Shoji Gatoh ( 賀東招二), born on July 11, 1971, is a Japanese author from Shiga Prefecture, Japan. He is best known for the creation of the Full Metal Panic! series that included light novels, manga and anime. He is not only an author but also an anime scenarist, for example "The Day of Sagittarius" of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and three episodes of Lucky Star.
3.25/5 A mostly solid adventure that dragged a bit at times but was really hampered by the frustratingly annoying Chidori who was pissing me off each time she was on page.
Sousuke's dogged pursuit finally pays off after he is all healed up and back in fighting shape he finally gets a lead. With the help of new friends and unexpected help from old ones he finally makes it to where Kaname is....only to have her slip by just out of his reach. Kaname is facing her own internal struggle, the struggle with her need to see/be with Sousuke and the inevitable pain and harm that will befall others should he chase after her. At the end of the 9 Kaname finally seems to find her strength and determination to be with Sousuke, even if they have to set the world on fire to do it.
Despite of the new and far more powerful mechanic, the male protagonist still couldn't save our her... But they managed to make an oath which is quite a surprise for me. Even though in the previous books, one can easily identify, Chidori's will in step forward to fight against those that are after her, but when it comes to this, she tends to be afraid of taking a step forward. But in this novel, she finally takes the next step and ....
Barely escaping from SE asia with his life, and having paid too high of a price for a mere shred of information on Kaname's whereabouts, this volume opens with Sosuke undergoing a long and painful recuperation from his injuries. He's not even safe in the hospital though, where assassins from Amalgam find him and force him to go into hiding.
As Sosuke tries to locate any remnants of Mithril while avoiding detection by Amalgam, the remnants of Mithril in the TDD are being constantly harried by Amalgam. Tessa does her best to keep the crew of the TDD safe from harm while trying dealing with a lack of supplies and lack of information on Amalgam.
As #9 in the FMP series, Come Make My Day is exciting to read. Sousuke is back with a new AS model, ARX-8 and this time he's unstoppable, but still can't save Chidori. The final battle is freaking amazing (but not as epic as one at the end of #8, Burning One Man Force, since that time he's totally overpowered while this time his power is overwhelming). Eventually, Chidori made up her mind "Come and save me. I don't mind no matter how much is sacrificed, hundreds, thousands, or millions died I don't mind." Some action of Kallinin & Leonard is not understandable, hope their secrets will be revealed soon.
