Tess Grady doesn’t do playboy cowboys and as far as she’s concerned that’s exactly what Gage McBride is. Tess wants steady, stable, and secure in a man and Gage seems to be the farthest thing from that.
Gage has been waiting for the right woman, and he’s sure Tess is the one. He’s not the “cowboy with a woman in every town” that Tess believes he is and he intends to prove it to her.
Tess starts to fall for the sexy cowboy when things go desperately wrong. Harvey Norton, a man from Gage’s past is seeking revenge. Not only did Gage help to put Harvey behind bars for embezzling, but Tess, the woman Harvey is attracted to, seems to be falling for Gage. Gage’s life is in danger and soon Tess’s is, too. Gage must save Tess while at the same time trying to stay alive.
Cheyenne McCray fell in love with reading and writing early, deciding in kindergarten that one day she would become an author. Today, she is an award-winning New York Times and USA Today bestselling fiction author who’s sold millions of books worldwide. Having published more than 100 novels and novellas in contemporary and paranormal romance, urban fantasy and romantic suspense, she is now also writing cozy mysteries as Deb Ries.
Chey grew up on a ranch in southeastern Arizona and delights in creating stories of suspense, love, and redemption with characters and worlds her readers can get lost in. Chey and her equally geeky husband live with their two dogs, six ducks (the neighborhood celebrities), and a small flock of chickens in a small Arizona town where she enjoys gardening, crazy quilting and, of course, writing.
Ooo, this was a bit dark near the ending, but the villain got his comeuppance. Love the cowboy family in this series - all smart and sexy. Great characters. Easy reading, but sometimes dark. I couldn't read it quick enough though. 4☆
Tess Grady has an admirer .. or two. One is Gage McBride, tall, handsome and a smile that just won't quit. Tess' husband died several years ago and she just hasn't been interested in another relationship, although Tess does confess to herself that Gage gets her engine humming right along.
Harvey is another admirer ... a man who has spent time in prison. Gage is the man responsible. He wants Tess and she has made it very clear that she is not interested.
When Tess and Gage do grow closer and more intimate, Harvey goes a bit berserk. He hires someone to kill Gage and he makes plans to make Tess his and only his.
Not a lot of mystery, but the action is quite well-done. The reader knows there is going to be a happy ending, but you really have to battle to get there.
This is the 3rd of the "Cowboy" series. I have found them all to be entertaining and the characters stronger than they think they are. And I confess ... I love happy endings.
Getting the narration out of the way again he just sounds too old for these characters but I digress.
Tess’s story will freak you out. I mean anything to do with stoking and kidnapping freaks me out. I am glad how their story played out it, the series is getting better with each book.
I liked how Gage gave Tess the time she needed to be ok with him. Even though he is a ladies’ man. He showed that she was special to him.
WARNING: this book contains gross references to mental health issues as jokes (specifically Bipolar Disorder) and also a total disregard for sexual consent. Before safe words or consent are established she says NO and the hero keeps going.
And it's edited horribly (or probably not at all). Filled with grammatical, spelling, and continuity errors.
3.5 RATING- Sexier than book two, this book had a suspense plot line that was a bit over the top but enjoyable. I love a hero that doesn't give up on the lady he wants and this one doesn't. These McBride men are all kind of yummy (although this one wasn't a cowboy- he wore a cowboy hat, ha). On to the next one...

GOOD THING THIS BOOK COVER IS ON MY KINDLE. I THINK IF I TOUCHED IT, MAYBE IT WOULD BURN MY FINGERS. SSSSSOOOOO! HOTTTTT! THE STORY INSIDE IS JUST AS H.O.T. AN ALPHA MALE WHO IS JUST TOO YUMMY. IT'S A VERY GOOD LOVE STORY I LAUGHED, CRIED SOME, GOT ANGRY, YOU KNOW IT'S ROMANCE THAT'S WHAT I EXPECT. REALLY LOVED THIS BOOK. STORY WAS VERY WELL WRITTEN. OH! DID I MENTION THE COVER? WOW!
