Team Red #3

Blind Faith

Rate this book
What do you do when your greatest truth is proven a lie?

Picking up where Color Blind (book two) left off, Teresa is reeling as her life comes crashing down around her. Betrayal of the worst kind has left her struggling to put on a brave front, setting aside shocked confusion, for the sake of those she cares about. Her telepathic sight dog, Red, and Bastian, help to anchor her against turbulent emotions.

Teresa’s colorful and varied friends arrive to celebrate Christmas as the “family” they have become. Some know her heart is broken, while others are oblivious to its tattered state. Thoughtful gifts are in abundance, including several wonderful surprises. Even Red gets into the festivities with surprising insight (and a bit of doggy logic).

Bastian has remained steadfast in his love and loyalty to Teresa, even when she chose David over him. But David has been living a lie, throwing all Teresa thought she knew into question. Can Bas prove to Teresa that he is worthy?

This version of the Team Red series is INTENDED FOR MATURE ADULTS OVER 18. Contains graphic sexual content, and swearing, which is unfortunate as the dog repeats everything.

T feels that writing is not a calling so much as it is a compulsion. No one is more surprised than she is when characters take over the plot and dialog, (re)directing stories in directions she had not (consciously) intended. Although she starts out each novel with a basic outline, she finds that one or two chapters into the novels, not only have the characters shredded her outline into tiny unidentifiable pieces, they use the resulting confetti in a nose-thumbing parade. She is fully convinced the writer is the tool a story uses to tell its tale.

T. Hammond lives in Washington state, and has been a German shepherd owner for over twenty-five years.

Let me start by saying that this is the best book so far in the Team Red series! I was excited when Tina (the author) started working on this book. I mean, after that cliffhanger she left for us, I was dying to figure out what will happen next!! This book takes off right where the last book left off. The author did an amazing job conveying the emotions of all the characters and I’m pleasantly surprised at all the new characters and twists in the book that the author made. I’m a huge fan of this series and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

We begin this book with questions dancing in our heads. Will Teresa choose Bas now that David left? Will she leave David because of his lies and deceit? Or will Teresa choose to accept that David lied and move on with her life with him anyway? Well, the story takes off right where we left off. Teresa is shocked and confused at what happened with David. But Teresa is strong and with the help of Bas and Red, she enjoys the holidays and talks about her feelings with David. Throughout this book, Teresa questions everything in her life, her feelings for David and Bas included. I don’t want to give too much away, but the story is amazing. In this book, secrets about David will surface and even I was shocked by those secrets. We get to understand Bas better in this book and we even get to learn more about Teresa, emotionally. The big question is who will she choose? Bas or David?

Reading the first two books in this series, I can easily tell you I was team David. I swore up and down that I will always be team David, no matter what happens. But after reading this book I’m team Bas 100% and wonder how I could have ever overlooked him. Bas is, in my opinion, the perfect match for her. He challenges her, makes her smile, and most importantly, treats her like an equal. I honestly love his character in this book! This is one of my favorite books this year and the best book T. Hammond has written thus far. The book is edited to perfection, thanks to the amazing editor, and is a brilliant book that everyone needs to read. I recommend this book to everyone!

Some of my favorite parts:

“It would be my pleasure, Beautiful,”

“Believing is always a leap of blind faith.”

“I was beginning to believe I was not simply blind physically, but emotionally as well.”

It's one of my book-children, of course it gets a 5-star rating. This book takes up where book 2, Color Blind left off. Unlike the first two books that can be read out of order, this one must be read after Color Blind, or you will be hopelessly disappointed.

Teresa works her way through David's betrayal, finding comfort in her friends, and taking another look at Bastian, who has remained steadfast and loyal through her relationship with his best friend.

I loved this book because it presented a fun, playful side of Bastian. There are many Team Bas fans, and I think if you were ever on the line about him, you'll definitely fall in love with this warm, witty man.

There is more intensity, action, and more background on the top secret work PreClan does for Uncle Sam... oh, and this time, there's a whole herd of Mustangs heading north!

Blind Faith might as well have been just part of the previous book as the story picked up right where the previous book left off. In Blind Faith, we continue to see exactly how strong Teresa has become as she faces new emotional struggles. This book might have been the most emotional of the ones in the series so far, with a lot of highs and lows. The "family" around Teresa, Red, Bastian, and David continue to contribute to the stories, but in Blind Faith the focus is on the relationship between Bastian and Teresa. Through words and actions, Bastian continues to show Teresa exactly how deep his feelings run for her as he supports her through her heartbreak. I really love that Bastian has a self-awareness of his own potential relationship shortfalls and spends time to ensure Teresa understands that his actions in those cases will be more of a reflection of him and who he is, and not a reflection of his feelings for her, which we really come to understand exactly how deep they run. I ended Blind Faith clearly in the "Team Bastian" camp and really enjoyed how the author worked to develop this relationship differently from Teresa's relationship with Bastian.

