Starting from the previous book, the heroine Izumiko gets jealous of the 'goddess' for her closeness with the male lead, because the 'goddess' got to hold hands with the young man and going on a 'date' with him, whilst Izumiko herself still hasn't had any chance to experience these! LOL
I found her reaction kind of cute. LOL
Thoughts after reading:
Okay, let's be honest here: Red Data Girl contents plenty of things that I usually don't like in Young Adult novels:
A heroine who is shy and uncertain of herself, who also thinks she is plain and ordinary but really isn't? Check.
Despite describing herself as 'unremarkable', the heroine still manages to get the male lead to follow her around, and two other boys () being fond of her, and most of the men and boys in the story like her in general? Check.
Said 'ordinary' girl also turns out to be 'special' and powerful? Check.
Despite all these cliches, the careful writing, the urban fantasy setting and the reference of Japanese myths and religions still hold my interest for five books.
I also am not very fond of the 'school festival' setting in this book (I'm so fed up by all these overused school festivals setting), still the story offers some interesting developments. I'm looking forward to read the 6th and final book of the series.
This volume is my favorite volume among the series. It’s more fast-paced than previous volumes. MC has finally become less timid. She is getting complimented for being cute or graceful from time to time. But I really wish that MC is not just an ugly duckling, but really just a plain-looking girl, and be comfortable with herself despite being unattractive.
