This would be a great Bible for boys, the flight concept, could easily transfer to a map or pilots uniform with a sticker or badge for milestones. (Boys in grades 3 or 4 are the hardest age to reach in curriculum, and oh the appeal of the flight, the itinerary, and the images throughout the 40-200 stops!)
The reading teacher in me thinks this is an awesome tool for teaching or modeling how to read and understand the Bible. The built in tools help provide all the key reading strategies for comprehension (connections, imagery, summarizing, clarifying, questions, evaluations, and prediction/inference)
The paths and options are a refreshing way to get an overview of the Bible, and it lets you pick your commitment. (I tried the flyover and didn't succeed as I wanted to read all the special touches and other passages marked on a page.)
The sense of accomplishment and connections could be very empowering to a new Bible reader, and a veteran Bible reader, the New Living Translation is solid yet refreshing perspective.
The Bible is filled with scenic overlooks (signified by binoculars) images and maps for major places, connections of this portion of scripture to other portions read, connections to Christ, to history, and info-graphics to help the reader easily connect the Bible to itself, and help gain perspective.
Each reading has a special introduction, an observation and an exploration to help the reader think through this part of God's Big Story, and these simple inserts could make it easier for a novice to grasp the points without a lot of commentaries, concordances, or tools.
I believe that a Bible scholar could enjoy reading through these commentaries and determining if they would prefer a different connection, add a new theological term, or concept, or leave it as the creators of the Bible wrote it. But it's unique, and it in my book it inspires thinking on many levels.
I believe this Bible has features that could help keep you on track in a group Bible study, but still provide a good overview and some critical thinking for lively discussions. I especially like the infographics and charts.
It is not a Bible that teaches doctrinal terms, theological concepts, it's merely a tool to explore the text of the Bible, get an overview of the Bible, and see topics across the Bible (like Angels, Easter Readings, forgiveness, ...)
I will continue to test this Wayfinding Bible and see how my thoughts change, expand or grow, but the bottom line is, I find it a very useful tool that I want to continue to have on my nightstand with easy access.

I recently found a gem of a Bible from Tyndale, called the Wayfinding Bible. Sometimes the Bible can difficult to navigate or understand, especially for a new believer. I feel that this Bible would be perfect for a new believer or anyone who wants to get more familiar with the Bible.

The Wayfinding Bible is in the easy to understand NLT (New Living Translation). This is the translation that my church uses, and it makes scripture very clear, in my opinion. In addition to this, the Wayfinding Bible has three reading plans or “routes”: the flyover route, the direct route, and the scenic route. The flyover route is about 50 readings, and gives you an overview of the Bible. It brings it all together to show how all of the events in the Bible tell on big story. The direct route is about 200 readings, and gives the reader a little more understanding about how the story of the Bible developed throughout history. Finally, the scenic route is exactly as it sounds. It is more in-depth with about 400 readings, and the reader will explore God’s word more closely.

All three plans start in Genesis 1, and there are three colored arrows at the top of each page telling you what page and verses to read next in your reading plan. It is almost like the “Choose Your Own Adventure” books that I used to read when I was younger. There are book introductions, timelines, maps, and helpful notes through all of the reading plans. This Bible is very colorful and eye catching. It easily keeps your attention, and you will not want to put it down as you progress in the plan of your choice. The text is in a double column format, and it is an 8 point font.

There are also 8 two page articles called “Getting Your Bearings” to help the reader stay on track and check for understanding of what is being read. “Side Trips” explore important concepts in greater detail. The Wayfinding Bible is offered in a few different covers. I have the hardcover version and am enjoying reading from it. The only thing that I would change about this Bible would be to have a sewn binding to make it more durable over time. It is a wonderful tool, and it is a joy to read through daily to immerse myself in scripture!

I received a copy of this Bible from the publisher, Tyndale, in return for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Have you ever wanted to read the Bible, but only wanted to read the most important aspects of it? How about trying to get all of the information you can on the whole Bible and studying more in-depth? What if I told you that there was a Bible that can give you just what you wanted? Well, there is such a Bible that will cater to your needs. It is called The Wayfinding Bible. The Wayfinding Bible is currently from Tyndale House Publishers.

The cover is smooth. The pages are crisp and white. There are colorful images throughout the Bible that help facilitate your learning of the stories inside these pages. Three different routes help you read the whole Bible. There is a bonus way to read the Bible Chronologically.

Overall, this Bible is amazing. I love the way it feels, the pages are crisp and clean, and there is just so much information packed into this Bible that you will be able to study from it for years to come. Tyndale House Publishers did a great job of putting this Bible together. I feel that it would make a great investment for your spiritual life.

I received this Bible in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions in this review are of my own. All pictures on this post are my own.