Blind Faith has a lot of "laugh out loud" parts as well. I really enjoyed the conversation between Janey and Teresa, about Janey's concerns over Teresa and Bastian's relationship. Janey tried to find a tactful way to ask if Teresa, David, and Bastian were part of a threesome! I could really feel Janey's discomfort throughout that conversation - and then to realize that Bastian was hearing the entire thing. I LOVED that Bastian's reaction was so succinct. He walks in and says, "Seems we have a few more matters to clear up. Now's a good time for me". He then grabs Teresa and takes her upstairs. I LOVE that he wasn't offended or upset - that it took it to mean literally that there were parts of their developing relationship that still needed talking through. I think I fell in love with Bastian right then! But don't get me wrong, Bastian has a devilish side and we see his sense of humor often reflected in his witty comebacks and responses in conversations with Teresa. Bastian is no longer a boor and I really love him!

And then we met Tank. Everyone in the family has gotten Red presents for Christmas - he's a vital member of the family. His most important present, however, was Tank. Tank is a blood brother from a different litter. Tank is not another dog for Teresa - Tank is Red's dog and it's up to Red to raise and teach and manage Tank. You really get to see so much more of Red's personality as he begins his raising of Tank and how the other members of the family have to help him understand the important aspects of having a new puppy in the house! Red has some really great ideas about how to incorporate Tank into their family and their home. He continues to be my favorite character in these books!

One slight annoyance - it is really bugging me that Teresa looks different on each of the covers. I know how cover art works and sometimes the author has no control over it, but its clear that these books are about the same characters in the same series, yet Teresa looks different. Similar but clearly not the same. Just bugs me - so there, I've said it!

I purchased this book as part of the omnibus collection

Where do you start, at the beginning of book 2 I was Team David all the way and then we got to that shocking cliff hanger. My first thought when I read the reviews for book 3 is I don't see how Teresa can flip flop from David to Bas without me wanting to strangle her and it sure sounded like that was going to happen. I was so pleasantly surprised at how the character relationships developed in this book. Teresa really has a lot of thinking and deep soul searching to work through and we get to see her work her way through a really difficult situation.

First David, wow I never saw that one coming, what a great plot twist.

I never thought I would be a Cheerleader for Bas but boy does his character have a lot more depth than we thought, I have to say I've flip flopped myself and now I'm TeamBas all the way :)

I love Henry, I'm so glad he returned and we really got to know him better in this book, and Mustangs, yummy, more sexy men are always a good thing.

I thought Red's Christmas present was ingenious and I can't wait to watch them interact with each other. Of course Red himself, every book he just seems to grow and bloom more and more, I love the way he processes things in him mind and he keeps me laughing all the way through.

Blind Faith begins right where the last book left off. Teresa has basically been abandoned by David after dropping a huge bomb on her right on Christmas Eve. She's hurt, and angry and unsure of what to do next. Bas comes to stay with her while David is gone, and he to is upset with his friend. But he's taking this as his chance to let Teresa finally "see" him as who he is now, even when he makes mistakes. Not only does Teresa have to worry about her love life, she's also worried about all of the dangers and new changes that are coming to Team Red now.

I really enjoyed this read. I felt like it was a great addition to the series showing us a little of Bas and Teresa now that David has completely messed up. I really liked David, so it was kind of sad to see it all play out. However, I'm really starting to enjoy Bas and I think he may be better for Teresa in the longer run anyways.

Let's also not forget about the awesome Red. It seems that Red and Teresa are again picking up a few new tricks, and getting better and better at everything they already do. And Red just keeps getting smarter as well! I can not wait to read the next book.

Happy and Sad

First off I like that Teresa stuck to her guns on the David betrayal. Things were too nice nice between them. The way he let Bas continue to take care of Teresa to free himself up to move in to his next concurring activity was not good game. The only thing he wanted from the girl was her nights it seemed.

Anyway I like Teresa’s backbone as a character. More women need that fortitude.

This is one of the few stories that I have read lately that when it came to the end, I could not believe it was over. I wanted to read more! I cannot believe I have to wait for the next story in the series to see what happens. (sigh)

Blind Faith is the continuing story of Teresa March and her fantastic dog, Red. All of my favorite characters are back - Bas, David, Gil, Janey and Ken, to name a few. There are also some new colorful characters to add to the bunch - Henry, who we met in book 2, as well as Russ and his team of Mustangs, and the newest family member, appropriately named Tank.

