I was excited to read Midnight Ink because I have been a long-time fan of Jayne Rylon and Mari Carr. While I had heard of some of the other writers who contributed to Midnight Ink, this was my first introduction to most of them. Well, after reading Midnight ink, they all have a new fan. I don’t think I can say enough good things about this anthology because it was beyond amazing.
The stories in the anthology are grounded in the Midnight Ink tattoo shop set in New Orleans. Each story includes a couple at a crossroad in their life and how they work through it. The culture and beauty of New Orleans is reflected in each tale and every author has captured the essence of New Orleans in their descriptions and characters. I have never been to New Orleans, but after reading Midnight Ink I think I’m going to have to book a ticket.
The stories flow so effortlessly and seamlessly, that they almost appear to be written by one author just using different names. I was amazed and impressed how several characters appeared in multiple stories, yet the characters remained true to themselves no matter which author included them. Each story, despite being novellas, provided a complete story. The relationships between each couple leapt off the pages and right into my heart. I loved the friendship and camaraderie among the staff at Midnight Ink. Their receptionist Sassy was the glue that held the stories, and the tattoo shop, together. On her own she was an amazing character and I just wish that she had found her own HEA.
At this point I must confess that I do not have any tattoos myself, nor have I ever understood the fascination with ink. However, after reading Midnight Ink, I have come to appreciate the thought that goes into each tattoo and the artistry that is needed to create them. Each tattoo that one of the characters had received, had a personal meaning and represented something special to the wearer. I loved that even the tattoo artists themselves, and they are indeed artists, took the time to understand their client and create a piece of art that truly represents the wearer.
It would be nearly impossible to tell you which of the stories were my favorite because each one touched me in a different way. In each story, the hero and heroine were people that I came to care about and cheered for their happy ending. Whether it was the woman coming to terms with surviving breast cancer, or the woman breaking off from her controlling mother, or the woman trying to move on from a divorce, each woman was strong and determined to regain control of their lives. The men were strong yet sensitive, dominating though caring, and pretty close to perfection. There wasn’t a bad story in the bunch which is pretty amazing. I can honestly say that I have never before read an anthology in which I loved each and every story.
Midnight Ink is currently priced at only 99 cents. This is an unbelievable bargain considering the high quality of the writing. My suggestion is run, don’t walk to your computer and download this anthology just in case the powers that be realize the gem they have and raise the price. You won’t regret your decision.
This is what all anthologies should be. I was excited about it because it contained stories by a number if authors I already love.. Every story was wonderful, not a dud in sight. I'm excited mosts of the stories are the start of new series. I'm looking forward to reading all of them!
I took several months to read this anthology, reading it whenever I didn't have anything else to read for the month. According to the law of averages, this is more of a 2.5 star read overall. Each story either fits into its respective series, or works as a standalone, but I'm not sure I'd read the entire anthology again. Reviews for each individual story follows:
Jayne Rylon ― Report For Booty I’d never read any of the author’s work before, but I kinda enjoyed this story! I liked the reunion part, and the part that Shep and Sassy played in it, but I thought Burke was a complete jerk in the first place! I could understand his reasoning, but he also didn’t allow Chavon any choice in the matter, which I didn’t care for. All in all, a good story, so 4 stars from me!
Sidney Bristol ― Picture Her Bound (Bayou Bound) This story was just ok. The ending scene was moved into extremely abruptly, and I had to go back and check to make sure I hadn’t missed anything! Parts of it were a bit unbelievable, and I had a hard time connecting to the characters. I also couldn’t see what it had to do with the tattoo parlor, and when the shop was finally mentioned, it felt like an obligatory afterthought. I think I’m just not a good fit for the author, and only give this one 2 stars.
Robin L. Rotham ― Not So Over Eli I felt that this was a decent story overall, even though parts of it really didn’t make any sense to me. I liked the fact that it focused on one of the regular artists at the tattoo parlor, but didn’t like the fact that it left the situation kind of up in the air. I definitely liked Rhonda and Eli as characters, but Bart was too weak to my way of thinking, even for a dedicated sub! A solid 3 star story overall.
PG Forte ― Inked Memories I really hated this story! This one put me off reading the anthology for a while, and right while I was in the middle of the story, making me have to re-read it! Declan was a complete asshole, and Sophie played the victim card too well. I had a hard time believing in their romance, and there was too much living in the past and no getting to know each other as they were now. Will be avoiding the author in the future, just based on this 1 star story!
RG Alexander ― To The Bone (Bone Daddy #2.5) I was really confused by this story. I get that it’s an in between novella, but I would think that if you’re an author participating in an anthology, you’d want to attract readers to your previous and upcoming works. Nothing was explained in this story! That does not bode well for the previous books in the series! I also didn’t get what was so bad about Etta’s previous tattoos, as those weren’t explained either. Christie’s relationship to the former owner wasn’t explained well, nor was his ability to purchase the bar at that precise time. I had some minor interest in the story, but the romance wasn’t really there, as it was overshadowed by the questions I had. Not sure I would read anything else by this author, since this is really just a 2 star story for me.
