The Carrie Diaries is the coming-of-age story of Carrie Bradshaw, one of the most iconic characters of New York City and our generation. Before Sex and the City, Carrie was a small-town girl who knew she wanted more. She's ready for real life to start, but first she must navigate her senior year of high school.

Summer in the City, the sequel to The Carrie Diaries, brings surprising revelations as Carrie learns to navigate her way around the Big Apple, going from being a country "sparrow"—as Samantha Jones dubs her— to the person she always wanted to be.

With her signature wit and sparkling humor, Candace Bushnell reveals the irresistible story of how Carrie met Samantha and Miranda, and what turned a small-town girl into one of New York City's most unforgettable icons, Carrie Bradshaw.

This book gets a three out of five for me personally, and I would recommend it to high school and middle school girls. This novel is about Carrie who is and aspiring writer in highschool, and in the story it focuses on her school life with her relationship with Sebastian and her friend group, which made me dislike the book. I was exopecting this book to be mainly about her journey to becoming a succssesful writer and inspirational but I personally thought that it mainly about her high school life. I also didn’t enjoy the character set up of her friends and how one eventually turns on her that then makes her focus on herself and her career.

I needed a light read and I received one, but was also impressed by my first introduction to the author.
I loved young Carrie; I was just as frustrated by her inner circle as I was by my own peers in high school, and I appreciated the nuggets of feminist awareness hinting at the foundation of the Carrie Bradshaw we came to know via Sex and the City.
A delightful summer read.

This books was pretty good. I like the show better which is very unlike me, but the book was sort of predictable and injust couldn't really get into it. But it was not horrible. Will I read it again? Doubtful.

Apparently I read a different copy of this book a few years ago, but I didn't remember that until it started sounding vaguely familiar in the middle of this book. I still enjoyed it though and did decide to go ahead and finish it this time too.

A great book to give you a basis for the show Sex in the City.
