It is an excellent reference book. Useful, if your visiting Japan, and don't have time to learn the language.

This is a great resource for beginning to learn Japanese. I would highly recommend it for anyone visiting Japan or planning to live there. This book is very well organized into categories so you can easily find vocabulary. The pages on Japanese culture, domestic life in Japan, and Japanese food are all essential vocabulary for Japan- in fact, you will soon realize that these words often slip into English speech! Photographs of Japanese food are included so you can start getting excited about all the tasty food as you learn the language! A lot of people may be shy to speak English at first, but will be very friendly and warm when they see you make even a small effort to speak Japanese! Following pages of vocabulary, there is a section on understanding Japanese people and culture. It gives a good overview of things you may expect to see and experience, and describes the unique importance certain virtues play in Japanese culture.

The doodles are very 'kawaii'. Also good for a basic 'Nihon-go' learner!