Eden Bradley ― Dangerously Inked (Dangerous 0.5) This was a very boring story! Finn and Rosie’s tastes were downplayed quite a bit, to the point where I couldn’t tell if they were actually what they said they were in the first place! I had a hard time connecting with them both as characters, as I found them to be very closed off, and this led to me not truly believing in their romance. The writing style didn’t engage me, and I really had no interest in furthering the story by continuing on with the series. An utter disappointment and waste of time, so it gets 1 star.
Carrie Ann Ryan ― Ink Inspired (Montgomery Ink 0.5) Previously reviewed! “I really enjoyed this story! Shea got on my nerves a bit with how much she cowed to her Mother, but I loved seeing her come into her own through Shep's guidance. I thought the cast of supporting characters were interesting, and I especially wanted to see Sassy get her own story! The one thing I hated about this was that while it was a complete story, it did not fill the whole book. The story itself was finished at 77% and the rest was filled with excerpts and reading orders for the author's other works. Definitely interested in reading more of the series!” A great 4 star read!
Mari Carr ― Blank Canvas(Big Easy #1) Having read Ms. Carr's work before, I approached this final story almost eagerly! It was a well done story overall, but I kept feeling as though something was missing. It also felt a little rushed to me, when I'm used to a lot more detail from this author. I did like how honest Caliph and Jennifer seemed, both separately and together. I think I will look for more of the series, just to see if what was started in this story is extended into other books. A solid 3 star entry!
This was my first introduction to Jayne Rylon. I thought that Report for Booty was a really cute story. I love how it touches on our wounded warriors and the sacrifices they make for our country. Chavon and Burke are both memorable characters. It was a great start to this Anthro, we were introduced to Shep and Sassy which I hope we see MUCH MUCH more of.
Sidney Bristol Picture Her Bound
HOLY BONDAGE!!! I have never read BDSM before and this was a great intro into the world by an author. I really enjoyed the strength in both the characters and the little mystery we got while these two were “playing”. It made this introduction in Sidney’s new Bayou Bound series fast paced and captivating, I can’t wait to see where this series will go.
Robin L. Rotham Not So Over Eli
I have never read anything by Robin before but I know her name is synonymous with erotica that leaves you hot!! This novella definitely lived up to that reputation. I wanted a little more “story” from this novella but it didn’t lack in the heat at all and I enjoyed the characters.
PG Forte Inked Memories
This is not my first encounter with PG but it is the first time I cried while reading a story. This story was not just about two people rekindling a romance; it’s about overcoming losing apart of you. As a woman I can’t imagine losing my breasts so to read Sophie’s struggle, my heart cried for her. Declan has his one battle within himself that pulls at the heart strings as well. Reading the previous stories in the Anthology I was expecting a hot and steamy read but I was happily surprised to have my heart squeezed in the middle of this Anthro. Thank you PG.
RG Alexander To The Bone
AHHHH!!! This was a very touching story. I really enjoyed watching Etta let go of her violent past and learn how to allow someone to really love her. I felt a little lost with all the characters in this novella but I realized after reading it that it was part of an already ongoing series hence some of my confusion BUT now that I have read it and I am officially intrigued about the world and stories of the other characters, I’m going to go back and read the first 2 books in the series. I really enjoyed this novella.
Eden Bradley Dangerously Inked
This was my first time reading Eden’s work, she definitely knows her Kink and BDSM. I was a little lost with some of the vocabulary only because I don’t read BDSM on a regular basis but Eden showed me that it’s a world of its own. I enjoyed reading about Rosie and finally seeing her get her love story after meeting her in the previous novellas of Midnight Ink. She is a strong character with a story to tell and I didn’t realize how much of a story till now. Finn was a strong character as well and I liked how the Dom showed his softer side with Rosie.
Carrie Ann Ryan Ink Inspired, Montgomery Ink 0.5
I have been a longtime fan of Carrie Ann and I am so happy to be able to read the prequel to her brand new series. Carrie Ann is known for her Paranormal series so to see her in the contemporary romance world is actually really cool. I was hoping to see Shep get his love story and I was happy that I did. Also we got to meet Austin who I am sure will be a man that finds his love story in one of the Montgomery Ink books. Shea and Shep are so cute together and really offset each other in a brilliant way. I wanted to scream I hated Shea’s mother so much and that is how you know you are reading a good story.
Mari Carr Blank Canvas, Big Easy, book one
I really liked this story! I love how the title fits the story perfectly, Jennifer needs a new start and to find her colors, who is more perfect to help her do that than a tattoo artist that loves to turn woman into art with hot wax!! I am definitely adding Mari Carr and this new series to my TBR.
