A GHOST GRANTED A SECOND CHANCE... Hamish Campbell committed so many sins he'd lost track of them all. The worst? Murdering his brother in a fit of rage. Granted another chance by the god of Shadow, Lord Campbell joins the Shadow Walker brotherhood.
A WOMAN FULL OF LIGHT... Anna Duncan is goodness personified, casting warmth on everyone she encounters. A chance encounter throws everything she knows upside down when she meets a man with haunted eyes. When a murderer sets his sights on Anna, she realizes the line between good and evil isn't black and white but made up of varying shades of gray.
OUT OF DARKNESS, HOPE RISES Though death draws them together, Hamish has too many secrets. If he's not careful those secrets may spell the ruin of humanity and cost him the only woman he's ever truly loved.
I hope you all will forgive Hamish once you read his story. After all, none of us is beyond redemption. Reborn in Shadow is a story of second chances. Of hope. And of finding the one you can't live without.
If you enjoy persnickety gods, supernatural creatures and ghosts with the ability to manifest physical bodies, then Reborn in Shadow is for you. This is the 4th book in the series and may be read stand alone.

Cynthia Luhrs spends her time out on the deck, looking out over the mountains, imagining what if. She writes women’s fiction, time travel romance, contemporary romance, family sagas, paranormal romance, and thrillers. Readers say her books (well not the thrillers, those are gritty) are light-hearted reads to escape reality. She lives in the mountains of North Carolina, has always been a reader, and is overly fond of sparkly flip flops and pretty pens. Though now that she lives in the mountains she’s going to have to find fabulous boots, mittens, and hats!

Ok, I will admit when I read what this book was about I almost didn't read it! I couldn't stand Hamish I honestly believed he had no hope for redemption! He betrayed Colin so deeply! While reading this book I did find out a lot about what led Hamish to do what he did. While I don't agree with it I can understand. This book proved to me that not only can this authors world make your feelings changes but, that with enough love anyone can change. Anna is literally sunshine and goodness! She's the sweetest character I have read about. She find happiness and goodness in everything! She's the perfect woman for Hamish. Unfortunately her pure heart is just what the Day Walkers need to open a portal to let demo in the world. This story was an eye opener. I even contacted the author and to quote her now, There are 3 sides to every story Hamish's, Colin's, and the truth. I won't say I love Hamish now but when it comes to Anna he's a Shadow Warrior that I can respect. I cried during this book we said goodbye to an amazing character and I'm hoping the author finds a way to bring him back to us! I'm dying for the last book in this series! Can't wait! Freaking amazing series!

