I have always wanted to try naturism and in August 2012 I got my wish as my terrified wife and excited kids joined me as we went to a naturist resort in southern France for a few days. This book offers a light-hearted look at our first family holiday in five years, when I persuaded them to try naturism for the first time. The book is short - around an hour of reading - and details everything from when I first decided naturism appealed to me, to my thoughts after the holiday.
John goes on holiday to a naturist site in France with his wife and two children. Read how he enjoys going bare.
I enjoyed reading this jolly holiday tale. The writing and attitudes are very British, it is not rude and very much man-in-the-street. It only runs to 59 pages and is easy reading, bright and light hearted with a good humour.
I was a little confused as John writes…
This piece of work is fiction I decided to write this book before I left the UK. I am a member of the Macclesfield Creative Writing Group
… yet the Goodreads page puts this book in the Nonfiction genre.
I found Going Bare! To be a GOOD 4 star fun and entertaining read and appears to be a true recollection of a good family holiday.
This low-key and readable account of an English writer's first vacation to a nudist (or "naturist", in British usage) resort in France is entertaining but not salacious. A lifelong comfort with his own nudity moves to the next stage when he wins over his wife to go, along with their small children, to an environment where their bodies are not a topic of concern, fear or outrage.
If you are born and raised or been nudist/Naturist for some time or thinking of becoming one then this book is a must-read. It is well written and based on a true story that is both interesting and well explained with the challenges naturist/nudist have in everyday life. It handles body question in a way that many people can relate or been in but also makes one ask the question why we humans do as we do and feel the way we feel
