This story is good to have for children that are learning to read. It has pictures to go along with the words like car. The story has problem solving and how to handle frustrations. Young children could relate to the story because they do not like to wait. It's a book with ni hao kai-lan, so it is cuturally diverse. I would read this story maybe during transportation week because it's about the characters waiting to take a turn driving a car they built.
Learning Experience:
I would make shakers out of water bottles and place different colored cars on each shaker. We would play a game where when I hold up your color car you get to shake your shaker. The other children are practicing waiting until their turn. I will have a stop sign to indicate when to stop shaking. Then we could use the shakers to dance creativley to a song.
This book is about a little Chinese girl named Kailan. Her friend rintoo got a toy car and now he has to build it, but their friend Hoho is very impatient. Throughout this story they all put together this toy car while Hoho gets a lesson on patience.