This is the first time I’ve read the Bible all the way through! I love that our church reads it together and can’t wait to start over in Genesis tomorrow with even more people!

This bible is awesome. First I love that it is a mapping system for the bible. Often it is hard to find a fun innovative way to read the bible daily with themes important events, and a lead to the next. This bible in particular reminds me of a history book. I love the color codes, the color mapping system and the set up of the key points. With the Wayfinding bible you get three different types of routes you can take to give you the understanding you need of the bible and the purpose that we use the bible for. The first Route is the fly over route which is the route I chose to review in a timely manner. This route gives you great details on the major events like creation the fall, the flood, the Covenant with Abraham. There is also the direct route that gives more scriptures in detail and gives you about 200 reading scriptures to get a better more deep understanding of the bible. While the fly over route only gives about 50 readings on the most important events and how they tell one huge story. Then there is the last route the Scenic Route. This route gives an in depth study giving you a combination of the other two with more background information and study.

I want to talk more about the mapping system; each route has a icon and page where you start. It maps you with an arrow on each page on when you need to go to the next page depending on the route you chose at the beginning of your reading. It gives you a point at how many reading you have accomplished so far on your route, and what passages to read next. Once you have done your reading it will tell you where to go. You may have to skip pages and that is okay, as long as you stay on your route and follow the map. I actually really love this. I love that I feel like I am going on a journey even though I am taking either the shorter route or longest I still get all these intros and exploration points and observation points. On some of the routes you may have to go backward but just stay the course. I like that if you do stop on a page that is not on your route, you won’t get a reading. The Wayfinding Bible has done all the guess work out of your bible reading plan.

I also love about this bible is that everything that it directs you to is in traveling terms. I love that someone had a sense of humor, I use the creative side of my brain a lot this really exercises it! In the back of the bible it has a section I love called Itinerary which gives you the events you went over and the actual route it is on. It gives you the scriptures, and page numbers to get to it easily. It also has a section called Side Trips. These are topics that we all wonder what the bible has to say about whether it is healing, the power of the Holy Spirit, prayer, about the love of God. Then points of interest go into more topics like anger, arguments, advice, hope etc.

I really love this bible and have already recommended it to friends and even let them check it out and they have all went out and purchased this bible. It has so much more that I can’t even go over in this review. I enjoy every minute that I read it and I love that I find such valuable information that Is useful for so informative.

This was my first venture into the NLT(New Living Translation) Bible translation, and so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I've always been one to just basically read straight through the Bible when doing personal Bible reading. Yes, I of course follow devotionals and things of that sort, but when holding a Bible in my hands something always prompted me to just read everything in order. So, in paging through the Wayfinding Bible, it truly was an adventure. I found that I actually really enjoyed the readings and the full color maps here and there were beautiful.

As far as what route(this Bible's version of a reading plan) I took, I paged through a little bit of each(I plan on going through each route eventually, and posting a review/my thoughts on each route individually). I found them to be well thought out and I loved the way you could look at the top of the page and see where you are at on each route be it Fly-Over, Direct, or Scenic. A feature I found really interesting was the little "side trips" throughout, they were fun and interesting while reading through. There's even a guide that shows how Jesus can be found anywhere in the Bible.

I highly recommend this fun Bible for young and old. The size of the text makes it nice and readable and the content is outstanding. Plus, as far as study Bibles go, you cannot beat the price as this one is highly affordable!

*I received this Bible for review from Tyndale via their review program, but this in no way affected my review or opinion.*

The Wayfinding Bible is a very unique idea. In this Bible the reader is able to navigate through the Bible in three different directions. There is the “Flyover” route, which is the quickest way to read through the Bible. In only 54 readings you gain a chronological overview of the events of the Bible. Then there is the “Direct” route. In 215 readings you can a full angle of the entire Bible and how it fits all together. Then last but not least there is the “Scenic” route, where in 386 readings you can learn the wisdom and fullness of God’s word.
I travelled through bits and pieces of each, and found this to be very informative, it sure keeps you reading and learning God’s word. I think that this has become one of my favorite Bibles. It is written in the New Living Translation, which means it is easy to read and understand, the font size is a good size to read, not overly large and not too small. It contains lots of charts and information, and easy to navigate as you read through each chapter in every book.

If you zip through your daily Scripture to reading only to realize you have no idea what you just read (that’s me more often than I care to admit), The Wayfinding Bible would be a great tool to keep you on track. The frequent summaries and other features make it easy to follow along and keep tabs on what’s going on.

And if you’re looking for a Bible with a reading plan, go with this one! The four different reading plans will give you a deeper understanding of the scope of the Bible.

I went through one of the reading tracks and it provided me with a very interesting look at the Bible and how all of the stories fit together to form a single story that revolves around God and his people through the ages.
