I love starting out my quiet time by reading the daily prayer of praise in this book. They are scripture-based prayers and full of God's attributes and promises. God has encouraged me so much through this book and I continue to use it every morning.
*Re-reading in 2025. This book is a perfect start to my daily quiet time.
This was such an awesome reminder of how to praise the Lord for everything. The prayer each day seemed to be the perfect prayer for what I was walking through, which is kinda awesome how God does that. Its pushed me to praise the Lord for things that I normally wouldn’t give a second thought.
Besides the 31 days of devotions, the book contains many Scripture references that are worth your reading and meditation, plus many inspirational insights from the author Ruth Myers, a former missionary who became a widow at a young age. She shares from her own circumstances and many years of Godly wisdom, how important Worship through praise and thanksgiving is in our relationship with God. It is a book to read over and over.
I like the intro and the first few days really connected with me. I like that it's scripture lead, the verses are listed at the end of each day. This has been a way I have prayed and journaled and was a good reminder to do so again. Allowing God's word to give us words and direction in our prayers helps shape our prayers and our minds. found it good and encouraging. The intro and the content after the 31 days is worth taking the time to read.
“By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name.” Hebrews 13:15 KJV
Such an excellent book. I’m constantly coming back to it. It taught me not only the importance of praise but how life changing and fulfilling it is. Highly, highly recommend!
This is a great little book of prayers with a focus on praise. It’s nice to have prayers written out based on scriptures for those dry times when you just can’t come up with the words to pray. We can be honest with God while still praising Him. Found this book recommended in Courage, Dear Heart by Rebecca K Reynolds.
*** “Even in troubled circumstances, or when God does not choose to work in spectacular ways, praise can help us view our situation through different lenses. It can help produce within us a restful, invigorating inner climate. And often this change of climate within us helps transform the atmosphere around us, for our new attitudes cause people to react differently to us. We begin to exert a creative and uplifting influence on them.”
This book really helps you incorporate praise into your every day life. I took the time to look up each scripture which really enhanced the daily devotion.
I have read this one twice this year. Will pick it up every few months.
During lockdown 2020 this book was a great support. It is an uplifting book I would recommend to anyone. This book is a devotional book with a page or two to read based on biblical truths and encouragement.
Stay home and take a 31 day journey. You will find yourself inspired plus a habit created of daily give the Lord praise with thanksgiving. Prayers of Scripture will prepare & comfort you in life's battles of disappointment & sorrow. You'll be strengthened & reminded of God's love, power & grace.
Fantastic book. Jam packed with God's truth and promises. A guide to grow gratitude. Will be referring back to and rereading this for years to come. Just might make this my Thanksgiving advent.
This is both a read and currently reading book because I use it every morning as a daily devotional. Usually it is my first devotional; beginning the day with praise and thankfulness to God, my Creator and Jesus the Christ who died for me and my sins. Everyday I am facing challenges as my family has been torn apart; and this book helps me begin "keeping my eyes upon Jesus the Author and finisher/ perfector of my faith" My first time going through this book I was blessed with the words to Choose the Cultivate the Habit Of Praise. A tune just burst out of me as I was reading and choosing to worship God.
This book taught me that praise is so much more than just "thank you". The prayers are deep, relatable, and sometimes convicting. The book starts with an intro to help you understand praise and explains how to use the daily prayers. The center of the book includes the 31 daily prayers. The last section of the book includes chapters on digging deeper into praising God. Incredibly helpful, especially if you are going through a challenging time and need to learn the art of praising God in all circumstances. A wonderful resource to go back to again and again.
I just picked up this book again because I know this is what I need. Some of the most precious Psalms were created out of the sorrow of David's heart. So this book was created out of the suffering of widowhood. I WANT to read this book. I NEED to read this book! I trust the God-who-is-there desires to meet me here, where I am and I long to pour my heart back to Him. May He be glorified...in everything.
Great little devotional full of prayers of praise to God! It's so true that just as God answers prayer, "God answers praise." - (Hans R. Waldvogel). God dwells in the praises of His people, so we should never neglect praise in our prayers if we want Him to come and meet with us. I found this book at a good time, and really enjoyed reading the devotional prayers, as well as Ruth and Warren Meyers' comments on how God works through praise.
