While the world of paint and analytical chemistry consumes her day time, Kimberly’s true passions lie with her love of the arts. Finding the beauty in music, art, fiction, and poetry is something that eases the stress of the 9 to 5.
In addition to her poetic vices, Kimberly is a loving wife and mother of two awesomesauce little boys. Weekends filled with hockey rinks, swimming pools, and backyard fun are some of the inspiration to her prose.
But don’t be fooled – this semi-nerdy, hockey mom has a much deeper, risqué, and (dare we say) naughty side. Her collection, more., is her first attempt at exposing the writing community she has come to know and love to her talent and love for poetry.
Whoever says that anyone can write poetry, has clearly never tried it. Poetry is when the soul meets the heart. It's elegance and joy and sorrow. It's a timeless symphony of peace. more. is all that and more. There is so much woven into every sentence and every page will steal your breath and stir your emotions. Ms. Hart has captured so much beauty into a single book it will leave you amazed. I know I'm certainly hoping she continues doing what so clearly comes naturally to her.
My first review of a collection of poetry this shall be interesting :)
Song Choice: "Misguided Ghost" by Paramore, "Breathe Me" by Sia, "maps" by Yeah Yeah Yeahs, "Fall Into the Sky (featuring Ellie Goulding)" by Zedd & Lucky Date, "Crazy" Cover by Melanie Martinez, "Pursuit of Happiness" Cover by Lissie
First thoughts: Even if you aren't an avid poetry reader *cough cough like me cough* for reals the only poetry i really read has been for my English classes. If you are looking for contemporary poetry that you will both connect with, and relish, you will LOVE, Kimberly Hart's collection for more.
So since this isn't a novel this is going to be a a little different ;)
The collection:
Okay so I thought it had an amazing mixture of this lighthearted fun times, things like the LOL (sorry can’t remember the exact title), and a few others, but there were these wonderful moments of motherhood, I felt close to the author, to the idea of motherhood, and what it really means. I think that the author really bared her soul to the readers and really showed us.
There was also holy hotness, parts that I was thinking to myself… well hot damn. This was explosive, heartbreaking, and utterly beautiful.
Never in my life had I felt such longing to submerge myself into words <3
There was (pardon the pun but not really because i love puns) more to this poetry collection than trying to dissect every little detail wondering why we are using this verses that, this is poetry that you can submerge yourself in, lose yourself for a moment or two. Really disappear into the words and the actions.
It wasn't just one type of poetry, there was so much here and I think there a little something for everyone. There was humor, there were tears, and there most definitely was steam ;).
This collection I think will totally knock your socks off.
More is the debut poetry collection from debut author Kimberley Hart, and boy is it a stunner! Throughout the book you are dragged through a torrent of emotions, from joy, dispair, heartache... its like you've been thrown around in the washing machine! Honestly, get your tissues ready with this one, because i came out the other side an emotional wreck! Ms Hart's writing is excellent. I don't have much more to say about this, just that More. is a damn good piece of art and i want MORE! I recommend it! 5/5 stars
Growing up I use to see several night stands with inspirational books lying on them. This book as well, will be a perfect to leave on there. After each full day we are always harboring some kind of emotion with us to the bed. I assure you that there is something is this book that will help you validate your feelings, help you to become whole again, make you shed a tear, or just offer you a smile. This is a book will be the ideal read each time you need some inspiration. It will also make a treasured gift to send someone for a special day.
Kimberly writes some very intense poetry. Several of them you can picture different scenes playing out and some only leave one conclusion. They are very well written in the form of a true artist. I could relate to several of them. A lot of them seem to be about pain, love, or loss in some form. And that is something everyone can relate to. Others are very heated. Overall a great job by the author!
I give awe to author Kimberly for putting herself out there for all of us to read her deep feelings..I really hope she sticks to this. I have never read poetry other than being forced in school and have to say I for sure would read more by her.
