Margaret Daley has a good plot and characters here, and her writing has a nice pace. The length of the book doesn't allow for a lot of development, but this is still a good read.
Roxie wants to learn about her heritage since she was given up for adoption at birth. Unusual circumstances lead her to finding who her mother is and she goes to visit for the summer. Not telling carol who she is, Roxie works at her restaurant for the summer. The only available place for her to live is in a cabin on Carol's brother-in-laws ranch. Roxie and Alex get close real fast bust she can't let anything happen between them until Carol knows who she is.