[Full disclosure: I received a free ebook from the author in exchange for an honest review.]
I honestly didn’t expect to like Hamish. His actions make him an evil, cheating, lying, brother-killing traitor so why on earth would he be brought back from the dead 400 years later to be one of the good guys? And yet Hamish seems to have changed. He really does regret all the actions and events leading up to his murder of Colin. His horrible childhood really doesn’t excuse his actions toward his own brother, but I am definitely more sympathetic toward him than I was before. I feel like I can understand what led to his jealousy of Colin and his affair with Abigail.
The characters in this one were wonderful. Hamish goes through a very powerful personal journey of forgiveness, proving that with a little help no one is beyond redemption. Anna is a little naive and sweet but her refusal to see the bad things in the world reminds me of a friend of mine. Yes, she’s rather naive, but it’s realistically so and her views on humanity do change slightly the more she’s with Hamish. Even if the rest of the novel was awful, Cynthia Luhrs’ characters would be enough reason to read it.
The rest of the novel is not awful, thankfully. I found the plot was much more fast-paced than the previous books in part because of the rising tensions between Shadow Walkers and Day Walkers are reaching the boiling point. Dayne and Thorne are at each others’ throats and we really learn the importance of Draken being introduced in Desired by Shadow. There’s actually a greater, overarching plan for the series rather than just a bunch of vaguely connected romances that end with each book. Cynthia Luhrs ends this one on such a cliffhanger that I can’t wait for Embraced by Shadow.
I love how she also expanded on the world of Shadow Walkers and Day Walkers. We learn a little more about Draken and Fury as well as the fae. It was interesting to see things from Thorne’s point of view as he’s tormented by the apparition he believes is the long-lost love he killed in a jealous rage. I don’t fully understand his reasons for bringing Hamish back but it seems they’ll be fully revealed in the next novel. For now the explanation presented in Reborn in Shadow is satisfying.
If you’ve loved the series so far, you’ll love Reborn in Shadow as well. Hamish will surprise you, I guarantee!
What was that quote I just read about villains? Ah thank you GR's I just found it. “A villain is just a victim whose story hasn't been told.” Och Hamish, how could I hate you now.
Ok Luhrs, my friend. I'm full in now. No turning back. Hamish's story touched me in a way the others did not. There are two sides to every coin, however misinterpreted they may be. Through out this book I have had *vindicated* screaming in the background of my mind. Quite fitting don't you think?
Hamish is absolutely villainized through out the first 3 books, and with damn good reason. I did plenty of fist shaking in his direction believe me. But now, I can't help the sweet spot that he's created inside me.
Hamish's arrogance, mixed with Anna's innocent outlook on life were such a good match. What a great additions to the story so far. I'm not sure whether I can forgive you for Draken...though I have a feeling his tale is not over, and for that reason I am pacified for the time being.
Some of my favourite lines....
'She might be a damsel in distress, but he was no knight. Mayhap a dragon....'
'I think I'm drunk and feeling like I've stepped into a book.'
'He might not need to breathe, but her smell was like oxygen to a suffocating man.'
'He only needed her belief in him. Needed it like the earth needed the sun.'
If I had him talking like this to me, 'not even the gods themselves could keep me from you' either, Hamish ;P
But his admission to Anna did it for me.
'I can no longer hide from my past. 'Tis time to atone for my sins, the things I have done. Otherwise, there can be no peace for me, no solace. My past has haunted my dreams, my every waking moment until I met you. Now, the past is not with me every second of every day. Being with you holds the blackness at bay. I would let all the realms fall rather than lose you. I would destroy them myself if it would keep you safe.' Does that not make your heart quench? So good.
The next in the series can't come fast enough. I want to slap Monroe silly for acting like such an arsehole!

Yes! Let me start by saying I've been reading this series and I can finally say without a doubt that this is what the story was supposed to feel like from the beginning and it is by far the best of them all!! =D
OK, don't hate me if you don't agree with me but the feel of the overall story is so much more polished and I didn't struggle to follow the story line at all. I was completely engaged from start to finish. I could actually relate to the feelings of all the characters and they were all memorable. And our hero Hamish, I was rooting for him from the beginning because he wasn't your typical goody-two shoes, alpha, charming, smoldering hot kind of guy. No, he was a complex, guilt-ridden bad person, with lots of daddy issues, resentments, hatred, and anger, trying to figure out what to do with his second chance. Until he meets his "sunshine" and realizes there may be hope in his world after all. His sunshine is Anna. A girl that seems to be able to see goodness in everyone around her, even after someone tries to kill her several times. Hamish, of course, comes to her rescue and thus, their romance begins. She is indeed a sweet girl. And her sweetness and positive outlook in life doesn't seem forced or out of character. Everything she does seems to be in line with her persona and I just love that about a heroine. Only thing I din't like, well actually two things Also, call me a nitpicker but I wish the Scotsmen would've had a lilt. Colin did. I don't understand why Hamish didn't, specially since he had fairly recently come back and hadn't had much time to adjust his accent. All in all, I will be reading Monroe's story ASAP and the final book because if this one was this good, I cannot wait to see what she has in store in the next one.

