Food fetishes even for healthy foods such as salad can wreak havoc upon your children ... well apparently. I wonder how many generations were put off leafy greens due to reading the consequences of this story? A wicked witch coming to claim their only child because her garden was pilfered?! On the other hand, perhaps others of a more optimistic mind might have hoped for gloriously fast growing hair?! It is endlessly fascinating how people will interpret a story.

Try it sometime. Read a simple story to a group of people. Then ask for reactions. Woah Nellie! People will come up with the most bizarre interpretations!

No one in this story can tell the difference between male and female voices. And having someone climbing up your hair must be incredibly painful and potentially impossible. So yeah.

Menarik.

What sort of salad is so good that it’s worth giving up your own child?

There are a lot of plotholes in this that bug me every time I read it to junior. like if the witch needs rapunzels hair to climb the tower, how does she get up there to talk to the prince after she's banished rapunzel ?
Also, am concerned at addictive quality of 'salad' in this story. I don't know anyone addicted to salad like the woman in this story. and her husband is a simpleton. Maybe I shouldn't take it so seriously ?

I have a Ladybird easy reading book well loved tales in my kids stuff . As a father now I didn't understand many of its plots to retell the story to my 4 years kid ..he will keep ask me questions like .why Rapunzel mother want salad and she would die for it. Why Rapunzel father would steal......etc. so i took the decision the animation picture is much better
