CheckMate: Play At Your Own Risk
At 23, Monty Banks is at the very top of his game. He is wanted by many attractive women, who will do anything to spark his attention. These thrill seeking women are known to him as his pawns and they anxiously wait for him to fulfill their sexual fantasies. In return, he’s paid generously for his adventurous deeds. His magnetism, good looks, and extraordinary style of love making is the key to getting him everything he wants, but falling in love was not part of the game plan until Candy makes her move on him.
Things seem to be headed in the right direction until Candy’s world is turned upside down and Monty finds himself needing to be there to pick up the pieces. As the two grow closer, the balancing act between satisfying his pawns and being with his potential queen becomes a strategic move in wanting to have his cake and eat it too.
Will this spontaneous high mean more to him than being with just one woman or will the love of the game entice him to continue to play? Will Candy continue to pursue the man of her dreams or will she ultimately realize that keeping her dignity is more important? This story started out slow, and midways through I had to push myself to keep going. The story took off in the last few chapters. If the author would have began with the same type of action she put into the end, this would have been a 5 star banger. I'm taking a break before beginning book two, but I sure hope the remaining two books in the series pickup.

This was an excellent story and the only reason that I continued to read. The dialogue of the characters didn't flow for me. It read as if they were rehearsal for a play. There was no emotion or feeling, just a lot of words. A lot of unnecessary words.

Author Tiece Mickens should consider this book an astonishing victory! This book possessed all the elements of a 5 star banger! I was intrigued throughout the entire book and was amazed at the characters ... I would be amiss if I did not look forward to reading the sequel! Splendid Story!!!

Book was pretty slow during the beginning and middle. It didn't perk up until the last third of the book. I hope book 2 is better, but I'm not in a rush to start as of right now.

Good read
I don't know what kind of penis Monty had but they payments he was getting from women for sex were crazy!! Candy finally got her dude, but she also got all the bs that came along with him. This was a good book but I'm not really looking forward to reading the others in this series

very good read can't wait to see how this will unfold between monty & candy and rico who got his self caught up in not one situation but 2 wow off to part 2 recommend this series to read !!

CHECKMATE by Tiece Mickens tell the story of main character Monty Banks and at the age of 23 he is successful sex for hire escort but the only thing he is serving up is sexual relations and for his company or I should say services he isn’t cheap either.
Monty has been able to survive and help his mom due to his lucrative business and he just wants to make his money and eventually retire from the “fast life” since it often comes with a lot of unwanted attention he isn’t actually seeking.
He wants to walk away but his pawns, as what he refers to as his clients the satisfaction of being able to bring these females to such sexual bliss is a pure adrenaline rush for Monty and he continues this lifestyle while padding his wallet.
Enter his sister’s best friend Candy into the equation a pretty young thing that he has considered taking it to the next level but due to her age he has forced himself to wait and he does but as soon as she turns legal he gives into temptation and a love affair is born.
CHECKMATE was a very interesting story and I could not put the book down, it definitely kept my attention because I wanted to know what was going to happen next especially between Candy and Monty, would it be love or money and would Candy stay around if the choice didn’t benefit her.
Tiece Mickens definitely wove together great storyline and perfect poly execution that will leave readers ready for her sequel. Definitely a literary job well done for debut novelist Tiece for Checkmate.

This book got good reviews but to be honest I was very bored with it. I'm very positive I will not be reading part two. One thing I didn't understand why candy was so mad at Monty that he continued on with his business after she found out she was pregnant. She knew everything she was getting into . When she first hooked up with him so it was stupid of her to bounce on him. He lied that night to protect her feelings she didn't really want the truth. Monica was sneaky and conniving, there was no reason for her to call candy. Even if candy would have gotten mad and left Monty he still would not have been with her. Monica was even more stupid because she knew how Monty got down, she may not have known it was Monica but it shouldn't matter who he was with as long as she knew it was business. Candy and Mona got on my nerves.

I swear Tiece did her thing with Checkmate!!! Monty was too much! I guess you really couldn't knock his hustle since he was doing what he needed to take care of his family. Starting out with the book, you would've thought Candy was just another fast ass teenager but I soon learned otherwise. With Nancy and Will's situation I could only say wow! All Monty's pawns were too much but Paris took the cake. Monica was crazy! Guess she wasn't expecting Monty to say what he did. Candy leaving was just what was needed for Monty to realize he needed to get his act together or risk losing her and the baby. As for Rico, who would have ever thought he didn't learn his lesson from dealing with Paris. Monica played him in the worst way. Mona about to go in on Rico!

Slow Read
Well this book took a minute for me to get into it. But as it went on it got real good. It could of been 5 star but the beginning was to slow. Monty was something else and Candy gurl was and old soul. So sad what happen with her mom but Love will make you do something.

Now I am not a chess player, but dang I want to learn now! Lol! My husband loves the game! Always protect the queen! A really good read! This book was well put together! The main character was a trip! I do recommend!

The storyline was good character development was Consistent throughout. Was happy that this was not a typical drug boy story. There were a few grammatical errors hence the four stars. Gonna start part two cause I know the drama ain't done yet. Good read.