Really liked this story and loved Gage, sigh. The only reason why I didn't give this 5 stars was because the ending was too rushed. More time and info could have been spent on it and what happened to the bad guy?
Cheyenne McCray gave us Gage McBride in this story, the brother with a playboy reputation, trying to get the attention of Tess. Tess is not looking for a boyfriend, and she certainly is not going to start dating a man like hm, no matter how charming he is. Tess is a widow with a young daughter and is not getting caught up in a relationship just to get her heart broken. But Gage wears her down, and the two begin to date, Tess changes her job, and life is good. Until Harvey, a man from Gage's past sets his sights on Tess and revenge on Gage. McCray has built a story where the couple both have difficult pasts, and find it hard to trust. There is much to overcome, plus Tess has her daughter to take into consideration. Adding the suspense factor of Harvey(and he is a character you will love to hate) is a great plot twist, and there is a period where the outcome is not clear. This makes the book that much more enjoyable for me, I love that sense of not knowing how things will turn out, when will Harvey turn up, and what does he have in store for these two. It's a fun listen(and hot!) and a wonderful addition to the Riding Tall series. We even get a glimpse of Gage's brothers which is always makes stories feel so very homey and comfortable.
David Quimby continues his narration of this series, bringing his western style to the narration. David has a very calming voice, and easily distinguishable characters which I love to listen to. He brings that feeling of home and really ramps it up during the suspense!
Oh, My Goodness! Downtown Prescott was a 50-minute drive from my home. Speaking of the Bradshaw Mountains, they were in my front yard when I lived in Black Canyon City from 2000 to 2008.
As I read this book, I was thinking of all the places mentioned in Prescott and the desolate areas in the mountains anyone could hide and never be found.
I was thinking the worse when Harvey kidnapped Tess and the possibility of taking advantage of her and she was hidden so well right under their feet.
Gage was brilliant in this story by following Harvey back to the house where he kept Tess against her will, eventually overcoming a very dangerous situation - freeing Tess before any more harm came to her.
I was hoping the story would have continued with Harvey getting arrested and finding the man he had killed and buried out in the desert. But, maybe in Book 4 we will come to the conclusion of this story.
I look forward to reading more of Riding Tall (10 book series) Kindle Edition Enjoy and happy reading everyone.
This was a great great story . Hero is Cage. Heroine is Tess. The author knew how to play both heroine and hero into a hot chemistry. They both have feelings for each other. Hot attraction but Tess thinks Cage is playing with her. Tess sees Cage as a ladies man. Especially when a hot redhead walks into the bar and slaps Cage . Enter Harvey into the story . Harvey just got out of jail . Cage found Harvey embezzling from Cages Company . Cage has money and lots of it. Harvey also used women for money and other things. Abuse was one of them. Harvey asks Tess out playing the lonely man new in town card. Harvey thinks Tess is his. Once Harvey sees that Tess and Cage are an item , Harvey wants to teach Tess a lesson. Does Harvey get the chance or does Cage stop him before he tries
I didn’t learn this was part of a series until after I started listening to this. It reads excellently as a standalone; I would not have known it was a series. I want to check out the rest of the series but because I liked it, not because I need to.
Fencing You In was a great book. I loved the characters, well, almost all of them and the story is written to be a smooth read. There were some parts where I thought “Seriously, can she be that dumb?” but overall it was suspenseful as expected. I have nothing negative to say at all.
I listen to the audio version of Fencing You In, which is narrated by David Quimby and he did an excellent job narrating. He has an “easy on the ears” voice. This makes it a relaxing book to listen too.