OVERALL, I loved this Midnight Ink!! I am astonished at how well these authors came together and created 8 different stories that all meshed so well together. I loved the ongoing characters throughout all the stores especially Sassy, I really wish she would have gotten her own love story. I love how the coffee in the Deep South is a running storyline in every novella.
Over all I give Midnight Ink 4 ½ out of 5, I loved the range of emotional stories and the different sensitive topics each author touched on.
I LOVED THIS SMOKIN HOT READ!! I loved the opportunity to read some new authors that I wasn't familiar with and then to read some favorite authors as well. All the spinoffs and sequels and prequels have been added to my TBR list!! Cant wait!!
A couple of bum notes in this, but I have to say I really enjoyed what was done here. I loved how the stories all centred on one tattoo parlour, the same theme and the same group of people. I really enjoyed learning about them all in this way.
I was hugely impressed at how they all fit together almost seemlessly. Of course, you get a different style from each different writer but I enjoyed the new voice each of those stories had.
The only inconsistency I noticed was in the last two stories. In Shep's story he says he's been friends with Caliph for a decade and in Caliph's he says six years.
Overall, loved it!
Report for Booty, by Jayne Rylon, 3 stars This started out promisingly and I loved the premise, however, I felt a lot of uneccessary page time went into the build up and not quite enough into the reunion. I didn't like, or believe, how the make-up sex took place before any important conversation. It was a bit trashy and made the I-love-yous insincere. I know this is a short story, but we can't completely suspend belief about the 'I'm sorry' she would have been expecting.
Picture Her Bound, by Sidney Bristol, 1.5 stars This was well written but unfortunately I just didn't like it very much. I thought the suspense element was a bit of a let down in the end and it seemed to wrap up really quickly after such a long build up. I didn't believe the romance between these two, it lacked some real substance.
Not So Over Eli, by Robin L. Rotham, 2 stars An interesting premise here but, to be honest, menage is not really my thing. I don't mind a menage where the primary couple bring in a third every now and again, but I've never read a long term menage that I really believed in. The journey from meeting each other to long term commitment happened in the blink of an eye.
Inked Memories, by PG Forte, 3 stars Another good premise and a well written emotional story. I liked that Declan was a bit of an anti hero, but I didn't fully connect with these characters. For me, the happy ending was a little too rushed.
To The Bone, by RG Alexander, 5 amazing stars!! I loved this one. It's obviously part of a bigger series which I definitely have to get my sweaty little mitts on asap! This was sweet, sexy, romantic and a little bit magical with its mysterious Bayou flavour. This gave me exactly what I've been looking for - a short, well paced, love story with real feeling.
EDIT Apparently I won't be buying any RG Alexander because they are £8.95 on kindle. Not on your life!
Dangerously Inked, by Eden Bradley, 5 sexy stars!! Wow! This was amazing. I loved the characters, loved the D/s, loved the progression and natural connection between them. I am definitely going to search out some more Eden Bradley/Eve Berlin. She's hung around in my wish list for years but now I can't wait to read more of her work.
Ink Inspired, by Carrie Ann Ryan, 3.5 stars I really liked this but the vitriolic mother was way too unpleasant to read about and I had to skip those parts. She was too pantomime. I was disappointed that Shea didn't have more backbone and, whilst Shep was incredibly sexy, why the hell was he given a dogs name? It really messed with my head!
Blank Canvas, by Mari Carr, 5 fabulous stars!! I had high hopes for this, because I'm a fan of Mari Carr, and I was not disappointed. This was intense, sweet, sexy, romantic, sexy, emotional, hopeful, did I say sexy? Caliph was just amazing and I loved Jen's resilience. Good for her, picking her self up, moving on a snagging a great big tattooed sex god.
I have to admit that going into this anthology knowing that the stories were all set in & around the one tattoo shop I wasn't quite sure how well the stories would all work together but believe me, it couldn't have been better!!! The stories flowed seamlessly and all gelled together to give us a really fantastic hot, sexy and fun read... ;-)
I absolutely adored all of the characters ~ though Shep, Rosie, Finn & Caliph were real hits for me.... and Sassy really steals the show - can't wait for that little firecracker to get her own story!!
A couple of stories in particular grabbed me slightly more than the others but they were all fabulous reads!!!
As for the stories:
Jayne Rylon ~ Report For Booty Burke & Chavon's story was really good and it made want to shout, slap someone, cheer and it did make me cry a little. Hot, sweet and sexy!!
Sidney Bristol ~ Picture Her Bound (Bayou Bound) I loved this story... Action, a bit of intrigue and smoking hot chemistry between Odalia & the big alpha Bounty Hunter!
Robin L. Rotham ~ Not So Over Eli This was one HOT story... knew how I wanted it to turn out and was thinking it might but Robin kept us kinda guessing.... Really enjoyed reading Bart, Rhonda & Elijah's tale.