Hamish Campbell is much resented second son and considered the spare heir by his parents. Hamish is back in the land of the living again thanks to Thorne as Shadow Walker just like his brother Colin. Hamish is still regarded as unwanted and would not be missed by anyone. Anna Duncan is a person who is so full of sunshine and rainbows outlook on life and in everything she does. Hamish has never been drawn to a woman like Anna before and feels highly protective of her. Hamish is approach by Rawlins to switch sides and join the Day Walkers with Dayne. Hamish considers the proposal deciding to take the opportunity only to discover that Thorne wants him to go undercover. Rawlins takes Hamish to meet Solien, a demon, set on opening the portal between the demon realm to the human realm but they need to find someone just like Anna. Can Hamish go thru with the plan? How will knowing Anna help Hamish? Can Hamish make amends with his brother? Can Hamish protect Anna? Your answers await you in Reborn in Shadow.
This is fourth installment in the series that keeps getting better with each book. Ms. Luhrs has created an interesting and fascinating world filled with light and dark. I've often wondered if I would be seeing Hamish featured more in the series as lead character versus secondary character in the background. Ms. Luhrs didn't disappoint when telling Hamish's story either. I now have both pieces of the story from Colin's and Hamish's perspectives. Anna is perfectly suited to being Hamish's mate. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
I LOVE this series! Let's be honest, I adore paranormal romance books, but there are literally hundreds of various series out there right now. So I'm always a little hesitant at the start of new series. I have to say this is certainly one series I am thankful to come across! Although, it has resulted in a few sleepless nights while I feverishly finished each book. Now I did not read this series in order, which is out of sorts for me, but now that I'm up to date I can make the following observations. With each new book there is a gained strength of experience evident from the author. You can read and feel her full-hearted commitment to the characters and this story. This is not your typical "ghost" story; it is fresh, exciting, and completely engrossing. There are highlanders hotties, captivating pirates, lost and weary heroes, strong funny heroines, three headed beasts, and dragons!
This story is the third full length novel (4th story) in the series and it follows the tale of Hamish. I will not ruin story lines, but will let you know that Hamish is a character we love to hate. So picking up this book was scary because I was thinking how I was going to love a book about a character that I don't really like. This is where Ms. Luhrs talent shines! Not only was I so completely wrapped up in this book from the get go, but this book has become my favorite in the series.
I highly recommend this series and book to anyone who likes the paranormal romance and even those who may never had read the genre - this could be your stepping stone. There are plenty of hot steamy graphic moments so use better judgement for younger audiences.

After reading the previous short story where we started to get some background on Hamish, I thought he was worthy of a second chance. Plus he looks very much like Colin so we know he's hot!
I really enjoyed Hamish and Anna's story. Anna doesn't come from much material wise but she is rich in the love of her family. She see's the best in everyone and believes everyone should be able to redeem for their sins if they have some goodness inside. Hamish has much to redeem for and doesn't feel worthy of Anna but she is the first person who makes him want to be a good man and put the past behind him.
I found the plot was much more fast-paced than the previous books with the rising tensions between Shadow Walkers and Day Walkers. It was also great catching up with Colin, Emily, Robert, Maggie and Monroe. Lots of action and character development and a very sad goodbye to one of the characters. Hopefully Thorne can find a way to bring him back.
Looking forward to the next book in the series! Monroe's story!