I am a sucker for Christmas stories, and I was thrilled to have that as a backdrop for the story. We finally get to the bottom of the bombshell cliffhanger that was the ending of book two. (Thanks Ms. Hammond - it was driving me crazy!) Teresa finds herself having to reevaluate her life and the choices that she has made. She also finally comes to terms with some hard facts - like she probably chose David because he was "safe," as well as the truth that she has most likely always been in love with Bastian. My heart breaks right along with hers! The author has a way of really bringing the characters to life, they are dimensional and very real. The dialogue and rapport between the characters is one of my favorite aspects - I love the humor, witty comebacks and sarcasm!

And then there is Bastian - Bas. Holy. Flipping. Cow. I liked him before, but now....well, damn. I want one too. (LOL!) Teasing aside, I love seeing him in more depth. I also truly enjoyed the added insights of Red. Bless that doggy heart! I thought I was Team David, but now I am really hoping that Teresa picks Bas. Again, thanks so much to Ms. Hammond, we have to wait for book 4.

I highly recommend not just this story, but the whole series. The stories are a great read, and sure to leave you laughing out loud and touch your heart as well. Another quick shout out to the author - I was tickled pink to see that you picked reader's suggestions for Team Red mottos.

Key Plot Elements: strong woman nursing a broken heart; one man dedicated to making it right, finally, and another who is in the proverbial doggy house; paranormal in a clever, thoughtful German shepherd who can communicate, among other furry characters; scifi (or is it?) military technology; drama; adult language and scenes.

Picking up where “Color Blind” left off, Teresa is reeling from a suddenly shattered heart on Christmas Eve. One of the things I loved best about this story is that Hammond didn’t take Teresa down the usual pity party route. Yes, of course, there are some scenes where she is appropriately overcome with sadness. However, I loved the way her strength was balanced with selfless grace. From Teresa “finding her backbone,” to graciously welcoming holiday guests, a range of emotional sticking points were beautifully handled. Teresa’s responses are real, and genuine, but also something to aspire to.

Lest you think this is all romance, do not despair. “Blind Faith” includes lots of techy talk about the ongoing military project; big words that sound like really fun toys for grown men. Drama as we are reminded how valuable the software has become. And, on a lighter note, it turns out Teresa’s house has been keeping a few secrets.

This book could be read stand alone, although I wouldn’t recommend it. There are some touches back to prior events, and some new (surprising) character development among the three main players. However, most of Teresa’s emotional exploration, aimed at setting her world right-side-up, only makes sense if you’ve read at least “Color Blind.”

Additional Review from Cracker Jack and Maggie: As a part of the editing process, I do my final read through entirely aloud. My two Golden Retrievers wanted you to know they very much enjoyed Red’s parts. He used interesting words like cookie, ball, and beef bone. And he was the hero in one part, alerting Teresa to danger. They think Red is a very cool dog.

Ok first off this book picks up where Color Blind left off, these books should not be read out of order and there will be spoilers for Color Blind in this review so if you haven't read it yet stop now and read it, then you can come back….you're back, good now we can get to the good stuff.

David took Theresa's world and turned it upside down, on Christmas Eve, after proposing. How could he possibly have lied like that, and for so long….he has a wife, and son, and no one, not even his best friend Bastian knew. But in all the turmoil Bastian is there for Theresa. It's Christmas and her framily (you know friends who are family) is coming over and she doesn't want them to know about David yet. Bastian holds her together and keeps the secret but they're not exactly subtle and Janey gets suspicious. Janey and Theresa have a very revealing conversation and Red drops a few bombshells of his own regarding Theresa's relationships with David and Bastian. Let's just say she has a lot to think about. There's more action again as someone (or actually several someones) tries to storm the property (BIG mistake). And the Mustangs are back and it looks like they’ll be around for a while. Well the next book Blind Rage is waiting for me to finish this review so I can get on with the story, so I'll be going now. I cannot recommend this series highly enough just remember, read them in order to avoid spoilers.

Love that dog Red!

The continuing story draws you in and keeps you wondering … the romance between Teresa and David has taken quite a turn after the shocking betrayal revealed at the end of the last book. As always, Red is mind-speaking and vision-sharing (I really LOVE that dog!) and several times his observations about her relationships are what really give Teresa insights and understandings to think about. Wow!

