The brain can be trained for a happier, less stressful life

Brains are highly variable, changing systems that shift in response to our experience. Contemplative neuroscience proves that we have the power to guide our brain’s ongoing development – to cultivate happiness and compassion. In this accessible dialogue, Goleman and Davidson explain the science behind our emotions. Detailing the neurological effects of contemplation, they show how we can activate our brains to recover from stress and anxiety, and conquer fear. Goleman and Davidson offer a new vision for emotional education at any age.

Author of Emotional Intelligence and psychologist Daniel Goleman has transformed the way the world educates children, relates to family and friends, and conducts business. The Wall Street Journal ranked him one of the 10 most influential business thinkers.

Goleman’s Emotional Intelligence was on The New York Times best sellers list for a year-and-a-half. Named one of the 25 "Most Influential Business Management Books" by TIME, it has been translated into 40 languages. The Harvard Business Review called emotional intelligence (EI) “a revolutionary, paradigm-shattering idea.”

Goleman’s new book, Focus: The Hidden Driver of Excellence, argues that attention — a fundamental mental ability for success — has come under siege. Leadership that gets results demands a triple focus: on our inner world so we can manage ourselves; on others, for our relationships; and on the outer forces that shape our organizations and society itself.

His more recent books include The Brain and Emotional Intelligence, and Leadership: The Power of Emotional Intelligence - Selected Writings.

Good conversationalist style audio book, that summarises research to date on training the brain, and the impacts of negative emotions

Listened as an audiobook. Similar to a podcast where they’re having a literary discussion and talking about emotional intelligence. Felt kind of vague or repeating things I’ve already heard about how we can train our minds because of the neuroplasticity and can change our mindset. They mention and talk about results of studies but I honestly thought they were going to share ways of being able to train our minds besides learning to meditate.

I loved that it was a conversation. I was hoping they were going to talk about more personal ways to implement emotional intelligence. Overall great, quick and back by science.

This is a fairly "new" audio book as you can tell.
It gives you high level information on how different parts of brain interact when a person feels different emotions and points to the fact that there is always ways/skills which people can gain to tune their body/mind to response appropriately. This is why I like this book. However, the length of this CD(an hour!!!) and not detailed analysis ,are those things I am not happy about specially with its price.