***Book Received from the Author for a Honest Review*** Honestly I went into reading this saying I wouldn’t like it, mainly because of Hamish. The Author has been awesome in giving me the chance to read and review for her. Ms Luhrs brought her A game, I loved it! I felt all kinds of emotions, the story made me laugh as well as gasp. You will need to read the ones before to understand the pain, the hurt, utter betrayal and the redeeming grace... As Gods go they are always doing the exact opposite of what we want (smiles), and when there hands are into fate just know it will keep you off center. That being said I just love Thorne, Id love to see a story about him. This story has good stuff, Anna a young woman that smells of sweetness and rainbows. She will always see the good in people. Anna has had a hard life but she doesn’t let it show in her personality, her ongoing quest to help others that are disadvantaged. All in all it makes Anna a special lady, you will love her when you meet her. Also in the story you have magic and dragons!! Demons and hell hounds, oh don’t forget goblins and a ancient being so evil it will make Dayne look like Micky Mouse. Of course you have Hamish, the God has given him another chance, ppfffttt yes really. So you will have to read the story to see what Hamish does with his chance. You will get to see Colin, Emily, Robert and Maggie again as well. You will experience passion and some sheet scorching love scenes. Have fun and enjoy this book I did.
I got this book from the author, free of cost, in exchange of an honest review from my side.
Firstly I would like to thank the author for giving me this opportunity of reading and reviewing this book.
Well, first of all the main thing that I felt while reading this story was that 'this story line is new to me, even if the concept is not new', I mean the way the author used up the concept and made it twist and turn in a very different fashion than the other books having similar concepts felt really good to me and it's really remarkable given the fact that even though there are so many books out there based on this same concept, this book succeeded in attracting the attention of the readers and judging the reaction of my fellow reviewers I think that it's true, right?
Coming to the characters, I have a little complaint here and that is the author only made the readers focus on the main characters when there were other characters too that could have had a little bit share of the fame.
The story progressed at the correct pace though the first few chapters were a bit slow moving but it still managed to impress me. The suspense is good and it gave me goosebumps sometimes too and man, I couldn't guess a scene before it happened and everything was either a surprise or a shock to me which felt really good and fresh.
Over all a great read that I think everyone should definitely read. Enjoy !!!
I was given the ARC of Reborn in Shadow by the author in exchange for an honest review.
I was glad to finally be reading more about Hamish. There were some sad stories in Hamish's past that were neatly wrapped up in this story.
A real cliffhanger that means I can't wait to read the next book to discover the rest.
If I'm perfectly honest I have to say I was a bit disappointed about Gloom becoming yet another do-good centre - it would have at least been a little more believable had it followed conversations with Maggie and Emily where the idea was thrown around a bit. I suppose that is only because it followed the other stories so closely. Things were just a bit too well packaged and sweetness and light at times. I think that may be just me as I like a bit of darkness to go with the bad boy aspects.
I enjoyed the read and it followed well from the previous books. The plot was interesting and kept my attention. I look forward to the development of the story as more snippets of information were released in this book about Thorne and other realms leaving me wanting to know more.
I was given an ARC of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
This has been my favorite book of the series so far. The story starts fast and furious and sucked me right in. I became very emotionally invested in this book and I couldn't put it down. The development of Hammish's character was an emotional ride - learning more about his past life I could understand why he is the person he is and why he did the things he did.
Anna is a new character to the series. Her life takes a drastic change when she meet's Hammish. She is a very positive person and she only see's the good in people. She is unknowingly pulled into Hammish's world and life, as she know's it, changes forever.
Cynthia Luhrs did a wonderful job bringing back the other characters and creatures from the series. The story is well thought out and shows great imagination. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. I love this book and I highly recommend it. This book can be read as a stand alone story without reading the rest of the series. The series is wonderful so consider reading all of them.
I love this series. It is getting better and better. I am hooked. Mrs. Luhrs did it again. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book. It was good to hear Hamish's side of the story. My heart was in my throat when Hamish tells Anna his version of the confliction with his brother Colin. I was laughing and then crying. Hope is a good thing. Hope keeps you going. It was good to revisit with other characters. I love Fury and Draken. I can't wait for the next book especially when this book left with cliffhanger. I would highly recommendation this book for something different from the normal.
I received a copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review. (Lovers of Paranormal, LoP)
In Reborn in Shadow, Cynthia Luhrs picks up the pace. It is a positive change from the other books in the series. Hammish is by far the most interesting character in the series. And Anna is all that is good. And Hammish is Hammish! But they are meant for each other.
Book Title: Reborn in Shadow (Shadow Walkers #3) Book Authors: Cynthia Luhrs Source: Kindle Unlimited Rating: 5 stars
It’s all about kilts, pirates, women, dogs, dragons, and more misfits happening in March. The story actually starts on my birthday, too bad that it wasn't a happy beginning.
Now that I've read three books and a novella, I can honestly say that men are nothing without women by their side. ;)
Things got darker in this story though some light was shed on Hamish (which I was thankful for). I no longer hated him after reading about what really happened to his and Colin's parents.
The gods are still up to no good. There's a threat at the end of the book which gives us an idea of what happens in the next book. Some are reunited and some are lost. Oh and I want to try that wine opening trick!
I would recommend this to eighteen and over. Prepare to shed some tears.
'Reborn in Shadow' was incredibly creative. The storyline was full of detailed scenarios and colorful characters. I loved the way the story played out. Full of action, hot and steamy scenes and humor. Hamish finally got to tell his story. For so long I despised this character, but after reading his side, I understand why he did the things he did. Anna is full of sunshine and rainbows. She truly is a unique and great character. I look forward to reading more of the 'Shadow Walker Series'. A great add to your tbr list.
I enjoyed this book very much. This was the first I've read in the series and I didn't even feel totally lost or confused. Of course, now I'm anxious to read the rest of them. A storyline that I became immersed in and characters that I became emotionally invested in. You'll enjoy this book.