PG Forte ~ Inked Memories Sophie & Declan were fab to read!! Hot, they were kinda frustrating at times but this was definitely a fave!
RG Alexander ~ To The Bone (A novella in the Bone Daddy series) Man oh man... Etta & Christie - I loved their story... My heart broke for Etta but Christie was a determined bugger... I adored that about him! Little bit of a twist in the tale which I really liked!
Eden Bradley ~ Dangerously Inked (A novella in the Dangerous series) OMG..... Finn & Rosie... Jeez, this pair are HOTHOTHOT.. Really enjoyed their story and the emotions it pulled on!!!
Carrie Ann Ryan ~ Ink Inspired (Montgomery Ink 0.5) I'm a big fan of Carrie Ann and I've been looking forward to this prequel to her Montgomery Ink series and it was worth the wait!!! In this story we meet Ice Princess Shea & hot, sexy Shep Montgomery - he's out to melt the walls she's built around herself and in the process they set the place alight!!! Another of my faves from the anthology and can't wait to read more about the Montgomery's
Mari Carr ~ Blank Canvas (Big Easy, book one) Disillusioned by divorce, Jennifer's life needs a change of direction and it seems that Caliph may just be the man for the job. Good gods, this guy.... he is just so...... This is a hot, erotic, fabulous story!!!
Midnight Ink introduced me to a couple of authors that I hadn't checked out before but they have definitely caught my attention now and this won't be the last time I read any of their work...
A solid 5* read for me that I have no hesitation in recommending!!!!!
Every book included was well written and edited. Each story is a novella around 100 pages or less.
What makes this collection of stories stand apart from the many other anthologies I've read is that all the stories are wound together around New Orleans and a tattoo parlor named Midnight Ink, including scenes with the staff of midnight ink. The level of continuity and consistency all these authors were able to maintain, from one story to the next, is astounding.

This anthology was AWESOME!!! I wound up getting each book as the authors were finishing them for review so I read them all out of order and it didn't matter a bit. The books all tied so well to each other. The character Sassy was so much fun, but don't get your hopes up because she isn't getting her own story. :( Trust me I already begged. lol Each book made me laugh, cry, get horny, or just sigh like a love-struck puppy. This is by far one of the best anthos I've read. All the books are new (not previously published) and some are even going to start or are part of series books for the authors. The heat levels range on this one but there are some super hot ones mixed in so be prepared with a cold glass of water or a useful person or tool nearby. I can't wait to read them all over again when I get the print book!! Drop everything and read Midnight Ink now!!
“Midnight Ink” Box set was a wonderful set filled with wicked awesome stories. I loved how the authors (Jayne Rylon, Mari Carr, Carrie Ann Ryan, R.G. Alexander PG Forte, Eden Bradley, Robin L. Rotham, and Sidney Bristol) all included Sassy into the stories so that they all related to each other. In addition I really loved where the story was set. The authors just made me want to go to New Orleans even more than before. I can honestly say that I was so glad that I purchased the box set since the authors rocked my world. All of the stories had the sexy alpha males with woman who could match them. I would love to tell you that I had a favorite story but I truly loved them all. From this readers point, I think that those who love hot, sexual intense books would be missing out if they did not get it. Thanks to the wonderful authors for allowing me to enjoy their books. You all totally rock.
This collection of eight brand-new stories, all tied to its namesake tattoo shop in New Orleans will make you laugh, cry, want to grab your lover, and leave you totally satisfied.
Each story can be read independently of the others, but reading the entire collection immerses you in the heady, passionate world of Midnight Ink, and why wouldn't you want to be there?
RG Alexander, Jayne Rylon, Mari Carr, Carrie Ann Ryan, PG Forte, Eden Bradley, Robin L Rotham, and Sidney Bristol bring their considerable writing talents to bear in this--each story is well crafted, with characters that grab you and don't let go. The stories run the gamut, from reunited lovers to couples newly formed, from cops to tattoo artists, and BDSM and beyond.
Rarely will I read an anthology and enjoy every story--this is one of those gems where I loved each one. And I plan to keep this one to re-read. This set is a winner--don't miss it!
I'm familiar with several of the authors in this anthology, but I was introduced to some new ones. Every single one of the stories was worth buying this one. My absolute favorite aspect of this collection was the incorporation of secondary characters and the seamless way the books flowed together. I was already a huge fan of Robin Rotham, R.G. Alexander, Sidney Bristol and Eden Bradley. Their offerings alone would have made this book a keeper. But ALL the authors created fabulous stories, memorable characters and hot hot hot scenes. I have to say to pick favorites, Jacques from Sidney Bristol's story and Finn from Eden Bradley's novella were my favorites. But from the first page to the last, I was immersed in the New Orleans culture and fascinated by the tattoos. I got this sucker for only $0.99!!!!!!!!!! I feel like Christmas came early.