As hope gradually fades for fixing everything which David has broken with his betrayal, Teresa finds her heart opening up to Sebastian more and more. He has always loved her and now she realizes she not only loves him as a friend or like a brother … perhaps he’s the true soulmate she’d thought she’d had in David. Quite a quandary!

There again is a lot of humor in all the normal everyday things as well as some not so ordinary things; this author really can make you laugh. We meet and get to know some new characters while continuing to enjoy those from the first two books. And, the added layers of complexity for what David and Sebastian are doing for the U.S. military along with the necessary security that requires (hence, the new characters) just add lots of intrigue and excitement about things to come.

I can’t wait to read the other books in this series to learn those things to come and see how things evolve. Of course, I especially want to “hear” all the things Red will have to say about them. (Did I mention how much I LOVE that dog?)

Blind Faith picks up immediately where Color Blind finished. We are completely in the action and drama ensuring that Tina Hammond's third installment is filled with tension, heartache and a whole load of confused emotions.

Once again, the author uses the character Red to bring fabulous wit to her novel ensuring there is a strong light-hearted element to the book. Her writing style flows well, with the attention of sensory detail being beautifully crafted and developed. I really enjoy Tina Hammond's creation of setting.

In Blind Faith, we get to see a whole lot more of the delectable Bastian, which is a real treat, and the author pushes and develops her characters in fun, tender and surprising ways. This ensured that Blind faith was a thoroughly enjoyable read. The author does not leave quite the level of angst and uncertainty of book two, and has successfully set the characters up for book four. I'm eager to discover what the author has install for her lovely characters.

Blind Faith starts where Color Blind ends. The characters are very real and their emotions are conveyed to the reader well. I love the good boy/bad boy conflict that Teresa Marsh is encountering. Red is pure fantasy but you have to love him. The author puts Red in a position where he is "growing up" and has to teach his new friend how to behave, he becomes a parent, so to speak. Although, we are left with a cliffhanger, Book 3 closes well. We are left with a lot of unanswered questions, which I am eager to learn. There is a lot going on in Blind Faith where Teresa has to be honest with herself, decide what she is truly feeling, all the new people in the house and a building project. As if this isn't enough, people are still out to hurt them.
I anxiously await Book 4, feeling quite confident that Ms. Hammond will put out another 5 star read.

This is book 3 of the Team Red series and just when I think "This is my favorite one of the series" the next one is even better. Theresa is a strong-willed woman who has two gorgeous men competing for her attention...poor thing. She is a great character that I loved from the beginning. A lot of women in books can seem whiny or can be hard to warm to at first but I've not had that problem in this one. David has some explaining to do in this book and to me his excuse still wasn't cutting it, but I have been Team Bas from the beginning. This book has some great moments in it, my favorite is one that I will remember every time I hear the song "I'm sexy and I know it." This series is ranking high on my favorites series list! I highly recommend this book!!

Great 3rd book in the Blind series. I hate what Teresa is discovering about her relationship with David, since his betrayal and lies. I do feel for what he is going through as well. Especially when we learn more about what is happening. I am happy, very happy, about the developments with Bas. Go #TeamBas. Can't wait to start the next book. This series has been a great surprise. I got the first book for free on Amazon and became addicted to it so fast. What's not to love....there's a sarcastic, intelligent, talking dog that has a tendency to act like a hyper toddler.

In love with this series!

This series just keeps getting better. Ms. Hammond is a skillful writer and I'm addicted! We start where we left off, with David being the biggest jerk and liar of all time. Bas takes up being the support amid comfort Teresa needs while dealing g with the fall out of David's betrayal. This one wasn't much for action but really developed the connection between Bas and Teresa. I can't wait for book 4!

3.2 Stars. This book is more about personal exploration then crime solving. There is some excitement but that more has to do with the guy's work. Teresa is a far more understanding and forgiving woman than I. Things with David are explained more but still not fully worked out and Bas gets more interesting by the day. Fans of the series might be startled but shouldn't be disappointed.

Yay!!!! So happy that Teresa got over David and realized she was in love with Bas. Also i am very happy that David was still in the family, but it was a little surprising to find that Marcie had cancer. But of course, Teresa being the loving caring and kind woman she is, invited them to her home to care for them.

Awesome series!

This series is so much fun to read. I have just finished book #3 and can't wait to start the next one. Red is the guide dog for Teresa, the main character, and they talk to each other. Red has the funniest way of looking at things, i laugh a lot! Its a very interesting series, and well worth reading!

The title is perfect for this book. What happens when you put your blind faith in someone and you find out everything you thought about them was wrong. Again this was a great book in the series. It moved a little slower for me than the first two but I still loved every minute of it. Well done!
