Rev. Hagin encourages Christians to examine and follow the scriptural reasons for fasting. He discuss-es the proper length for a fast, and he presents an interesting alternative to the traditional view of fasting--an alternative the Lord gave him.
Rev. Kenneth Erwin Hagin, known as the “father of the modern faith movement,” served in Christian ministry for nearly 70 years.
In 1968, Rev. Hagin published the first issues of The Word of Faith magazine, which now has a monthly circulation of more than 300,000. The publishing outreach he founded, Faith Library Publications, has circulated worldwide more than 65 million copies of books by Rev. Hagin, Rev. Kenneth W. Hagin, and several other authors. Faith Library Publications also has produced more than 9 million audio teaching CDs.
the fact that there are no directives about fasting in the NT is eye-opening as it stands. but Hagin goes into more detail about fasting that is really informative and helpful. it's really something you do as you are led to by the Spirit or you do it for only a couple of reasons: to be more sensitive to the Holy Spirit or to minister to the Lord. you can't make God do something through fasting. and fasting should never be something you do for piety's sake--which i think most christians nowadays fall into this latter category. fasting is simply spending time with God instead of eating. sometimes that's on purpose, other time's you just get caught up in his presence that you skip a meal. fasting.
i also never knew there was so much grace in Hagin's teachings--or in fasting in general. it's awesome.
Although we often claim that spiritual battles won't be won by our strengths, we go right ahead and try to win them by our strengths nonetheless. Our words prove it; "I fasted 3 days and 3 nights and the Lord heard me." Against this backdrop this book shows us that our fast does NOT change God. You? Yes, it changes you into a more sensitive version, but it does not give God more strength in any way to come into your situation.
“Fasting does not change God. He is the same before, during, and after you fast. But fasting will change you. It will help you keep the flesh under. It will help you become more sensitive to the Spirit of God.”
“If you fast and don't minister to the Lord, it might not do you too much good. But fasting will give you that extra time to wait on God. At the same time, it will help you keep the flesh under.”
“As an aid to putting the flesh under, fasting has a real purpose; but as to conquering the devil and sin, Jesus has already done it, and we are in Him!”
“You're not going to move God. He doesn't move. He's already prone to do certain things, and He's going to do them just as soon as you get in contact with Him and let Him.”
“Remember, fasting will not do you much good if you're not going to spend extra time praying, waiting on God.”
“It wasn't just the fasting; it was the extra time I took to wait on God and spend time in His Word that did something for me spiritually. Fasting will help keep the flesh under and make you more sensitive to the Holy Spirit”
“I made greater spiritual strides living the fasted life.”
“The main thing in all the affairs of life is to be led by the Spirit of God.”
“When should you fast? I can't tell you, and the Bible doesn't give you specific instructions. That leaves it up to the leading of the Lord. The more you study, the more you can see how dependent we are on the Spirit of God; not only the Word of God, but the Holy Spirit.”
Thank you, Kenneth E. Hagin, for this insightful book-it truly delivers on its title. I was inspired to read it during a corporate fast at my church, as I needed a refresher on the principles of fasting. I also sought guidance on how to let this fast shape my life moving forward, rather than slipping back into “business as usual” once it ends.
This book provided the answers I was searching for. I greatly appreciate how Kenneth E. Hagin conveys profound truths in such a simple and practical manner. My key takeaway is that fasting is incomplete without ministering to God. It is a profound act of obedience, requiring me to surrender and be led by the Holy Spirit as He directs. Furthermore, fasting serves as a powerful tool to draw closer to God during challenging times, helping me tune my heart to hear Him more clearly.

This mini book makes a balanced case out of the fact that while fasting is great, it doesn't change God but rather it helps us put the flesh under while also helping be more sensitive to God's work in us.
Kenneth Hagin teaches on the need to be balanced and not over exert the flesh, not glorying in works but rather understand the need to always be led by God in everything.
Really eye-opening. If you're a believer and have engaged in Fastings without understanding, this is a great guide to level the foundation for you on fasting in relation to scripture. Most I love how Kenneth Hagin has experiences from his own life. Really opened my eyes on some traditions we follow without understanding.
Papa Hagin comes again with a simple, subtle, sweet & spiritual interpretation of God's Ordinances. Without sophistication, he unveils that the reason we fast is to make us more sensitive to God. And I can personally relate to this. Our world is so swift, we miss the still small voice of our Savior.
In this guide, he enlists us at the end to live a fasted live. Now, this is a grace I covet.
What I needed to know about fasting; the ideology, what the scripture says about it, the dimensions and misconceptions of fasting. In summary, fasting helps to keep your faith under check and makes you sensitive to the Spirit. Far from being a religious activity or by engaging in one change GOD. it changes you rather.
First book of the year 2018! Brother Hagin's explanation on fasting is so concise and precise. We are ministering to the Lord as we fast. It is to tap into God's presence and be more sensitive to the Holy Spirit.
Good read and easy to understand the message being spoken within this book. Very helpful in bringing this believer to the value of fasting to get closer to the Lord.
Very informative book. It made me examine myself this morning as i was reading it on issues on how i fast. I am impressed and realised that we need to be Spirit-led always.
I see the seeds in this book written by Hagin in 1981 of the present-day "hyper-grace" movement. It is helpful to know that an aversion to teaching about fasting in a faith-filled way is nothing new at all. A few authors who write on this subject with more assurance are:
Mahesh Chavda (The Hidden Power of Prayer and Fasting) Lou Engle (The Jesus Fast) Arthur Wallis (God's Chosen Fast) David R. Smith (Fasting: A Neglected Discipline)
Believers need to be filled with the thoughts of men and women who have clearly heard from Jesus, regarding the necessity of fasting at the end of the age. I recommend these authors toward that end.