Fantastic read. Every story captured me completely and held me fast until the end. While as always with these authors the sexual tension and heat in the scenes they write leaves the reader begging for more, there was also the occational stary that left tears in my eyes. I am not one to usual tear up at books but there was no stopping it during one of the stories. Loved this book and wish it could never end. Love Midnight Ink and hope that these character that have been created during this joint work of theirs will show up again so time as there was one character that never got her story and i would love to hear it. Give Sassy her HEA lol
Just like with many anthologies there were some good stories, some meh and a few I didn't like. But there were also a few that just seemed to be really good but didn't have enough time to develop into anything more than an okay story. A few also had some deep issues that just kinda got glossed over and really should have been given more time to develop because they just seemed to lose a lot of meaning by just being so short.
What I loved about this anthology was that each story followed the next in such a seamless way, that you could be forgiven for thinking it was a novel, not eight different stories and authors. Although each story could be read and enjoyed on its own, without reading the others, this is definitely a case of 'the whole is greater than the sum of its parts'.
OMG, what an awesome group of books by an awesome group of authors. The stories revolve around a tattoo shop in New Orleans but that is all they have in common. Each author brings their own unique flair and it blends absolutely wonderfully. It is definitely a must read in my book.
A lovely little selection of short stories with a bit of kinky, steamy sex, all set in or around Midnight Ink, a tattoo shop in New Orleans around the Christmas/ New Year period.
Report for Booty sees two old lovers reconnecting after years apart - really enjoyed this one with the whole tattooing each other's names on their bottoms and the military elements.
Picture her Bound sees a dom bounty hunter and sub police officer working together to find the thief who stole the camera and images from their photo shoot. They end up finding a lot more. - I really enjoyed this one. The author managed to get a lot of realism and complexities in the character development.
Not so over Eli follows a newly engaged couple as they head to New Orleans and Midnight Ink to find out if Bart's feelings for Eli are still reciprocated and what they're going to do about it. A nice tale of being willing to go all in and give it all up for the one you love, doing anything to ensure their happiness, though thankfully three is the magic number. - Really enjoyed the connections and humour between everyone.
Inked Memories is a tale of reconnecting again but this time it is Sophie who has gone through the wars and both she and Declan must see if being older has made them wiser and able to find their happy ending at last.
To the Bone follows Etta as she seeks to erase/ heal the scars from her past and her meeting with Christie, new owner of MI and musician, gives her the courage to work through them and discover who she is now and what they can have together. - this one has made me want to read the series and learn more about the Bone Daddy and those elements, see more of some of the characters. I found those aspects interesting, though the romance is enough on its own.
Dangerously Inked is a bit darker than I normally go for with more S+M elements but I really enjoyed it, probably because regardless of the kink, it's about people and Finn and Rosie were interesting.
Ink Inspired - Shea and Shep as already reviewed, a fab start to the Montgomery Ink series which I've read and enjoyed.
Blank Canvas is probably one of my favourites from this collection as it follows Jennifer as she gets a tattoo from Caliph to begin her new single life and takes a walk on the wild side with him in a bid to discover what she's been missing and who she is. And what a wild and wonderful ride it is!
You can’t find anything better than eight brilliant authors getting together and bringing us some award HOT, tattooed, Alpha males, some kick ass women all centered in the sin city of New Orleans. This compilation of hot arousing stories went even beyond that, deeper, each one hitting something that was so much more than the hot amazing sex. Midnight Ink is a tattoo haven these authors have written so well that you can hear the buzz of the needle and feel it flowing over your skin as they show their artistic talents. The stories outside of Midnight Ink are just as strong and captivating; for me that made them even more amazing.
REPORT FOR BOOTY by Jayne Rylon Jayne Rylon could not have touched on a subject that was closer to me than the military. I feel when you connect with the characters it makes the story stronger for the reader and that is exactly what Jayne was able to do here. In just a short amount of time she managed to break me and then put me back together. I love the stories of second chances but what Burke and Chavon had to go through to get there was anything but short of heart wrenching and amazing. You amaze me Jayne, as a military wife I want to Thank You for this story.
PICTURE HER BOUND by Sidney Bristol First, this is my first read by Sidney Bristol and OMG!! I don’t know why I haven’t read her books yet but this author can write and write some Awesomeness!!! This is the first that also steps outside of Midnight Ink and introduces you to The Bastille an exclusive dungeon. Let me tell you Ms. Bristol knows how to write a Dom. Jacques Savoy, Bounty Hunter and photographer, takes his promises and protection very seriously. The tough as nails cop Odalia Foucheaux is a very private person when it comes to her submissive lifestyle. When that’s threatened Jacques will do nothing to keep his promise and much more. This is just the beginning, look for more of these two in her Bayou Bound series and I have to say I am EXCITED!
