Murder at Whitegates Manor
When Catherine Morton arrives at Whitegates Manor, she discovers that the house was the scene of a fatal accident the previous year. But when the other guests starting dying in suspicious circumstances, it becomes clear that the "accident" was murder, and that the murderer is killing again. Can she trust the handsome Mr Stanton? I'm not really certain how this title came to my attention, however, I am thoroughly happy it did! That being said, I found myself lulled into a cozy, tea-sipping, gentle read from the Regency period of England at a Manor house party.
Catherine Morton is a single lady of independent means and has accepted an invitation to be a house guest of Lord and Lady Carlton at their modest dwelling Whitegates Manor. The single drawback is that there seems to be something unsavoury in the house's reputation. An 'accident?'
This novel seemed to be the first published book by an aspiring author...until...I was shocked off my chair by the sudden attack on Miss Morton on page 43 and then there was the next 'accident' on page...well, I quickly learned that Ms. Tyler likes to throw in shocking and startling incidents throughout her book to keep the reader compelled to solve the crimes.
The book needed some editing, as does my reviews, for spelling, and mis-naming of characters (only once I promise,) but please give this novel a chance as Ms. Tyler is a story teller going places in my opinion.
This book was compelling, lulled the reader into insecurity, and kept me guessing until the ending. I did get the wrong culprit. I will be looking for further works by this author!

Great mystery
This is possibly one of the best mystery stories that take place during the Regency period in England. Catherine goes to the estate of a family friend who has numerous guests there for a house party. She finds the house is the scene of a murder 2 years before and becomes interested in it and the subsequent murders happening now. The writer gives us plenty of characters with motives or opportunity to murder and it's not until the very end that it all ties together!

Cozy mystery
This is a nice cozy mystery with an entertaining plot and likable heroine. But there were so many characters that it became difficult to remember who was whom. A list with descriptions would have helped. Causing more confusion, there were several editing errors where the wrong names were used, or a first name from one character was used with the last name of another. I had to search the book for the name and figure out the correct identity by reference.

Good mystery that kept me guessing until the end. I liked it, but wished there was more interaction between the hero and heroine. There was one slightly dodgy part where the heroine gets an eyeful of the hero when he goes swimming at the lake, but other than that, the book is a fun, clean, historical mystery.

An enjoyable mystery set in the regency period. A house party murder. I did guess the ending even with a few red herrings. I always hate it when they know the answer but refuse to tell because they might be wrong but that is just a small caveat.

Good cozy recency mystery. Mystery can be figured out if you think hard enough (or have read enough before maybe) but not super easy.
