Brian D. Meeks is one of my favorite authors. He writes in five genres, and I've sampled them all. His Sci-fi is my favorite. This book is listed as a thriller. I've noted in the reviews that readers who specialize in a genre seem to have problems with Meeks, but I tend to always give him the benefit of the doubt. It normally takes me the first chapter to adjust to his style. In this book the killer seems more quirky than insane and this makes him less believeable. I don't care, though. This was my second trip through the book and I enjoyed it both times. I've read other of his books three times. I enjoy the snarkiness of his main characters, and he always treats woman characters well. Coleridge wrote that to appreciate fiction it is necessary to surrender ones sense of disbelief, and I do that readily. Reading Meeks is like hooking up with an old friend. I like looking back on his work as much as I look forward to each new book.

Not sure how this ended up on my Kindle -- perhaps it was a freebie. A clunky attempt at a contemporary thriller. The prose is amateurish and inelegant, and the plot made no sense. I bailed out in Chapter 6.
