Some good ideas and helpful advice, but almost half of the book are promotions and previews for more books
I really wanted to like this book since some ideas were very good advice and inspirational, but using half of the book for the actual book, and then the other half to promote and preview other books in the series or collection was totally depressing. Just about the time when you're getting inspired, the real book ends...to be continued in the next book or books...say what? That's so misleading. The author in creating the books like read this half now, and buy more books if you want to find out the rest, isn't giving the readers any credit for having the intelligence and willpower to just say, "no," to shameless scams designed to make them buy more and more books if they want their knowledge, experience, encouragement, or advice to lose weight. I'm over it. I've lost weight time and time again, and built up a lean, muscular body by myself before, without a professional trainer, and I can do it on my own again. All it takes for me personally is common sense, determination, healthy portions of meat, vegetables, and carbs, tons of ice water, adequate vitamins or supplements, and the dedication to burn more calories each day than I consume, which any good piece of exercise equipment can keep track of the calories burnt for comparison. I alternated weightlifting days with cardio days and mixed it up every week by working on different parts of the body to reduce "muscle memory plateaus." I even took one day off each week for muscle repair, and repeated this process each week for as long as I liked to get the body that I wanted. Bodybuilding books often list quantities of health food portions, along with plenty of different exercises to choose from and rotate regularly which body parts to work on each day. I start out easy and stayed within my abilities and comfort zone, and slowly built up to the full workout of a variety of different exercise DVD's. If one push up or sit up was as much as I could do, keeping injuries in mind, I only did whatever I could comfortably do. I knew that I could always increase my speed, reps, or change up my workout as my strength, stamina, and conditioning increased along with my personal comfort level. This worked out well for me personally. The information enclosed in this review is strictly my own opinion and is merely my opinion. I rate this between 2 and 3 stars. It was a quick read. Generally knew the stuff; however, it did get me thinking in more detail about some missing parts to my weight loss plan. For this, I'm grateful. I was thinking of purchasing more of her books. Went to her Facebook page and signed up, read for an hour, wasn't impressed. Thus, I'm not ready for it or I'm too far along in my own program. Decided not to purchase other books written by her at this time.
I'm writing this after reading the second time. The first time was 6 months ago and I just wasn't into it..have made a lot of progress since then, mentally, physically, and now it was the right time.
This book is not really a diet. Instead, it provides you with ways that can help you succeed when you are trying to become healthy. It's nice to read something that tells you additional way to help you succeed on what ever weight loss plan you attempt.
It was okay. I found her Facebook page and will follow her there. I don't like book series written just to get you to buy more. Will see if she's genuine over time. I will revisit this review in the future...
This book covers a lot of the basics of weight loss, motivation, and goals. It has a very positive out look on things, and explains it clearly.
I would say this is a good book, for anyone who is starting out on their first weight loss journey, and need to know the basics. Or, if your like me, and need to get refocussed on it.
I read this book to get an idea of the perspective of a person who wants to lose 100 lbs. I think the author weaves her personal story into many suggestions. This book brings forth tough issues that many people face who are struggling with weight loss.
Only half of this book was actually what the title said it was.
The last half of this book was previews for many other books she wrote and links to Facebook groups or amazon reviews. Not really what I was expecting.
While the author did compile a lot of useful information, it is the same stuff I've found online for years. I don't think I will continue with the series.
