SHAKTI MANTRAS
Tapping into the Great Goddess Energy Within

• Enhance your spiritual gifts
• Lighten your karmic burden
• Improve your health and increase prosperity
• Live in harmony with the universe

Now, with Shakti Mantras, we can all benefit from this ancient practice. Thomas Ashley-Farrand, a Vedic priest, is an American expert in the intricacies of Sanskrit mantra. With nearly thirty years and thousands of hours of experience in chanting, he is supremely well-equipped to write the first book that teaches women (and men as well) to tap into the dynamic feminine energy of love in all its manifestations. By sharing enchanting Hindu myths and astonishing true stories from his own practice, Ashley-Farrand helps us to understand the real power that this age-old art awakens in those who perform it. Through dozens of actual mantras–each one presented with phonetic spelling for easy pronunciation and recommendations for specific applications–he enables us to increase our “shakti” (power) and use it to solve problems, ensure abundance, create health and well-being, summon protection, and invoke personal and universal peace.

Whether you’re new to chanting or an old hand, Shakti Mantras will take you places you’ve never been before . . . and measurably enrich your life.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The author is very knowledgeable about spiritual matters and manages to write in an accessible style. I started reading the book because I wanted to understand Shakti and the use of mantras. I feel I have a much greater grasp of both topics. Thanks to Shakti Mantras, I will be starting a mantra regimen (not telling which one). I would recommend this book to anyone interested in Indian spirituality or the feminine aspect of the Divine.

For those interested in the Hindu goddesses, in the power of the feminine, and especially, those who are interested in mantra and the power of the spoken word, this book deserves 10 stars. A beautiful book that I hugged to my chest many times while absorbing the power of its words and content. Highly recommend.... if you're into that sort of thing.

A must for any student of mantras. A great guide, exploring how to tap into different goddess energy, and why you'd want to tap into the goddesses.

Brilliant Research

The author poured out his soul into this work, a culture alien to him. He has done a tremendous job and his passion is evident.

Great explanation of Buddhist creation story. I like the phonetic spelling of the mantras. You may feel like a crazy person chanting to yourself but if there is an ounce of truth, its worth it. It is also soothing. When situations arise I find I can rely on a mantra that is stuck in my head. Others are mesmerized when I pull a mantra out of nowhere. Its almost as if it makes the world stop for a brief moment.

After reading about Thomas Ashley-Farrand, I purchased two of his mantra CDs. After listening to them, I was hooked but wanted to learn more. The books "Shakti Mantras" and "Healing Mantras" provided the information I was looking for. I use them both as a reference books, looking up things I have questions about, as well as reading straight through. For me, re-reading helps me better understand the layers of mantra.

Ah, Shakti, Devi, Goddess! Besides being a wonderful source of mantras for honoring the Mother, this book and all of his are also wonderful resources for understanding the spiritual systems of Hinduism and related traditions. Mantra is the yoga of sound and a powerful yet accessible practice. I highly recommend this book along with Healing Mantras, and Chakra Mantras by this author.

A thorough and grounded introduction to the practice of mantra, which from a distance always seemed a bit strange and suspect. I really enjoyed the parts exploring the science of sound, and would recommend this book as a good primer for those wanting to learn more about--and maybe try--the practice.

thoroughly enjoyable...the author goes into the legends behind the various female deities that the mantras are based on, and then tells you the various mantras associated with that deity/energy and how to pronounce them phonetically. a wonderful and inspiring read.

The author explains the myths behind the mantras, in addition to meaning and impact of recitation. This has been an important source for me in my journey of developing my own practice. Very well written.