This is the first book I've read/listened to by this author. She weaves an excellent story and creates great character. Her writing is quite descriptive and her cowboy is beyond sexy. The story is well balanced between the developing relationship and the suspense plot being introduced. Harvey is a well-developed villain and definitely a twisted character with an axe to grind with Gage. Tess is a widowed single mom who helps in the family bar/restaurant. She isn't looking for a man, though drawn to Gage, she believes his reputation as a ladies' man. She doesn't know the real man, and once she gives him a chance, all bets are off. However, Harvey doesn't want that happening. While the couple gets their HEA it takes a bit of a detour to get them there. I found the story engaging and will definitely read more by this author.
Tess is a widowed, single mom and part owner of a cafe’/bar. She’s a hard working woman and doesn’t have much time for her daughter much less a social life. Gage is a bit of a playboy but is smitten by the feisty bartender...especially when she repeatedly rebuffs his advances. Tess is attracted to Gage but is scared of the way he makes her feel. After a ‘just friends’ drink w a regular at the cafe, Harvey, leaves her feeling nothing, she wonders if she SHOULD give Gage a chance. Unbeknownst to Tess, Harvey has issues and becomes obsessed with her. Will Tess give Gage a chance? Will Harvey hurt Tess? Great, fast paced story with lots of drama and smexy times. Loved the HEA. I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my unbiased review.
Suspense and romance is a great combination, this book has a good mix of this. I love Gage and had a great time getting to know the man behind the ladies man reputation alongside Tess who wins his heart. Their journey to HEA is bumpy and dangerous at times thanks to the psycho from Gage's past. Part of a series, but not having listened to the previous books, I didn't feel that an issue. I will definitely check them out. - 4 stars
What made the story even better is Mr. Quimby's voice. He has a warm voice which he can masterfully change to fit the characters and their emotions. I am a huge fan. - 5 stars
Lessons can be learnt from this book: *We should always listen to our inner voice and that airy feeling we get when something is wrong, *we should tell someone about it. *when you meet someone and they only want to talk about you and not themselves, don't trust them! Tess was silly for not asking for help to get home immediately when she was not feeling well and her friend should not let her go by herself. (2 other lessons) A brilliantly written plot and the narrated in great.
Book three in the Riding Tall series. Gage McBride owns a water company. He also likes spending time at Nectar’s bar when Jess is working. While Gage has a slight reputation we works Jess down to finally going out with him. Another patron of the restaurant also has their eye on Jess. She agreed to a drink one night if he could promise to keep things friends only.
Jess is a widow with a five year old daughter, Jenny. She is attracted to Gage but concerned she will be one more is a line of love ‘em and leave ‘em. Jess has a stalker.
I enjoyed this story. It’s not only romance but has suspense and there is an element of danger for both characters. I enjoyed meeting both characters. Gages job is different than any one I have read before. I know not the main purpose of the story but that still interested me. This is my first book by this author. I listened to this On audio. David Quimby is the narrator. He does a wonderful job.
I loved this book and couldn’t put it down. Loved how Gage kept trying to get Tess to go out with him. They were cute and ended up with such chemistry. But someone else has plans for her. She’s got a stalker and I ended up so on edge towards the end. What a story. But thankfully there’s a very happy ever after. I especially loved that he loves her daughter too. I highly recommend this book.
If you like a great cowboy love story then you will enjoy reading this book 💓 The characters, location and story lines are so fresh and endearing. You are easily drawn into this love story and the characters. It has plenty of heat and danger to.I'm looking forward to reading more about this group of cowboys and the women who capture their hearts that the author has written a wonderful series with each book a standalone story!
I won't be reading any more from this author's series. The two books I read or tried to read have the heroine being stalked, raped, abused, or kidnapped. If your hero can only get the girl if she's been horrifically abused, he's not much of a hero.
Widow, raising her daughter and he's a hot sexy cowboy. They find themselves both in danger from a man who wants revenge on Gage. Some BDSM the right way and some the twisted way.

I really enjoyed this book! I haven’t read the first two books in this series and was able to follow it completely. I will definitely be going back and listening to the first two!
This was an interesting story. I enjoyed the developing characters in the book. Always intrigue, and a happy ending. I highly recommend reading this book.