NOT SO OVER ELI by Robin L. Rotham I am a fan of MMF, MFM and Robin L. Rotham has NEVER disappointed when it comes to writing this genre. So if this is your first foray into it trust me she writes these scenes with such emotion you feel them coming off the pages. First love, new love, second chance love all rolled into one. This story is about discovery and being true to one’s self. I loved the selflessness in Rhonda, the dedication in Bart and the passion in Eli combine all these together it makes for an explosion that makes your heart pound and have you searching for more.
INKED MEMORIES by PG Forte My heart was ripped out with this one, so have the tissues ready. PG Forte definitely knows how to pull out all the stops when it comes to impacting your emotions. You could feel the loss that Sophie suffers not just physically but mentally. What she went through, her strength as well as her endurance to fight and move forward. Declan Ross maybe a TV star on the outside but the demons he carries on the inside are clawing at him. Ms. Forte brings two people together after five years and shows that sometimes the healing can begin on the outside. This was also a subject that touched me deeply. Ms. Forte wrote it with such care and grace showing how tattoos can do so much more than people realize. Tattoos are looked down on so often that Sophie’s story gives such a beautiful light to them.
TO THE BONE by R.G. Alexander R.G. Alexander knows how to put a twist into her story. I have to say there were things I didn’t see coming even for this being in New Orleans. I loved that she kept me on my toes and guessing with each turn of the page. Etta Santos had been through more than any women should be when she meets Christie Ryder, owner of Midnight Ink. He’s every girls dream, tattooed bad-boy with a voice of an angle. Brought together by circumstance or fate, Etta must find trust and Christie must find change before they can find each other. Ms. Alexander weaves more into this than meets the eye and to know that there’s more to come in the Bone Daddy series only makes it all the more sweeter!
DANGEROUSLY INKED by Eden Bradley Eden Bradley takes the world of BDSM to such a high level in the start of her Dangerous Series. You could feel the pulsing atmosphere of The Bastille dungeon the smells, the sounds, Ms. Bradley puts you there without you realizing it. Heart pounding with each turn of the page she give you a Dom, Finn, he is magnetic, powerful and every bit as commanding. Roison is independent, a submissive and doesn’t do anything easily. When these two come together to play Eden Bradley leaves nothing to the imagination. The extreme intensity is more than I can put into words but I will say that nothing is left to the imagination.
INK INSPIRED by Carrie Ann Ryan Discovering who you really are is never easy yet Shea Little is determined to do just that. Starting with a tattoo is the first thing on her list yet when the hulk of a tattoo artist turns her down she is embarrassed more than anything. Shep Montgomery knows when someone is making a mistake and he wants to know the reason why Shea wants a tattoo. I loved the contrast between Shea and Shep, prim and proper meets bad-boy. Carrie Ann Ryan can bring out the sexy in proper and let me tell you she makes bad look so freaking good. This is just the taste of her series Montgomery Ink and hell if it isn’t sweet and spicy!!!
BLANK CANVAS by Mari Carr When you’re starting over, moving on you want to take that leap into something new all. Mari Carr knows how to write two people that are perfectly suited for one another. The chemistry between Caliph and Jennifer is strong as what’s hidden in Jennifer. The Dom in Caliph wants to bring that out. Ms. Carr doesn’t tease in this one and for that I am totally gratefully, she makes you feel as if you are in the room, hearing those words, feeling your heart beat out of your chest. Mari Carr has that ability to make you feel like you are in the room wanting to be in that room. Her talent and writing style flow with each page that you don’t realize that you are at the end….until it’s too late, so it’s a darn good thing this is the first book in her Big Easy series!!
I need to mention someone that was important, that was Sassy as the receptionist at Midnight Ink she was a very important part of each story. Her name fit her so well, she was full of sass and attitude and she definitely deserves her own story!
It has been a long time since I have read an anthology that has kept me so engrossed, on edge, emotional and not to mention hot and bothered. I am truly amazed at the work that went into this, each story intertwined and the characters were a part of each other’s lives. These authors together formed an intricate, perfect flow from one book to the next without fault. You will be left craving more and I suggest you hit up each one of these to satisfy the thirst you will now be craving.

I enjoyed this story, about getting back the love of your life. It was hot and sweet.
Picture her Bound- Odalia Foucheaux is an officer and an after-hours fetish model. Also a submissive Jacques Savoy is a bounty hunter and a photographer. Also a dominant. Odalia is modeling for Jacques, taking pictures of her in bondage. Only when they were taking a break, someone broke in and stole the camera with all the pictures on. Jacques is watching out for Odalia, he wants her safe from harm as much as he desires her body, her soul--and her submission. They work together to figure out who took the camera and to stop him.
Story was ok, not really my cup of tea.
Not So Over Eli Bart and Rhonda are engaged, and Bart tells her of Eli. Who Bart left behind and still quite not over. Rhonda is bound and determined to bring the two together again and move on. Hopefully with both men. ;) Bart, Rhonda and Eli work together to have a future together with all three of them.
