The author of over 80 books in a little over a decade of writing, Dan Gutman has written on topics from computers to baseball. Beginning his freelance career as a nonfiction author dealing mostly with sports for adults and young readers, Gutman has concentrated on juvenile fiction since 1995. As he noted on his author Web site, since writing his first novel, They Came from Centerfield, in 1994, he has been hooked on fiction. "It was fun to write, kids loved it, and I discovered how incredibly rewarding it is to take a blank page and turn it into a WORLD."

Mayor Hubble is in Trouble is a pretty funny book. It's about a third grade president election between the two students, Andrea and A.J.. There is a lot of humor in the book and the story kept me so interested that I wanted to keep reading to find out what happens next. I think this book is good for fourth and fifth graders.

This book is a flipping masterpiece. It should be required reading, and considered a great American novel.

The article entitled,"Mayor Hubble is in Trouble!" by Dan Gutman, is a great tale about a boy named AJ, competing with his arch nemesis to become the president of their school. but what Andrea doesn't know, is that the town's former mayor, Mayor Hubble, is secretly helping AJ! The author's writing is not very descriptive, but the pictures help paint a picture in our minds to better understand the story. One of the book's many strengths is that it tells a hilarious story without being too long. A weakness of the book is that the author relies a little bit on pictures because of the not very descriptive writing. In conclusion, I recommend this for anyone willing to just chill and read a funny story.

his book is realy good it is funny I learned not to back stab your freinds because it all comes back to you and you might get in trouble,I liked that at the end it gave you a good mesage that you can keep your whole life time, but I did not like Mayor humble because he new that he was doing something wrong and he did not stop but that is why I like A.J because after he founed out that Mayor humle back stab him he stood up for himself and told that Mayor humble was back stabing him.I would recommend this book to others because it is funny and it has a good life lesson.

It was about Mayor Hubble who got out of jail for doing good deeds. He's the former Mayor and wants to be Mayor again. He helped two kids named Andrea and AJ with a school election in the 3rd grade. He told them to put up "vote for Mayor Hubble" signs in the school so that their parents would vote for him. He also told them to put up signs on other people's property. He got arrested at the end of the book by the school security guard Office Spence. Since Mayor Hubble was helping Andrea and AJ, nobody won. So they had a runoff and a pet ferret won the election.

Mayor Hubble Is in Trouble! was an okay book. Honestly, the same jokes are being repeated in every single book. Nothing is changing. There are only a few different jokes, but they aren't funny. Another problem is how confusing the book is. While you are reading it, there are way too many questions that still have not been answered at the end of the book

Overall, the book is decently funny. Mayor Hubble is tricking them. The weasel becomes class president. The book has many funny things you can't find in other books.

I recommend this book to kids who want to read something funny.

A.J. and Andrea face off in the 3rd grade run for class president. Ex-Mayor Hubble, who has an ulterior motive gets involved in helping showing how the political game works. Debates, dirty tricks, super secret strategy and kissing babies all come together along with the running gags, inside jokes, and weirder things that you can only experience if you read along.

I gave this one an extra star because it is election season right now. It's always fun to watch a dopey children's parody of politics during this time of year. Is it sad or amusing that even at this low level you can still feel the sting?

I read this quick little read with my kiddo at work today. It’s super cute and was very fast paced. However, this is NOT my type of book. Which is totally fine if it is yours. I was happy to read it with him but I wouldn’t normally read this book. 3/5 stars

Hosting mock elections at an elementary school is great way for students to learn about the democratic process; at least that is what the principle of Ella Mentry School decided. During an assembly in the school's all purpose room, he announced that each grade will be running their own election in order to choose their future class representative. This year the two candidates running for third grade were AJ and Andrea. Although the two were enough of opposites this election was made even more interesting when former Mayor Hubble was thrown into the mix.

After being thrown into jail for theft the previous year, Mayor Hubble tricked the two kids into letting him be their coach. He devised sneaky plans to throw off the other's opponent and taught the kids to lie instead of tell the truth when it came to campaign promises.

It was not until the final night before the students were set to vote that AJ and Andrea learned of Mayor Hubble's nasty trick. Apparently, he promised to help each one win in exchange for them convincing their parents to vote for him.

In the end, AJ and Andrea were equally disappointed in their former mayor. Not only did he trick them, they were also disqualified from the race because they received help from a professional.

I would recommend this book to grades 2nd-3rd. This book not only teaches students about the democratic process as proposed, it also makes readers believe they can also make a difference. It always them to escape into a reality where they are the ones running for class president. In addition, the pictures and language used build the books credibility. Students can feel like the jokes are personal and something not even their "old teachers" would understand.

An activity I would plan to go along with this book would be a class election! This may be covered by some school's student councils, but it would be a great way to assess what the kids have learned about the campaign process. I would split the class into 5 groups and each group would nominate a candidate. The remaining group members would then be in charge of helping that student become president.

Andrea, or Little Miss Perfect (we all had one of those in our class), is running for class president. She wants to implement a school dress code, take away recess, and require more homework. A.J. decides (...well he is more forced by his friends) to run against Andrea to preserve their crappy regular school life. Let the campaigning and mudslinging begin!

I love this series! I don't know who gets more excited when a new one comes out, me or my daughter. This particular book is perfect for an election year!

Dan Gutman understands young reader’s humor and has created a fantastic book formula to draw in even the most reluctant of readers. The My Weird School series is perfect for students to practice their reading skills with its repetitive yet hysterical narrative and story lines. But don’t mention that part to your kiddos, they might run away in fear they could learn something. A must have collection for any grade school library or classroom!

I read this just after finishing The Get Rich Quick Club, and although I liked this a tiny bit more, I still wasn't all that impressed. But I think young readers will find the humor entertaining. The narrator also talks directly to the reader at a few points which is funny and can also be used to teach students about what a narrator is:
"The president of the third grade is..."
I'm not gonna tell you.
Okay okay, I'll tell you. But you have to read the next chapter. So nah-nah-nah boo-boo on you!
I also liked Gutman's idea of embedding jokes and play-on-words into the footnotes. I would probably recommend this to reluctant readers who need a simple story line with some humor to pull them in, even though it's not a favorite of mine.

If you get Mayor Hubble is in trouble you will not be sorry. I think this book is amazing. It is written by Dan Gutman. The book is about Mayor Hubble who steals something like gold in a playground and goes right to jail. Then after he gets out he visits the school and tells them about his life. My favorite part is when Mayor Hubble sneaks into Andrea's room and finds a journal and it says, "I like A.J.!" My favorite character is Mayor Hubble because he is funny. You should get this book because it is very funny. If you have a couple of dollars go get Mayor Hubble is in Trouble!
