has the simple process — What is? What if? What wows? What works?