I really loved this one. It was hot, erotic, but also very sweet and romantic with Bart keeping his new love and also getting his old love, and that they want each other as well.
Inked Memories Sophie decides to get a tattoo commemorate her battle with cancer. But she almost backs out until she learns who is back in town---Declan Ross who she was the best of friends with and who used to rock her world---and she goes ahead with getting the tattoo. Declan and Sophie reconnect after all these years. They both have scars that run deep that can't be covered up by a tattoo. But they have each other to get through life together.
This one was a good one. It reminds us that life is a guarantee and that it is short. You should take risks and live in the moment.
To The Bone Etta Santos has only one resolution this year and that is to cover up evidence from her painful past. But the problem is she has a phobia of needles after what happened the last time. Christie Ryder is a sexy musician and the new owner of Midnight Ink. When he see Etta outside of the shop he can't help but pursue her when she goes in to get a tattoo. He plays his guitar and sings while he waits and it seems to soothe Etta's nerves while she is getting the tattoo. Etta seems to think he is too good to be true, and not sure she should risk trusting another man. But Christie is as he presents himself. A romantic bad boy who wants nothing more then to be with Etta for the rest of his life. With a little help from some voodoo spirits she accepts and return Christi's love.
I enjoyed reading this one. I loved that the bad boy is a romantic.
Dangerously Inked When the tattoo artist Finn Carter lined up for his visit to New Orleans turns out to be the mysteriously alluring sub he played on New Year's Eve at The Bastille, the city's BDSM club, more than his skin will be marked forever--and Rosie is just the woman to bring this playboy to his knees.
This was intense. It was good though.
Ink Inspired Shea Little has always done what her family wanted her to but then she wised up and went after things she wanted. Now she is going to Midnight Ink and getting a tattoo. But one big problem stands in her way. Shep Montgomery. Shep is looking for inspiration and he finds it when Shea walks in the shop. Shep melts the ice around Shea and finds a fiery woman who bursting to be free. Once he frees her, he isn't going to let her go.
I love Carrie Ann Ryan's books. They are always more then what you expect. And Ink Inspired is everything I could want to read and more. I absolutely loved this novella and the characters. It is great and I am looking forward to Delicate Ink, can't wait.
Blank Canvas Jennifer is recently divorced and she is going to live her life more colorful. Starting with a tattoo by Caliph. And then having a one weekend stand with him that includes some intense sex that brings her out even more. Caliph starting the weekend with Jennifer as a one time deal but as he got know her better and sees how much she fits him, in his bed, life and DOM/SUB. He wants to try a relationship with her.
This was really intense but oh so HOT. I loved it.
Midnight Ink - Boxed set was filled with ink, hot bad ass guys, intense and hot sex and the beginning of a future with each couple. I enjoyed reading this boxed set and I look forward to more from the individual series.
Nice collection of novellas, all centered around the Midnight Ink tattoo shop. Some were really hot too! I definitely need to check a couple of these authors.
Report For Booty by Jayne Rylon - Almost three years ago a quirky woman with a love for tattoo’s, piercings and colored hair was in love with a man who was in the military. She thought he was the one, but when he got his orders to deploy he broke her heart by breaking up with her before leaving because he didnt want her to grieve over him if something happened to him. Fast forward 3 years and a tattoo shop becomes that catalyst that brings these two back together.
Picture Her Bound by Sidney Bristol – A Cajun Dom… need I say more?? Odalia Foucheaux is a police officer in New Orleans. She also has a kinky side she hides. She’s a submissive who also models for photographers usually of the tattoo variety. When she agrees to pose for BDSM pics for a Dom, she had no idea her life would be turned upside down by both the shoot and the camera being stolen. Jacques Savoy is a bounty hunter but also a Dom. He has seen Odalia in the clubs and has always wanted to photograph her. What he didn’t count on what the strong attraction he felt for her and his need to have her submission and protect her. As these two are trying to figure out who stole the pictures they embark in plenty of BDSM play. This was one smoking story and the start of a new series.
Not So Over Eli by Robin L. Rotham – Whew chere, another hot one. Rhonda Giannetti and her fiancé Bart Rigger are both Paramedics in Chicago. Rhonda loves Bart but has never forgotten his confession to her of the man he was with in college. She has a nagging feeling that there are unresolved feelings there. She decides that they should take a trip to New Orleans for her to get a piercing from Elijah Bell, Bart’s former lover, to see if Bart is truly over him. What she didn’t count on was also being very attacted to Eli herself. When its obvious that Bart and Eli are still as attracted to each other as they were all those years ago Rhonda decides to let Bart go to see if he comes back to her. You have to read the story to find out what happens…… (grin)
Inked Memories by PG Forte – I think we’ve all seen the picture that went around on FB about the woman that had a double mastectomy and had a tattoo done across her chest. This could be that story. It’s heartbreaking not only in the sense of how a woman feels after losing a part of herself but also the hero was the last living member in his family after losing everyone in Katrina including his twin brother. Bring a box of tissue for this one.
