In a world filled with terror, strife and hopelessness, we seek validation that it is possible to change the world for those in need. Through prayer, faith and unremitting effort, Wendell Mettey proves that when ordinary people do extraordinary things, it is possible to change the world. “Are Not My People Worthy” chronicles the growth of Matthew 25: Ministries from a small suitcase ministry to an international humanitarian relief organization shipping humanitarian supplies to the poorest of the poor worldwide.
Wendell Mettey grew up in Cincinnati, OH and has a Master's Degree in Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Reverend Mettey has served as Pastor for several churches in the Cincinnati area. In 1991, after visiting war-torn Nicaragua and witnessing the poverty and devastation, he felt called by God to resign from his church and begin Matthew 25: Ministries.
Reverend Mettey and his wife Mickey (Michelle) have three children; Tim, Clare and Aaron. Wendell and Mickey are also the proud grandparents of Ethan, Sydney, Olivia, Cora, Noel and Ashlyn.
Reverend Mettey is the author of numerous devotional & inspirational publications. These include "Are Not My People Worthy? The Story of Matthew 25: Ministries" (released in 2004); "What God Desires The Story of the Center for Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief" (released in the 2008); "On Which Side of the Road Do the Flowers Grow?" (released in 2009), "Meet Those Who Met the Master" (released in 2012), and "Lost and Found, Stories of Christmas" (released in 2013). In addition to these books, Reverend Mettey has published several compilations of stories, sermons and reflections.

I downloaded this e book in 2018 and just reading it now in 2025. How amazing is our God in using Wendell in such a way to bless the poor of this world. They will always will be poor people in this world yet God knows which ones that need it now and who He can use to help them out. God is always at work and He always finds the right people for His will to be done. I give this ministry a thumbs up to be used mightily by God. Praise to His Holy Name.
I was moved by the straight forward way Pastor Mettey told this story...he was moved to "do something" and he got on with it. This is a very uplifting and inspiring account of how obstacles can be overcome by hard work, creative thinking and faith in GOD. I will keep him and Matthew 25: Ministries in my prayers.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I was so inspired to see that one person listening to God can relieve the suffering of so many thousands of people.
Let me start of by saying that I am one that normally shy's away from any book based in religion. I have passed up many books that look promising due to the amount of religion in the book. However when I received Are Not My People Worthy? i started reading and soon found myself immersed in the story of how Matthew 25: Ministries started from a single trip and visions. I loved reading about how Mettey grew along with M25M, even through all the struggles and moving that had to be done. I read the book in a little over an hour and not once did the religion in the book cause me to walk away. My favorite part of the book was at the end..."As long as God gives me strength I will do all I can to change sad little eyes into happy little eyes."

I was just grabbing a few books for free on my Kindle. When I finished, this book was sitting first in the list. I kept being surprised at how easy it was to read. I read for my book-writing friends, and one thing I want to help then strive for is ease of reading. Smooth transition, flowing sentences with beckoning thoughts that lead to the next chapter. Mettey has achieved this and then some. While this is not a fictional thriller, his bigger than life challenges meet up with our massive God every time, and the growth is always stunning. Couldn't put this one down.
This first book of Mettey's is the springboard for his Matthew 25: Ministries. It gives us the reason for its existence and how it grew out of the failures of the U.S. governmental systems of trying to eliminate poverty but which create only dependency. A good read.

With faith in God, knowing he is in control and all things are possible through him....this book strengthened my faith and encourages me to do more to help others. I am immediately continuing with the second book. I want to find out more. I'm already thinking of what I can do to help others in need in my own country.
Great book about this amazing mission. As a member of the USAF I was thrilled to see how this large government organization was able to help a small but growing ministry. God's provisions for this mission continues to allow it to thrive and I pray they receive everything they need to bless those in need. Wonderful heartwrenching and heartwarming stories.
Living in the Cincinnati area I had heard of the work of Matthew 25 Ministries. Reading the book makes me want to learn more about them and volunteer my time. What a wonderful work they are doing to help the poor across the globe.
This is the author's account of how he started the Matthew 25 Missionary. It helps the poor in countries around the world. He tells of his organization's humble beginnings and the struggles to help the needy.
I loved this book. it was so inspiring to me to see the whole story of how this ministry took place. Many people take for granted all the hard work that goes into starting a ministry.
Another great book from my friend Sandy written by her long time pastor in Cincinnati. Written by Mettey with the help of the Mathew 25: Ministers. Great read..
