Everything Fades Away

Rate this book
An ebook original short story from the New York Times bestselling Queen of Erotica about what explodes when a man and woman—both suffering marital problems with their respective partners—coincidentally find themselves involved in a steamy love affair with each other despite the peril that looms at home.Amanda is bored with life. She spends hours a day on Facebook, her parents act like they are too ancient to enjoy life any longer, and her military husband, Ralph, is deployed to Afghanistan. Gideon is not totally content at home either. His wife, Nina, is a lifetime overachiever and a workaholic. She has moved her mother into their home so she can have a live-in sitter, and Gideon has fallen to the bottom of her priority list. On Black Friday 2012, both Amanda and Gideon end up at a Best Buy to take advantage of the massive price cuts. When the store opens its door at midnight, the potential customers rush the glass doors and end up in a brawl. Built-up excitement turns into mass pandemonium as the police show up in riot gear. Tear gas containers are being tossed around like lollipops and strangers are beating on each other like a heavyweight fight at the MGM Grand in Vegas. Amanda and Gideon both end up in the skywalk overlooking the madness and, even though they are complete strangers to each other, the adrenaline rush overwhelms them and they discover quick ecstasy among the chaos. After putting their clothes back on, followed by making formal introductions, they embark on a sexual journey together that re-ignites the flames in their souls. Both are forced to make choices that they never thought would have to be made; marriages are placed at risk; heartbreak is inevitable. What starts out merely as casual sex becomes much more than mere physical attraction and their lives begin to unravel. No matter how incredible something wrong can make one feel, eventually, Everything Fades Away.

Zane created another banger and I loved it !! plus there's lots of sex sex sex !! some steamy sex scenes in this one !! ;) Good job Zane ! if you follow her work and you thought Afterburn was sad , hold on and buckle your seat belts !! This is the second book read in Beautiful By Design's (BBD) 'Choose your favorite book' cycle. The book selected by DeAnna was Everything Fades Away by Zane. This was a great selection due to the short timeframe between our last Book Club meeting. It was an easy-to-read short story that gripped and held our attention to the end. As a group, we rated it 4 out of 5 stars. Although this short story was packed with eroticism, it had a significant storyline. Things that can happen in marriages or relationships. Zane managed to wrap this story up within 68 pages by starting the story at a climatic level (no pun intended) and remaining at that pace throughout leaving us all with one word at the end -- Damn!
BBD was asked to describe this book in one word. The words were: excitement, erotic, good, sad, and saucy. It was a poignant story, but well-balanced with seduction and a theme that many can either relate to or have thought about. I think this book definitely has all of the ingredients to be longer through further development of the characters as well as a great premise for a movie.
The cover of the book shows a woman's legs bound by 3 red ties. BBD attempted to analyze why we thought that was symbolic of the main character. We surmised that it indicated the restrictions by what she was confined to albeit the binds of her marriage, her relationship, and her illness. Overall, this book was very eventful with an unexpected twist. Zane did a great job making all the pieces flow for a seamless short story.

I loved this story! Zane did her thing on this one. The story was great and as always I wish it was an entire novel, I would have loved to read more about the two lovers. But as she said, everything fades away! Must read!

Incredible writing from both the female and male characters point of view. Zane elevates erotica to a whole other level. The inciting incident that brings the two married characters together - the midnight rush at a Best Buy store on Black Friday is frankly hysterical and hotter than hell. It certainly makes me want to stand online in the middle of the night next year!

Zane does it again....

Once a Zane book lover, forever will be an avid reader!!! Loved it. I will continue to read her books. Must read....

At first I didn't know what to think from the first few pages. Im not sure if there are people who actually react to a situation in that manner. I kept reading and as the story developed it was full of passion, love it had a realness that just swept me away. The ending was a real surprise will make you hurt to the point of almost being teary eye. Read it!! It was worth it.

This was a great story to listen to on my morning walk. It had a beginning, which I thought was kind of questionable, but by the end of the story, I loved it. It was hard, as it was a book of cheating, but the way it ended.....it made sense. It wasn't a happy ending, but a necessary one with both lovers getting what they needed, though it may not have been what they wanted. Amanda and Gideon found something in each other and despite the cheating, found something special in their freedom to explore with one another and it made me a future reader of this author. :)

WOW!!! This has to be the best short story I ever read. The end almost brought me to tears. I really enjoyed reading this story, but I wish that it was longer because I think it would've been a great novel.