To The Bone by RG Alexander The new owner of Midnight Ink (the Tattoo show featured in all the books) is at a crossroads in his life. Up until this point he was in band since high school but got burnt out on the scene, even though music is still his passion and he is never without his guitar strapped to his back. When he sees a woman looking very nervous to go into the tattoo shop he is instantly smitten and sees her as his muse to start writing again. It turns out the woman is Etta Santos who used to have a crush on him in high school. She left New Orleans and is back on vacation looking to put some of her painful past behind her, but she cannot believe that Christopher Ryder is interested in her. Christopher is ready to finally commit to one woman but the woman he had chosen even though she is still fascinated with him hasn’t let go of her baggage enough to totally trust him not matter how sincere he is.
Dangerously Inked by Eden Bradley (review to come)
I am always torn with these multi anthology collections. I am intrigued, and yet I am skeptical that they are gonna be something I will like. Really the ultimate determining factor is the very low price. A buck and I get to read authors stories I might not otherwise give a chance, and I get to read authors stories that I have already enjoyed their books. So really kind of a win, win.
Report for Booty by Jayne Rylon:
I sit on the fence on this one. I like the idea of the story. I really didn't care for Chavon. I am married to a retired Marine. I have seen a lot of relationship failures in all the years. It is a struggle to make relationship work in the military. This one would have definitely said fail to me. When my husband was deployed (even when we dated) I worried about his safety constantly. Luckily in today's technology you don't have to go months without hearing if they are doing ok. I guess I think if Chavon felt Burke was the love of her life, how she could possibly go YEARS without making sure he was ok. Which apparently he wasn't. It wouldn't have been that difficult to check on him. Assuming that they weren't just bed buddies she would have to know someone from his unit that she could check with, even another wife. I realize it was a short story. I also realize it set up the whole plot. It was a decent story. I give it 3 stars.
Picture Her Bound by Sidney Bristol
I am skipping this for now. It really isn't my cuppa. I may give it a chance later on. But the story line just doesn't sound like my thing.
Not so over Eli by Robin L. Rotham
To quote the book, and as they say down here. Laissez les bons temps rouler! Let the good times roll! I really enjoyed this story. I liked the dynamics of the three. I really like Robin's writing style. I have enjoyed her other books. I like a strong female heroine, but not to the point where she comes across like a guy. Rhonda was done well. Feminine, caring, yet strong. I really liked the contrast between Eli and Bart. It is a mark of a good short story when you really want to know what happened to the characters. Did they make a go of it?
Inked Memories By PG Forte
This was a pretty good story. I liked both Sophie and Declan. Interesting story line about breast cancer. It was really well written. I would definitely read more from PG Forte.
Report For Booty - 3 stars: It was ok. It didn't spark for me. But well written and love how she wrote about a wounded warrior.
Picture Her Bound - 2 stars: It was ok. I love most BDSM but not into the whipping. Story was ok - these are two short to make a good mystery.
Not So Over Eli - 4 stars: Eli's story - I enjoyed this book. Very well written and very sexy. Will definitely read more of this author.
Inked Memories - 5 stars: Declan's story - Loved the story. The author does a great job dealing with the breast cancer story. Very sexy and heartfelt. Will definitely read more of this author.
To The Bone (Bone Daddy #2.5) - 3 stars: Christie's story - I enjoyed this one, but the voodoo part - Sometimes hard to tell if what you are reading is real or just them in voodoo land (or whatever it is suppose to be). But she does a great job with story and very sexy. Definitely thinking about reading the other parts to the story - May try one to see how much of it is the voodoo.
Dangerously Inked (Dangerous 0.5) - 5 stars: Rosie's story - Again not a BDSM whipping fan but this one got me. I guess it just depends on how it is written. Very sexy. Will definitely read more of this author.
Ink Inspired (Montgomery Ink 0.5) - 4 stars: Shep's story - I really liked this one also. Very sexy. Will definitely read more of this author.
Blank Canvas(Big Easy #1) - 5 stars: I loved this book. The story, the sex, and how she pulled it all together. I read this and had to read the next two books immediately - they don't disappoint either! Author is a must to read. Can't wait for the next installment.
OVERALL, I loved this Midnight Ink!! This is what anthologies should be. I love how well these authors came together and created their stories that all meshed so well together and pulled from each others stories. I loved the ongoing characters in all the stories. Sassy was my favorite - I really wish she would had her own love story - maybe coming up. Of course I wish that most of them would have been longer to give them absolute justice, but they are short stories. And I would love for those stories to be continued! Maybe Mari Carr will update us on the characters as she continues her series.
